08/10/2010 [PF #130] - Dorcan's shirt choice is so clever, it could be British

...Or Australian, if there are stars on the other side.  In fact, I think there a few other countries with that pattern on their flag, but I can't remember which countries they are, if any, at the moment.

Does Chance have a lazy eye?  It appears as if her left eye is off-center in panel 3.

The fact that there's a succubus anchorwoman is a bit surprising to me.  Is the world a more tolerant of cubi in general in the future or is the news network in a more tolerant zone of the world?

Awesome cameo of Dan.  He looks interesting when drawn by Ren.  Is that motorcycle in the background supposed to be his?

I am just laughing over how quaint Panel 1 is.  Two robot panthers, two Synthetics and an Angel (really a cubi in disguise) sitting around watching TV.
...and one panther itching to have his murderer brought to justice, but is learning the value of patience.

Yes, I do post just to see my own words on the screen.

It's made worse by that bang of hair, but it's not supposed to be like that, no.  Thanks for spotting that.

Funny you should mention that.  Ren suggested that it should be a specialist network ("Cube-I" and "Creature News Network" were names we considered) but as you say, I did want it to be the same channel as before for racial tolerance reasons.

No, it's just decor really.  (And no, it's not Dorcan's either)

Australian, New Zealand, and United Kingdom, at the very least - the British flag is different, being the St George Cross, ie, white with a vertical/horizontal red cross.

The Union Jack is theoretically a mix of the British flag (the St George's Cross, white with a red cross on it), the Scottish flag (the Saltire, or St Andrew's Cross; blue background with white diagonal cross, or saltire) and the Northern Irish flag (St Patrick's Saltire, or St Patrick's Cross; white background with red saltire). The resultant flag is for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Note that Ireland is not part of the UK; it's just Northern Ireland that is, to complicate matters. Also note that the Welsh flag is left out in the cold.

There's also a few other countries that are part of the Commonwealth that also use the Union Jack as part of their flag - if you look at wikipedia, it says Fiji, Tuvalu, Bermuda, and British Colombia all use it. There's also the flag of Hong Kong prior to 1997, and a couple of areas in the USA use it as well.

All in all, interesting things when you start digging... ;-]

Well, if it wasn't mentioned before, we now know that project future is based 150 years ahead of DMFA.

Edit: Whoops, should have read the 'about' section...

Wow, I'll have to search for what areas in the USA actually use the Union Jack in their flag.  Now that is a very interesting factoid that I didn't know.  Thanks for finding all the info, llearch.

That Batman photo is funny in a weird way. :P  One would think Furrae's Batman would be an anthro bat, but that'd sour the joke, probably, considering one of Batman's villains is an anthro bat. :(

Was Dan also the prime suspect in FH, or did you change it for PF for comedic reasons?  It's been so long since I read it I can't remember.

If the news network Furrae Today is racially tolerant, that would also explain why Jairus was one of the anchors.  I'd still like to know where it's situated, though.

Again, I think you had a semi-clear definition of how much more tolerant the world was of creatures 150 years in the future, but again it's been so long since I've read FH I can't exactly remember.

On the one hand I think you had a city lead by a justice feeding cubi, and on the other you had a redneck who still thought cubi were genderless monsters from out of the Bible attacking Dorcan and his mother.

I mean, have things really not changed that much, and there are only certain areas that are tolerant, such as Zinvth and Shiin?

It's a long story.

My take is that things are better overall, but you've still got a whole bunch of backward areas, and in particular areas where it's illegal to discriminate on grounds of race but people still want to and will find loopholes or excuses.

Baton Rouge, LA, and Taunton, MA, according to wikipedia. Not that it's hard to look up; feed "wiki union jack" into the address bar on any handy Firefox browser, it should take you to the right page...

... looking up the abbreviations for Louisiana and Massachusetts, while I was at it... ;-]

Wow, this page of Project Future is just full of errors.  I just spotted another, much more significant one, and I can't believe that neither I nor anyone else has spotted it up until now:

Dan's Cyra Clan Symbol is on his right shoulder, but it's absent in panel 2 of this page.

Now I know he could be wearing makeup to cover it up, but considering he's showing his head-wings in the panel and he just got out of a police investigation, one would think any makeup would have gotten wiped off in the process of the investigation.

Or maybe the authorities would at least respect the sanctity of his clan symbol.  I'm not sure and it's ultimately up to you whether or not you change the page to include it.

There is a picture of Batman with a lightsaber VS a shark, If batman gave the lightsaber to the shark it would be a fare fight... or close to it.  Batman can beat superman...

Wow, this page of Project Future is just full of errors.  I just spotted another, much more significant one, and I can't believe that neither I nor anyone else has spotted it up until now:

No, missing the clan mark was deliberate - given that Cyra can be viewed as triggering a war that nearly wiped out his [Dan's] race, it's not something you would necessarily be proud of, whereas revealing that you're a 'Cubi of some unspecified clan is less of a problem.
This is also the reason he's announced as Daniel Ti'Fiona rather than Daniel Cyra, which I had been tempted to do.  I was tempted to add the mark very faintly through the makeup but decided not to in the end.

QuoteNow I know he could be wearing makeup to cover it up, but considering he's showing his head-wings in the panel and he just got out of a police investigation, one would think any makeup would have gotten wiped off in the process of the investigation.

No, they were only questioning him not running a full body-search or whatever.

Aside from Chance's eyes, are there any other problems?

Ah, so they were respecting the sanctity of his clan symbol and his personal space in general.  Less racially tolerant cops (but still tolerant enough to not to arrest and possibly also execute him just for being a cubi) probably would have gone the length of cavity searching him. :P

Not really.  I guess I was just being overly dramatic at the moment since two apparent errors seems like a lot to me when it comes to web comics (darn my perfectionism).  I'll let you know if I spot anything else.

One good detail I would like to point out is that you're finally incorporating ear expressions into the comic, and I like that.  You can cut corners with Dorcan and his mother Salomere, since they have floppy ears, but the other characters need to have at least a little expressiveness in that region every once in a while.

Right now, I should be more worried about the details of the species of my fursona.
I kind of have to do that now, considering I've revealed myself to you on FurAffinity through a comment reply.
It's one of the few places where I actually have an avatar, but that's of an old character I'm actually a bit ashamed of, so don't go thinking it's my fursona.
No, I'm just caught between equine and bovine and possibly also reptilian species, so perhaps I'll be a hybrid of them.

Depends on how stupid and antagonistic they are. After all, if you're talking about cavity searching a shapeshifter, you should be aware they can make "vagina dentata" a reality.

Rather you than me, really. Flip a coin, either the culprit will get off on it, or you'll lose a hand. Or both...
