Back To The FUture 3-confusing parts

okay, so here's the things i want to know about the confusing parts in BTTF3-
1. -marty resides into the McFly house (in the 1880's) and he eats some rabbit- then he spits some pip like things onto the dish, what are they??
2. just after marty spits his pips, Mrs McFly (and don't you be forgettin' the mrs!) signs a crucifix onto herself. Why??
3. if doc always says to marty not to interact with anyone because he will cause a time paradox the unfabricates the entire universe, then why did he go and speak to doc in the 1950's?

I know the crap he's spitting out is buckshot bits.

I can't remember why she signs the crucifix.

Doc says for Marty not to talk to people, but it's not like Marty ever listens.

I have a few more questions:

4) Why didn't the train attempt to stop after crashing into the DeLorean?
5) Why did they use 2 locomotives to haul 2 cars?
6) Couldn't they have gotten a proper road unit instead of switching locomotives?

4. It's California. No one ever stops after an accident.

When you shoot something with a shotgun, the shotgun pellets are called buckshot.

Generally one expects that you attempt to remove these from the meal -before- you cook it...

Are you talking about the steam train in the 1800's or the diesel train that came after that? I meant the latter of those.

switching locomotive (switcher)=locomotive used to move railroad cars around a yard or other typically short distances

road unit=a (typically) larger locomotive used to travel the longer distances of a railroad. (If you've ever taken a locomotive hauled train, chances are it was pulled by a road unit.)
