This is probably for the best, at least where Dan's safety is concerned.  Though it would have been fun to see Destania's realise she'd miscalculated.

Indeed. Also, just for fun:

Cyra: "I am sorry to mention this now, but sadly you come from a line of incredibly poor flyers..."

Flying is easy Dan, you just have to throw yourself at the ground...and miss. You've already got the first part down, how hard can it be?

I mean really, if you think about it, the basic principle of flying is the same as bipedal walking.  In the end it's just a series of small controlled falls in which you repeatedly catch yourself.  The main difference is whether you're using feet against the ground or wings against the air to accomplish that.
