you could also use the toilet method

you first pour the shampoo into the toilet,  then drop the cat (or ferret) in and slam the lid.  Sit on the toilet lid and flush 4-5 times.  Then make a mad dash for the door and lock it behind you.  It should be safe to go back into the bathroom in a day or two
