I must say, this is the first case I've seen of people using a veggie garden as weapons.

Mind shield may be in effect but common sense never stays long. 
Also I think the mind Shield is a one way shield where it blocks incoming but not outgoing. 
Remember "I wonder if cubi can read minds?"  Mind shield was in effect then,

I mean when someone asks "do you think skulls are harder than watermelons," that is a major tip off.  Even more of a tip off to trouble when DAN says it, I could almost hear the fire department coming.

Though my line will always be "I didn't think you could set cabbage on fire like that."
