Renewing my CompTIA A+ cert

So, I got the A+ around 2001-02, I forget when.  It was enough to land me the job that I have.  I have since learned that it's long since been time for me to renew it.  So my question is, has anyone else gotten the A+ from that time period, and had it renewed since then, and if so, how much has changed?  Are my study materials from that period still valid, or will I need to hunt down new materials?
