14.  That was half the fun.  It's fun writing a story.

VSMIT

16.  But only when you knew where the story was going.  Writing something new on the spot is rather difficult.

Aisha deCabre

17.  Well, there's been one-word-at-a-time stories created, and those went crazy.  But this was the first time I've actually seen a serious few-words-at-a-time story going on.  oO

18. I liked the one with the few words at a time the most.  It was just fun to see where folks would take it.

VSMIT

19.  Because you'd take it in one direction and they'd blast it off to a whole new one?

Jairus

20. Exactly. Though to me, that was kind of the fun... you write a sentence thinking "okay, here's where it goes from here" and then someone does something unexpected.

21.  But not unexpected like the Spanish Inquisition.  Because that would be silly.

Jairus

22. Well, to be blunt, by this point everyone expects the Spanish Inquisition. The problem with really good humor is that everyone starts copying it, and eventually it just becomes a cultural meme, and you start to forget that once upon a time it was original and new.

23.  Well, jokes about the inquisition were always funny.  Especially when the inquisition does a song and dance routine.

Jairus

23. Oh indeed. "Making light of the persecution of Jews in the Spanish Inquisition, bad. Doing so in a long and elaborate big-budget Hollywood song-and-dance number with a water torture scene envisioned as an aquatic ballet, funny."

25.  Of course.  As long as you include the Jews in the music, I don't think they'll get as indignant at you.  Especially since the guy who wrote it is Jewish.

Jairus

26. Well, I think that Mel Brooks is the only one who could get away with it, really. Apparently, and I'm quoting the TV Tropes Wiki here, "In an interview for 60 Minutes, he stated that his life's goal was to reduce Hitler to a figure of such ridiculousness that no one would ever take his ideas seriously again." Presumably, this could include all racism, in which case I have nothing but support for the man.
