Heh seems you all missunderstands me. It is true that if you haven't played FF7 then you will not enjoy this movie.
However, saying that it doesn't stand out as a movie itself is a lie, because it sure beats all the pixar movies in what comes for animation (and storyline too, but since some people simply dislike FF they don't even give it a try). Even if you like it or not, as an animation movie it stands out ALLOT in, what ? animation? ZOMG is an animation movie with better animation than most of ALL the previous animation ever made! and it doesn't stand out as a movie on its own in that area!

I just finished watching it, myself.

The subtitles are very good, and the graphics are VERY impressive. Almost 100% photogenic in appearance in a few scenes.

And yeah, you won't understand it if you haven't played the game, but I followed this movie far easier than I did Spirits Within.

SW was a shitty, shitty movie sold on the merits of its supposedly "hyper-realistic" graphic, which even when it came out fell far short of their intended goal. Sure it was pretty, but it was a really flat movie.
