Flash programs?

Does anyone know of any free programs to make flash movies with?  I currently have Liveswif 2.2 [http://www.download.com/Liveswif/3000-2068_4-10502699.html] but, it only saves movies as .lmv

I'm am no where near patient enough to learn how to convert it and all I can pretty much with with it as of now is make screensavers for myself, which, gets boring 

so Does anyone know where I can get a better flash program for free? or if someone knows, how I can convert the files to ... well something else.

On the other hand, the OP hasn't said which OS they want the program for. I can look for linux-based programs, if you like, but I've no idea if that's wasted effort or not...
