You know how the Grim Reaper can let you have a game for your soul?

What would your game be?

I'd probably choose Guitar Hero 2, YYZ on Expert.

Ren Gaulen

How about a game of... Dance Dance Revolution!

His sandals would come off and hit you in the eye.

Hell, I would die to see the Grim Reaper playing DDR (or Guitar Hero)! :) It's a win-win situation!

Deathmatch played in a head-to-head game of Doom 2.

Eh. I'd probably flip a coin.

That's not really a game, is it?

I'm a traditionalist. Chess, or Starcraft.

Tapewolf

If a single-player game is acceptable, I'd probably go for Serpent Isle with the Silver Seed expansion, because I know how to break the game into making the player immortal.

chess or maybe gin rummy to 500 points. not sue then again i'd have nothing to wager unlike yugi, doctor McNinja  and others with a double soul.

If you choose a single player game, the rule would probably be impressiveness.

You have won your soul...

Slowtini

I'd play the "Give Slowtini's soul back before he kicks you in the balls" game.

Aisha deCabre

For my soul?  Huh...I'm actually pretty ruthless at checkers, but I haven't won a game in ages.

Mostly I'd go with impressiveness at first-person games too.  If Death's any good at games with lots of ruthless puzzle and thinking elements, such as Tomb Raider or Pnoenix Wright, or race for the most loot in Oblivion, I'd like to see him (it...) try me.  :P

Of course, I may just be smart enough to not bet my soul in the first place.  :3  Why keep your soul when life is often too cruel, so long as paradise is at the end of death.

i expected you to say sword duel, which is probably even more traditional even though its hell to try and fight a scythe with a sword, but starcraft ranks right up there

i too am a traditionalist- i would challenge him to a rousing game of PONG!

The only thing that comes to mind is the Rats of Nimh, but that's something else entirely.

How would one play this game, Gabi?

If its the game I'm thinking of, the rules are thus:

You can remove any number of sticks / lines / counters in a horizontal row (or group); the person who removes the last object loses.

I believe there is a winning strategy for the configuration provided.

Coming to that point, I would pick a game where there is a complete winning strategy. Some games are mathematically proved to guarantee a winner if they follow such a strategy. I would choose such a game, if I can remember one right now. (I think Connect 4 has a winning strategy, but I have no idea what it might be without looking it up.)

Hmm... that depends. Do I get his soul I win? Fair's fair, and all... :kittydevious

maybe not but you might get his mantle and become the new death.

Why not? A Russian roulette is a game too, is it not? Luck is also a powerful factor in some games.

Unlike many of you might know, the original idea of this "game" comes from an old Swedish movie "Seventh seal", by Ingmar Bergman.

I think that the chess might be a good idea, or go.

But death has undoubtedly had so many chess matches over time that it has memorized any move that can be taken.

e_voyager

it's not the always smart moves that win it's the sneaky ones that do.

You mean, Boxing?

Being the nerd I am, I would play a game of Dungeons and Dragons with him. No PvP, a typical adventure. Whoever characters lives the longest keeps my soul. However I won't tell Death about the Rod of Automatic Resurrection with 20 charges, I keep in my Bag to give me an advantage, besides if he brings Gary Gygax to DM I will need it from what I've heard of the 'tomb of horrors' adventure.

Ren Gaulen

Hmm... I think I've got another game. I'll... rochambeau for my soul. (All credit for this idea goes to Deadpool)

Perhpas, but since I do not know Deaths strenght and weaknes, I cannot pick a right game against him/her/it. Chess, however is not a short game, whitch means that I can prolong my life at least for a while.

Then again. I can challenge death to a sleeping contest and say that I can sleep over 1000 years. He/she/it will buy it and sleep even longer. The opponent doesn't dare to wake up, because it's a one shot.
