I had long suspected that 'Cubi would be able to do this kind of telepathic conversation, but until now I don't think we've seen it happen, save for Cyra and Dan, which is a special case.
Arguably Fa'Lina is a special case all by herself, but it's interesting to see, nonetheless.

And I hope Dan does figure this out.  I can't remember if he's aware of the foresight blackspot over his clan or not.  I'm pretty sure he is aware that he is wanted by Hizell by now.  Not least because of the incident with Abel.

He knows that it would be Very Bad if Hizell learned of his existence and that the main reason Hizell hasn't is because of decades worth of clan Deminkia disinfo. He also knows that Hizell has been going after his associates but doesn't know why. The fact that Edward's abduction is tied to Quoar and gets discribed as a 'test' for Destania makes it unlikely that Hizell is directly involved though.

There is one thing to consider in all this. Even though it might be less important then other facts to consider.

Just how much Dan's own dad knew about all the little details involving the dragons wanting to kill Destania. I imagine at the very least that Dee would inform Edward that dragons have some sort of death wish over Dee's head. But did Dee try to bury as much of the details as possible to avoid the more gritty details.

Depending on that, Edward leaving with the dragon might not even be a kidnapping. But instead, his idea.

I seriously need to reread the whole comic again. When did Dan learn about what Hizell did to Abel?

On page 1900, Fa'Lina tells him that Hizell crushed Abel.  On 1901 she points out that when Hizell learns of Dan's connection to Lost Lake it will be Very Bad.  So even if there wasn't an earlier reveal I've forgotten, and Dan somehow missed this during the fundamentals classes, he absolutely does know by this point.

It has been implied that it was actually Quoar in big-and-stompy mode, and not dragons at all.  In which case it may be more a case of protective custody than kidnapping in the usual sense.

That it could have been Quoar in his bigger form also makes it interesting for other reasons. It might even give clues to a few things in his bio.

Like with that form, could Quoar actually be on the elder dragon council? It would definitely give another layer to why Quoar doesn't have his children attend Fa'lina's school. Also might further explain why he tries to keep his distance from the other tri-wings.

I really like the phrase 'big-and-stompy mode'. As a side note, if Quoar is dragon/part dragon then that in itself would explain being hostile to Destania while not wanting to stoop so low as to target Dan directly. Possibly as part of larger faction among the dragons that has similar leanings (Willing to coexist with cubi, but miss "I want the destruction of the dragon race" has to go. Or at least be made to stop whatever it is she's doing through potentially coercive means.)

Heh. I believe I coined that after modding Skyrim to play as a dragon and liking it far too much.  It's also the title of an instrumental that didn't quite make it for my latest album.

However, in this case, I think I should probably have said "Big and stompy form" since some people are apparently taking this to assume that Quoar is literally a dragon and not a shapeshifted tri-wing as I had intended to mean.

Moofy

Quoar being a dragon/cubi hybrid is an interesting idea that I've never considered. I had assumed he was shapeshifted into a dragon as well, but looking at the hybrid genetics comics again seem to indicate that it could theoretically be possible? If one parent was X number of generations removed from pureblood dragon ancestors, then a sufficiently powerful cubi could maybe have a cubi child with that hybrid dragon instead of just another dragon?

We don't have any indication of what cubi-dragon relations were like so far in the past (Quoar is over 70,000 years old), as the Cubi/Dragon War only happened a few thousand years prior to the comic. It could explain Quoar's motivations that seem different to other cubi leaders, and his clan's theming of duality.

Fa'lina doesn't know that Mab is fully aware of Hizell's attempt to attack and scry the inn, and that Mab made it clear to him that he isn't allowed to do that in comic #1782. Everyone at the inn seems to live their lives with the expectation that Mab isn't going to directly interfere with their life path but it seems a little odd that Dan would even expect Mab to stand idly by while someone hurts her friends. Since Fa'lina and Mab are friends, that seems like an odd assumption on her part, too. Though we don't know what sort of personality Mab was effecting back when the war was happening, she did something huge for Fa'lina in the creation of the Academy.

To clarify, when I referenced the possibility of Quoar being a dragon I was mainly thinking about other threads where it's been brought up, as well as the fact that Fa'lina (apperently?) immediately suspects Quoar once a dragon having a certain coloration is mentioned. I have no idea what the Elder Dragon Council is though.
