If you're clean enough, you tend not to smell too much. Alternatively, you can remain dirty, and smell of dirt, but that requires a dirty environment, and has other issues, like skin health...

I never saw the point of using a stinging alcohol-based aftershave. I found plain water to be more refreshing afterward.
