Vegemite is clearly a WMD.

Aha, so a vegemite sandwich would not be plausible... the song lies! Or the guy was really stupid.

Last time I saw Vegemite was from a guy who also provided furry porn.  Are these two related?  MUST BE SO!

Is that a bad thing? >:3

Considering Men at Work is an Aussie band, I think they knew what they were talking about. X3
I imagine a "vegemite sandwich' would just consist of a thin spread of vegemite between two pieces of bread or crackers. Maybe with something else on it, too. I dunno. I don't speak Australian. D:

EDIT: After having talked to my Designated Australian, I guess a vegemite sandwich consists of two pieces of bread, butter and vegemite.
Ew.

The article states that it is banned, because it has folic acid (vitamin B) added to it.

Was there some senator somewhere who though "We don't need no stinkin' vitamins!" and started a war on healthy foodstuffs or something?

It is said several politicians were infected with a chronic disease known as "stupidity," which turned them into "dumbasses." To this day, 9 out of 10 politicians are affected in the same manner. I've fought agains the dumbasses many times, but they have greater numbers, and always seem blissful...

Yoy've got a point there... From Ethiopia? It's an improvement. But from Australia? That sounds like a downgrade.

No one said I was moving to the US for it's lack of stupidity or it's wonderfully working government :rolleyes

I want to go to uni (college) in America. Mainly because, believe it or not, they actually have some good ones. Better than Australia at least...

What always amuses my father is the conflicting stereotypes* of Australians being well 'ard, yet apparently being unable to handle undiluted marmite.

Vegemite sandwiches are real, I used to make them for school.  Then I settled down into my cheese rut - now I only use vegemite if I run out of cheese.  Cheese and vegemite sandwiches are interesting, though.

*It's an image thing.  He doesn't really believe that all Australians are well 'ard or that all Australians love vegemite unconditionally.  If you want to make a cruel joke about a British stereotype or two, now's your chance.  (Offer only valid in Australia.)

*Charles shudders*  I smelled it once.  But actually, you all should check on what other countries ban.  The US isn't the only one with illogical import-export policies.  Basically, any country that has a beauraucracy in any way involved with imports has some form of odd-ball or illogical restrictions and regulations on something.  I recall something with France in the news last year over something silly... wine name lawsuit or something.  Or was it cheese?  Something to do with if a product had a certain name then it had to come from a particular region or it couldn't have that name, and they complained about it all around the world.

I don't think anyone is claiming that their own countries are pefect. Just look at Australia's Refugee policy or it's inability to sign one stupid document which would help reduce greenhouse emitions (Why won't we just sign the kyoto agreement >_<?). However, having lived in both America and Australia and being a citizen of both, I have to say that I prefer Australia, even if it's government and policies can seem just as stupid. It's something about the atmosphere of the country.
The people of America are fantastic (or, at least the ones I've met are) and I have a lot of friends who are very patriotic, I think the ideals and beliefs that it's based on are good ones and that its democracy, while not the most effective in the world, works. It's just that the attitude of the American government is starting to wear on the world's nerves.

well... that's my two cents...

I have to say that when it comes to Australia signing the Kyoto Protocol, there is some logic behind why we don't sign. Even though I wish we could limit our emissions as well, it's just that by doing so, jobs could be lost to developing countries (already happening I suppose).

And remember that countries categorised as "developing" don't really have any limits. Australia only contributes 1.1% of all pollution in the world. Compare that to China's... D:

Australia has been working with China since 2004 in an effort to create environmental projects to cut down on emissions as well though.

Still, Australia is behind in so many aspects (environmental or not) that it's not funny. :/

Couldn't agree with you more.

Oh, and what might possibly Charline reveal to us about these scary other countries then? Frankly, I don't find the USA to be Satan. But it has been commercialized and demoralized to one divided by zero. Well, maybe not that far, but the fact remains that many people in the US don't seem to have much more than scraps of morals, common sense and dignity left. Then again, that goes for a great many countries. Take Sweden, for example. Hopefully the new government will set things right there. Or Iran. We need to send some new kind of UN taskforce there and run them over, show who's boss, then leave them completely to settle their problems. Same thing with north Korea. I say we have a duty to rid the world of filth like that, but we don't have the right to tell them how to live. Well, of course not like it was before, since then we'll just come back and run them over again, but you get the point.

Alondro said what I was planning to say.  Welcome to the wonderful world of beauracracy.  A lot of laws are on the books that are either outdated or just plain silly, and as long as they continue to be on the books they are quite possibly subject to enforcement.  I have no idea what the underlying reason for this ban is, however I think we can safely say that very few Americans are going to be contacting their representatives irately demanding access to their gooey imported fungus cultures.

If I wanted to fix the world's problems, I'd go to the source too :o

But there is one thing that always bugs me. Look at canada, (Waves back at people lookin at him) We are a happy people. We are polite, we have few stupid issues (other than that whole same sex marriage scandal with Martin and his hand *cough*) and we are a happy people :o We are afraid of a terrorist attack though, but why would we get attacked? Cuase America is too close :3

So I vote that we bomb the Can/US border till we split off into two continents. And then, everything will be happy :D
