The Castlevania : Dracula X char replacement hack, are they any good?

Just curious. I always thought they were top quality but there is a bit of a debate at romhacking.net

I think a character replacement isn't necessarily a 'real' hack.
But the screenshots do look good. I'd be interesting in playing such a hack, though, only if the levels were new as well (that's because I'm a Cv freak without much time on my hands). But 16-Bit level-editing is quite a task, I'm sure. Anyway, I hope that page takes these hacks into their database, just because it's sad that there isn't one singel place devoted to collecting all the fine hacks and cahracter replacements around.
