Drugs to the rescue, I guess...

It's a good job scrying doesn't seem to be able to scry thoughts because Lost Lake wouldn't have stood a chance.

While Jyrras tends to over-think things (okay it's like his super-power) he does have good reason to regarding this point.  He seems to need to come up with shielding against mind-reading that doesn't require someone to work shielding magic on him, it'd also be understandable given his status as he'd have a lot of trade secrets to keep from being stolen by competitors (seriously, given it's a world with scrying and mind-reading magic shielding against both should be like standard for anyone of any particular degree of even modest wealth but especially one of the richest people around, he should have his entire house scrying blocked).

This whole arc was so suspiciously nice, my GoT senses were halfway expecting something horrible to happen at the end. I'm kinda glad we seem have made it through...

That's a good point. I'm surprised he hasn't come up with some kind of mind-shielding tech himself so far, out of practical matters.

Then again, it could always be that he does have a mind-shield, but he never had the pleasure to be involved with cubi and dragons so far, so it's only working against beings.

That is an excellent point, have we ever had a satisfactory explanation about the limits of mind-shielding?

Jy also led a pretty low-key life, right? Mansion aside, he didn't seem to be much of a celebrity until he was made boty.

Living a low-key life isn't really relevant if you're a successful businessman especially with valuable trade secrets.  He's still got business competitors and you don't have to be Tony Stark'ing all over the place for them to be trying to steal those secrets.

That's true. I'm just remembering now that Kria stole one of his inventions, too.

It's worth keeping in mind that his mother is an extremely notorious lawyer.  Stealing secrets is one thing, but actually using them is likely to lead to the infringers being crushed in court.

Especially if he's taken any advice to keep proper research and manufacturing logs that could prove he'd created the idea in advance well enough to convince the law to authorize investigation into potential magical espionage.

We do know he considered it a while ago back in the earlier convo with Abel where the potential for Dan to pick something up off of him was mentioned. Really seems like there should be the possibility of some kind of magical Faraday cage that could be worn as a form of headgear to protect against that.
