In case peeps are wondering, Stiletto won as part of the awesome suprise aspect: a bonus commission of up to 2 figures, and a cameo in DMFA.  I kept them secret mainly because I have a horrible sense of humour, and got the feeling people would bid simply because of those rather than on the strip itself.  But still...good fun. :3

TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Besides, you get money either way, what do you care which portion of the package they're paying for?

stiletto

Because she has that evil sense of humor, and I'm quite happy for it.

As for my name, I was just letting you know, and knowing is half the battle.

The other half is VIOLENCE!!!

Well, yes, but that's not important. I don't condone violence that hurts me, so I go with the other half.

The violence is VERY important. You can't teach children valuable life lessons without blowing something up or shooting a whole lotta people. It just doesn't work like that.

Please note that Violence can be substituted for Narcotics as you see fit.

Amber Williams

What about good old fashioned beer and bitches? :3

bill

Don't forget the Rock n' Roll.

Netrogo

We're gonna corrupt the minors with our talk of violence, beer, bitches, and drugs.

I'm so proud >:3

I honestly expected the auctions to go much higher considering how much the book of cute went for. But yeah Amber still made off like a bandit :giggle

As she should, no?

I mean, this is, what, 6 years of work, here? Surely 6 years of work is worth more than, what, less than four grand?

It could very well have done.  If I hadn't panicked and grabbed 'Disasters', I could have concentrated on SAIA instead.  And then things could have gone quite differently.  If SAIA had closed before 'Disasters', then I would have focused on it by preference - Dan's experience there reminds me of my own time at University, so I have an emotional connection with that particular arc.

Anyway, while I could have afforded to buy both - I had a major "What are you doing??" moment when I realised the combined price exceeded the sum I spent on the Korg.  Damned financial sense  :rolleyes

That was basically my argument for paying what I did. If a strip takes an hour to ink (being wildly optimistic) and you have 500 strips, and minimum wage is $5.15, then that means each strip should be worth at least about $5 - assuming comic artists work at least minimum wage. So that's what I bid. Obviously some people value certain arcs a bit more. ;)

Now, you can say that it's old art, and Amber was learning, and she already got paid somewhat with donations, but still...

Ultimately the strips were doing nobody any good in a box. If Amber feels she got a good deal and so do we, then we're all winners.

... which is the best case all round, I guess.

Long story short, Amber sold a sketchbook for a thousand bucks.

I don't believe we ever heard whether Secateur took her up on the offer to draw chibi pr0n though. >:]

The same thing we do every night, Pinky...

Netrogo

Where the hell are you guys getting porn from? It's just a cute pictures book, and she offered to draw a chibi pic not chibi porn :erk

Not that there's anything WRONG with porn mind you :grin

As I recall she said that if the winner requested porn as the chibi commission, she could not in good conscience turn them down.  Or something along those lines...

Netami

It was actually 100% pornography.

Riiiiiight. For some reason when you say it that way I just picture you wearing a cheap cardboard mask of Bill's face.

Netami

Yep. Commited deicide, really.

I skinned bill's face and stretched on one of the sides of llearch, then promptly cut it out to fit over the face or perhaps attached a popsicle stick. You'll never know.
