I think that Piflak may have written 'Sweeney Todd' in her universe. :kirby

The ORIGONAL Sweeny Todd is great. Not that Jonny Depp trash. (And I liked him in Pirates)
Well there you have Piflak's perfectionist at work.
A perfect pipe organ made of the murderers bones, the most delicious pies ever made.
I can just imagine how that took place when the pies were served in the cafeteria. Oh yes, it would start out innocently enough with Piflak bring in the pies. But after introducing her new organ and telling what her wonderful pies are made from. To this day their is probably few that can look at a pie the same way if they were there.
I guess though Fa'lina is rather easy going...at least when it comes to Mink and the fact she's probably in the know when it comes to Piflak. Of coarse being all knowing here means she could have easily stopped Mink.

I think I actually screamed in surprise at that last panel. Wow... that is just... WOW! Amber, wow. *applauds* That is one lucky squiggly.
I'm sure he doesn't feel very lucky right now.
Better hope that Mink and Jakob are referring to what Piflak did to the murderers (and possibly those related to the murderers or something - though with the way Mink's freaking out, 'innocents who happen to be around her' being also seems like a possibility). For a moment I read the first couple panels and thought the two were saying that it was Piflak that murdered the clan member (the pronouns are unspecific), which just adds another layer to the creepy-scary-ness if you think about it too much. :erk
Wow, Mink does some interesting visual things in this comic, and I'm not just talking about the last panel. I mean, just look at that expression in panel one. In a way, it doesn't look like Mink to me. Overall, a side of Mink we don't normally get to see, and not really in a good way.

I would imagine that after several centuries of running a place like SAIA, there isn't much that Fa'lina
hasn't seen. Or experienced...
Well, at least now Mink has more room to hide. XD
Also, what WOULD Piflak's reaction be to that? Would she be angrier that Mink tried to hide in her boobs, or that he didn't pick a less obvious hiding place?

Piflak's boobs are
MAGNIFICENT! Of course they would attract squigglies as only the most
MAGNIFICENT! of bosoms would.
And with that folks, we see an octopus's ability to squeeze into the smallest of spaces. And since Fa'Lina's dress is not bulging from an additional person (compared to Jakob's), Mink is squeezing very very tight in there. :]
Question is... Where's the rest of Mink's body? That ample bosom may be on the liberally large side, but even a squiggles has some form.
And Piflak's sounding more and more awesome with each new word said about her. >3

As for the comic, if Talliopa has in fact been murdered by Hizell, Piflak is going to have a big problem. In fact, Piflak pie would be a lot more likely. For that matter, Piflak vs Destania wouldn't have a certain outcome either.
Though I suspect Mink's thought is that she might be after a Dan pie, despite the fact that he doesn't even know who Talliopa is, is under Fa'Lina's protection and that if she did succeed, Piflak would then risk assassination from both Destania and likely Cyra as well.
EDIT: For that matter, honouring Talliopa's memory by murdering people she liked and their line? That doesn't sound right...

Pies... usually have meat in- oh no wait, fruit-like pies are the standard in other countries aren't they? Things I never remember because when somebody says 'pie' in Australia, they're *always* talking about meat pies...
Also Mink squishing Jakob's cheeks :3 freakin adorable
So at first I was baffled at the range of expression--why would Mink be so 'eager' in the first frame, then horrified, then dripping with an almost jealous appreciation of the foodstuff... then it occured to me.
Clan Jin's affinity is Joy.
And if Piflak was *enjoying* herself as she prepared the musical instrument AND the foodstuffs... for a Clan of healers... that could be one of the most terrifying experiences...

I've already tried those kinds of pie and they do have meat in them. Though the faces made in the cafeteria after they were half way done and Piflak dropped that bomb probably would have been just as interesting as the flavor. So were their takers on seconds? :P

Honestly, kids these days... no manners, and absolutely lacking in epicurean taste. Why, they're hardly worth bothering with anymore. If it weren't for their manners, I'd have sworn them off years ago.
I'd say that Mink is in quite the comfortable place there in Fa'Lina bosom.
That... is very much octopus behavior - I had a teacher that had a loverly photograph of the time an octopus hid in his diving mask. His wife took the picture.

Well.. we don't know enough to assess Piflak vs. Destania. I bet that computer modelling battles like that will make a very popular TV programme in Furrae one day.
I suspect that if Hizell was involved, Piflak *would* seek help from other clan leaders, or at least powerful Cubi - she isn't an idiot.
Which is probably the whole point of this charade if the perpetrator is really Hizell - tug on both of them in a manner they can't refuse, because he feels strong enough to take the whole lot on - possibly due to having allies on his own.
If , on the other paw, this was someone duplicating Hizell's style, then it might not have anything to do with Destania at all.. simply trying to provoke at least one of his enemies into a battle, then come in in the style of "Where two fight, the third wins" and either mop up the victor, or just quietly reinforce their own positions.
In very, very remote theory, this could even be the work of Destania herself - she wouldn't have a difficulty taking down her unsuspecting friend , and if the plan was well done, could even justify it with a "Sorry , girl, but it's for the greater good of our race." style of thing.

That would be a very, very silly modus operandi. However, if it was really the kind of plan like shown above, then Piflak would have a legitimate reason to make a replica of Erich Zann violin from Dan's unfortunate body. (Again, bonus points for catching the reference)

'The Music of Erich Zann' by HP Lovecraft. And I suppose Dan being threatened with execution for something he has no knowledge of isn't too far removed from threatening Abel with execution for something he can't prevent...
Anyway. Something that has occurred to me is that the last murderer was likely a dragon, simply because your normal Being or Creature wouldn't even give you a single rank of pipes, or even a calliope. On the other hand, a dragon would make a
lot of pies.

A second valid answer, that - in fact, i thought of the one from Jennifer Morgue by C. Stross.. which is in fact a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft. There it's actually said for the thing to be made of bones of about a dozen people or so.
Hmm, or a forcibly shapeshifted cubi? Makes me wonder whether such thing is even possible, besides, what does happen to a shapeshifted cubi dying?
I'd guess it stays in the new form.

Well, hammerspaces are common in this world - see Matilda's belt or toasters. So I think it's pretty possible that Fa'Lina had one
there - or just created it at a whim.
Not that she needs it, but to further what Mab has said: I'm going to ask that you please be more careful when referencing things that are *not* in the pg/pg-13 classification in this section of the forum, particularly ones as easily searchable as this. We don't want folks to stumble upon it from here, nor do we want to be associated with it. The topic was already skirting the pg-13 (albeit due to something said in the comic itself) but it doesn't need to go any further.

I knew that the meeting wouldn't just be a simple meet & greet, but I'm now wondering if it will end up as a full on Machiavellian death match. Strangely enough, I keep trying to think what such a pipe organ would look like.
I don't know which is more horrifying - that such an instrument exists at all or that it's been used so much that people start wondering why it hasn't needed tuning yet.
I believe that students have always had questions about the cafeteria food. At the University of Colorado, students named one of the cafeterias the Alferd Packer Restaurant and Grill. (http://umc.colorado.edu/dining/aprg/) If you are brave, you can google the knave.
With regard to the pipe organ, my first thought was something like the organ from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. My second thought was about the method Piflak used to keep it in tune. My conclusion was that she used magic.
