...and if you do that again I'm confiscating your arms.
Funny how things turn out, Kria ends up a lot like her father and Dev end up like his former self despite having no memories.

Anyone care to guess where Amber got the words for that letter card?
Here's a hint. Sing along if you know all the words.
F is fire that burns down the whole town.
U is for uranium...bombs!
N is for no survivors, when you...
I probably just gave away the answer with that, but oh well.
The one thing Kria did manage to do is make Devin quite a bit nicer than he used to be. And the whole PT meme is rather caring.

Well, she raised Beings in the school at Zinvth. I can see Devin 2 appealing to her maternal instincts.
I do wonder how Abel is taking this, though.
I'm just happy to get a bit more insight into Devin's recreation... and more pictures of Kria.

And to think he can't even comfort himself with ice cream... poor Devin.
Kria...While still a demon, doing what most demons do, manages to be semi-sweet. Heck, she may be more than SEMI-sweet.

Wow. Reliving her past always seemed like a possibility, but it seems like she got more out of it then I possibly could have imagined. She got to teach again and go through all the joys and blunders of raising a kid.
Kria probably is a better mother then his own was, strange words to think on.
Though I wonder if Devon has a fear of what ripped his arms off?

So true. The more I learn about Kria, especially through the backstories, the more I love her. :cvheart She does have a great maternal quality, albeit mixed with a good amount of crazy. But who doesn't love the crazy? :P

So that's how Dev got the detachable golden arms. I wonder what ate them. :mowcookie
N is for No survivors... was Kria trying to jump start his memories or what?
everyone who read the Abel arc probably already knew Kria was a teacher. My question is if Lorenda knew.
Aw, that last panel is teasing. But, eh, I guess it should be expected (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TeasingCreator). XD;
Seems while Devin had one major accident that took his arms off, he had other accidents as well. I'm guessing one that took off the last... fifth? of his tail and one that did something to his right hand.
I see one of the things Kria taught about was changing clothes, though I wonder how that might be different for undead... I mean, I don't think the clothes would get sweat stains, or anysuch, but being undead might allow something to rub off on the clothes. Speaking of different outfits, I'm pretty sure I've seen Kria's outfit in panel 3 somewhere before, or at least the belt.
Not sure if this was brought up before, but anyone notice that sentient Undead seem to like soft and fluffy things? With Hannah it was made fairly obvious, and Dev's cast page mentions him putting effort into keeping his tail fluffy.
Panel 3 is really touching, especially in contrast with the preceding one which makes much fun in the way of imagining what else is in that book. Z is for Zinvth?
Heh, it seems Kria's maternal instincts kicked in and her oddity of, "what do I care about what they think of me", lets her just get on with it.
And man, she looks so happy in Panel 2, she really do enjoy teaching people stuff.
I wonder if she has a specialty ?
Like, bloodletting 101, or pillaging and ransacking for beginners ?
I wonder if there's other beings/creatures out there that she has picked up like a stray kitten, like she did with Devin ?
I can just imagine what would happen if she picked up a lost angel child.
"But Kria, you're a Demon, you can't bring up an Angel !"
"You just watch me !!"
And then ten years later, a lovely young fallen angel graduates school. :)
Ooops ... did I say fallen ? He heee he he he.
Anyways, I enjoy reading stuff with Kria in it, she's a fun character that can make an awkard sitation into a hilarious one in no time at all.

While it's possible Kria might neglected telling her, it probably wouldn't have been from trying to hide it. She might even still be an occasional teacher.
I'm pretty sure one of the books Kria uses to teach Devin would be their equivalent of "The Gashlycrumb Tinies" -- gotta love her in that second panel - she's having such a good time.
Am I the only one to notice that she said "regained a soul" not "regained their soul"? It could all be a random jumble of who got what soul. Now, would the lost memories be with the soul or the physical brain? Or an integral (now swiss-cheesed) combination of both?

Given that Angels in the DMFA Verse angels can be just as bad as demons* if not worse 'fallen' angels are quite likely.
*But generally more subtle
I really, really, really, really hope that this isn't the last story arc in DMFA. I love all the characters too much. I trust Amber not to do anything too heartwrenching but I'm still nervous about what's coming. Especially about Mab. I really want the "Blissful" Mab from the characters page back. And Pip is starting to scare me. I know that Amber said in 2005 that she didn't have any plans to end the strip. But that was 6 years ago now.

