That's all from me, folks!  I don't think we can top this headline.

(OK.  I lied.  Someone else pointed out that the school board is being represented by Kenneth Starr.  Yes, that Kenneth Star.  Doesn't like sex.  Doesn't like drugs.  Is he going to try to sue Elvis next?)

Superb.  As you say, that's going to take a lot to top.

I don't really get it...

What did he do wrong?

If this happened outside school why was he suspended?

If he was out of school without permission, he could get into trouble for that.  Otherwise, he sounds like just some arrogant brat trying to cause trouble who should merely have been told he's a twit and that would have been the end of it.

Schools over-react to nothing these days, while people still manage to bring guns and knives and drugs while everyone's going nuts over a stupid banner.  I highly doubt anyone started on drugs because of it, but they might start now to protest the freedom of speech violation!  Nice going far-right.

I tend to support Republicans, but not when they do something stupid like dragging this thing out.  They don't even realize this is exactly what the little ass wanted.

*sigh*  I'm the last intelligent person in the country.   Mine is a high and lonely destiny... I must destroy humanity now.   >:3

How about ``High Court Takes 'Bong Hits 4 Jesus'''?  Just came out as I was typing this

There was the famous ``British left waffles on Falklands,'' but I'm not entirely convinced that that was an actual headline.

I was hoping to find out out more about the arguments--usually NPR's Legal Affairs Correspondent Nina Totenberg has something on All Things Considered the same day right after the case is heard, but so far, I've not seen much in terms of what the court actually said.

The school let them go out to watch the torch pass.

As for the kid, he was doing something stupid to get on TV.  Like the John 3:16 guy or Tony Snow.  I don't know if that warrants being suspended.

I wonder if that was from the Sunday Sport?  Mostly famous for its porn, it did come up with a few very entertaining front-page stories such as "World war 2 bomber found on moon".  I believe there was a best-of compilation of all their nonsense at one point.

The 'Thrid book of boobs' (sic) is good for this stuff, it was a compilation of ambiguous newspaper clippings.
"Sheep attacks rocket" was one, also a lineage advert for "Black man's shoes".
Oh, and more on topic, "Police found pot plants were cannabis".

But I digress.

In unrelated news...

At my school, the Young Democrats club put up a banner saying "FOUR YEARS OF WAR - FOUR YEARS OF WASTE" and signs around it tallying the deaths. Someone ripped it off the wall.

I'm not sure how much I agree with the Democrat's statement, but was it really their place to rip it of the wall? How far do the rights of "free speech" really extend? Would I be imposing on someone's rights to yell at them for taking down the sign, or were they the ones imposing on the club's rights? How many lawsuits can we make? (That sounds like a jump rope rhyme...)

As to the case, well, I'm still not sure if he was actually making a statement or just trying to piss people off. The latter seems more plausible, as I know way too many people like that.

On the flip side, I've already seen cases of kids being threatened with failing grades in some classes for supporting the war and asking for debate about whether or not global warming is scientifically proven.

My own experience has led me to discover that the Democrats are in full supprt of free speech only so long as their voices are the only ones heard.   :B

The right to speech is the right to "responsible" speech, let us leave it at that.

ah. rights, politics, stupidity, finger pointing, and lawsuits. This is one of the reasons I don't watch the news. the other being that I don't want to hear about the latest senseless act of violence. I like being able to sleep.
I may be a bit young to be worrying about it so much, but I'm not changing this sig until I find true love.
yappities by silverfoxr, and are awesome.  Thanks!

That's in EVERY political party.  Especially ones like facists and communists who seek to eliminate a "great evil."
