Glad to see the Golden Child is looking out for the Scapegoat. He's still being an *** though.  :giggle

The Centrist line has moved a long way to the Right over the years.

I'd argue that's a horribly shallow argument, except it's completely true. ~ooklah

I love the expressions on this page.  There's genuine concern, suspicion, annoyance, and more showing through.

Speaking on golden child/sibling dynamics:  If the narcissistic parent/parents aren't actively setting children against each other or keeping them apart, the golden child and scapegoat will often end up being supportive siblings for each other.

If the narc parents cause issues between the siblings in one way or another, there's as much chance that it will drive the siblings apart in the long run as it will strengthen the siblings' bonds with each other.

<.<  I've seen such things happen both ways, and it really does depend on the exact circumstances and each sibling.

Tolas IS being a bit of a butt, but he's got his own reasons to distrust Aliph, and it's Regina who's been getting actual supportive and proper parenting from Aliph.  So he can't know that Aliph is likely the best thing to happen to Regina in the history of ever in her eyes right now... and possibly literally.

You know, thinking on this makes me wonder how much Regina and Tolas are going to have a full and proper conversation about their parents, how Aliph has been caring for her, and whether it's truly good for her or not.

I can see Tolas continuing to be a bit of a butt... but begrudgingly admitting that Aliph has had a good effect thus far, and hoping that Aliph does succeed in being a guardian for Regina.
Am I the only person who thinks that Mr. Roboto rusts out and eventually becomes the Ironman?

No not that Ironman, the other one!

Don't forget that Aliph has strange priorities for a Demon.  For instance, he is okay with the idea of her never doing a rampage, since he finds some aspects of Demon culture to be wasteful and stupid.  Under his guardianship, she is becoming a journalist for a fashion magazine.

It is very possible that these things could later be taken as proof that Aliph is a negative influence on her... though to be fair, such attitudes will leave her in a better position if there is a Great Rearranging by Biggs and company and the might-makes-right attitude has to be curtailed "or else."

Ooh! Excellent point. :)

My suspicion is that Regina will stand up to Tolas about their parents being awful (or maybe stand up for Aliph actually parenting her), which Regina hasn't done before.  So Tolas will realize that Aliph is having a positive effect on Regina, even if she's going in a non-demony direction.

And if I'm wrong or right about that... eh, I'm fine either way.  I just love theorizing about how stories will go and what characters will do.
