Sharing a local story

A local woman has been painting her home in memory of her slain son, but one of her neighbors has been complaining about it.

What has this world come to when people down here, in NEW ORLEANS, complain about local art?  We have murals that cover entire fences, whole sides of buildings are painted by teams of artists, and even the city itself is littered with large pieces of art, made not only by local artists, but nationally recognized artists as well.  But when it comes to a home in a neighborhood, that's a no-no?  Double-you tee eff?!

that's messed up dude... it's one thing to not care but to actively interrupt a person's grief like this is, it's the lowest anyone can go really... that's just horrible...

That really is pretty messed-up, especially since yeah, it is in New Orleans; the neighbor woman probably shouldn't even be living there if so.

There are always going to be people in groups who are sticklers of the law.  Seemingly neat and tidy in every fashion of the word, and who would probably complain at a simple chalk drawing a child makes on the sidewalk, let alone an actual piece of artwork made to deal with something as solemn as grieving.  Graffiti has actually been classified as a form of art, and even so, it's against the law if it's purposefully defacing something, methink, instead of giving a blank wall some color.

So she said she understands about the artist's son, but I don't think anyone truly understands how one feels until she loses someone so close herself.

*Shakes her head* people are stupid.

An abomination? An abomination, the neighbor says. In whatever aspect you view the picture whether it be the woman overcoming grief, an artistic perspective, or a legal issue, what she's doing is in nowise an abomination. For one thing its on her property so he has no right to complain. Everyone in the neighborhood aside from him thinks it a good thing for her.

Perhaps the neighbor is from California... a lot of people tend to be like that here.

That's so stupid. That's not graffiti; they're all taxpayers, and it's her piece of sidewalk to do with what she wants. That woman doesn't have the right to tell a grieving mother that art isn't a good way to deal with her feelings. She's not hurting anyone!

I wonder how that lady who complained would have reacted to this piece of architectural beauty I saw in Vienna?
