Well, Jaeger is full of surprises.  Starting to wonder whether he put out the original bounty on Deimi, the one which I don't think was ever pinned on anybody.
Also, assuming this story is reliable, it just segued into the start of Fall, and Jake got better, otherwise he wouldn't have been around for Random Encounter.

For those wanting a refresher, since Jaeger is acting very out of character at the moment, he's the kid rescued in chapter 2.  Though I would honestly recommend rereading the whole story because it is awesome and not all that long as these things go.

That would be quite the turn-up for the book, if it were indeed the case. It would also explain all the details of Deimi's arrest that initially led her to blame the Mouse Nature Power (I forget her name, sorry) for somehow setting her up. I doubt it would ever have occurred to her that little Jaeger would also have been privy to the details of his rescue/"kidnapping".
