Though somehow after his chat with Jyrras, Dan has opened up more with Able.  Remember what Jyrras said,  Dan, everyone hits you with a bat sooner or later?, he didn't say that exactly...

I think Dan is starting to see Able as more of a friend, Dan's getting Able with his childish acts and taking the punishment for it.

I think that Dan is also starting to discover that some of his fears about Abel's motives are groundless.  Both Jyrras and Matilda have pointed out that Abel is a little too quick to assume evil intentions.  Now, things are going the other way, with Dan trying to show Abel that some of his fears are groundless.

On a more somber note, I think Dan should rush off to Abel and apologize for bringing it up, and explain he was trying to start over.  Then ask for just a clean slate.  Abel's a good guy, that should be enough, though he'll probably be suspicious at first.

Another possible approach for Dan would be:

"I'm sorry I've upset you.  Mom, Aaryanna, and you are the only cubi I've met for more than a few hours, and I'm not sure if I should use Aaryanna as a role model.  I have no idea what I'm going to do for the next few hundred years.  I have trouble thinking ahead to lunch."

Express regrets rather than offer an apology.  If Dan was trying to get Abel involved by asking questions, ask another question.  Perhaps ask what question he should ask.

      Maybe I just didn't notice it before, but it looks like there's a lot of texture in the shirt Dan's wearing.  Neat!  Textures can be really hard to do, based on what I've been told by artist-friends.

      Also, the eye reaction of Dan was almost 'Mab-like' if I recall correctly.  Also neato!
