I've been crashing my way through Geneforge recently, and I wondered how many of you have heard of this little gem. :U

It's a beautiful game, if you aren't one of the people that goes RARGH WHY NO GRAPHICS THAT MAKE COMPUTER OVERHEAT. :) That, and the first two games have really good art for the loading screens. Very pretty and detailed.

The demos are enormous; nearly a fifth of the total game is available for free, and the disks are fairly cheap.

The creatures are amazing, and your character is really characterized realistically given that you have next to none. The stories are good, and the amount of customization you can get means that no game plays the same as any other.

Also, SERVILES, YAY. :U

Seriously these games are awesome you should try them.

yes, if your talking about the one by spiderweb software. really some more info on the game should be given if we want to recruit more spiderweb fans. I'm more of an exile fan myself. (the third one is best). the games can be found here http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/ as well as the demo's. all the games have plenty o replay value as well as long involved storylines plus huge sandbox style gameplay.
I'm just really loyal to my brand... what can I say? Dental Hygiene is important.

I still maintain that the Blades of Exile editor scenarios that Alcritas created (I can send copies to anyone who wants them) are some of the most brilliant things I've *ever* seen.
Someday, when we look back on this, we'll both laugh nervously and change the subject. More is good. All is better.

what's the deal with the blades open source. is it possible to get the game just by downloading and sourcing the code?

If you know how to debug and compile source code, then yes, the source code is the game.

Well, Blades of Exile is open source, so anybody can get it for free if they want.

Although, finding compiles is a little confusing.

Mac: http://khoth.ath.cx/~khoth/

Spidweb's BoE forum has a bunch of scenarios:
http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=22

Go to http://info.wsisiz.edu.pl/~kowalsg0/
Download the full package
Download the updated executable
Use WinRAR, 7-zip or whatever to extract the full package and then extract the updated executable over the top.

It only has VoDT, but the forum suggests that the source code includes the other scenarios... I'm too lazy to look.