I would also like to know the answer to this question, but I doubt we'll get one.
The problem is that the link between what is effectively the mind (memories/skill set/personality/muscle memories) and the soul has always been a very vague and grey area in DMFA.
I mean, do we even know how long a soul can even retain its mind and individuality without a body to maintain it? Do souls really have a "best resurrected by" date?
And on top of this, the act of necromancy itself has also always been a bit of a grey area in DMFA.

Well yeah, the question of Devin's soul has been out there for awhile now because of what's on his cast page:
"Being one of the first Undead before sentience was re-gained, and having had to create his personality from scratch once he did regain sentience...it is unknown if Devin's soul is that of the original being or if it is an all new individual entirely. Either way, Devin seems to not care."
I doubt we'll get an answer directly... maybe somehow it'll be answered later in the comic. I'm inclined to believe it's the original soul just because it'd be super depressing if it wasn't.

Devin beat a Wookiee at chess. That's what happened. :U
Just so we're clear: There is an end to DMFA and, last time she and I talked about this (which could be months ago, I don't remember), it wasn't any time soon.
Hooray! So I can look forward to reading DMFA for a long while to come! And the imbrius rejoiced! (/rejoice)
Looking at this, I was reminded of the Halloween version of One Finger, One Thumb (http://www.6lyrics.com/one_finger_one_thumb-lyrics-the_wiggles.aspx) that we used to sing in the Boy Scouts. We would replace the words "Keep Moving" with the words "Keep Losing". I believe that it could either refer to zombies or lepers in that they were known for losing body parts. One of the verses in the modified version contained "one, arm, two arms, keep losing".
You know, for a demon lady of of great power, who simply wants her progeny to burn and pillage a town or two, it seems like Kria has managed to raise two very nice, well-adjusted people. :3
Or so it seems, anyhow.
Yeah. One of Amber's running assumptions for this comic seems to be that evil doesn't have to be random maliciousness. Incredibly obvious reference being here. (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_918.php) So Kria might be pure evil, and yet still be a good mother. And her kids, adoptive or otherwise, are clear proof of this.

yes, and given Kria was a teacher in the past, we all know that some teachers can be the purest form of evil to be found ever to exist.

Which begs the obvious question....what does she have in mind after DMFA? Abel and Lorenda's Furry Adventures? :-)
I do like how Amber goes for the Japanese style/Hayao Miyazaki evil characters that have realistic motivations, complex personalities, and naturally perform some good actions that are consistant with their internal philosophies. That in contrast to western-style/Disney evil characters who have no redeaming qualities so as not to confuse the audience when they inevitably die.

I am thinking that he will handle her a touch better than he does Fa'Lina. Kria was his mothers friend and that was not a lie. The only thing that might set him off on her is if he remembers the outpost and puts 2 and 2 together.

Whoa, what a thought. With all of that time available, the undead would be good candidates for professorial positions. Many of the instructors I've had already resembled the undead to some small degree... And the administrators would love having instructors who don't need to eat or sleep! Hmmm... I'm not sure of that. Maybe by association, but by her own hands we only know of two, possibly four that have been killed by her.
While we know she killed Lorenda's father and mistress, we don't know exactly what happened to the gardener and pizza delivery man. She also seems to gotten away without killing anyone on her mission in the past where she found Abel http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Abel_69.php .
It also seemed like she was more like warning off Jyrras that he should be quite so the more aggressive creatures don't get him stuck in their teeth. After all, Kria could have taken an arm if she really wanted too.
It just seems like Kria likes chaos and mayham. It doesn't seem like she makes killing her pleasure. More like it's just business for her. Though a lot could have happend in beetween Abel's story and the main story.

The evil murdering bitch award still resides with Destania for her time in SAIA. Also, despite motherhood slowing her down she is still apparently planing genocide.
In parallel with Kria - Regina, I bet Aaryanna already outmatched her former teacher in head count, being shallow and indiscretive she is.

Considering that Kria is twenty times as old as Regina (418 to 23) and known to go on occasional rampages I would very much doubt that Regina has managed to kill more people than Kria, Regina just hasn't had the time to do so yet.
Kria just has discretion in where she rampages: Way, way, way off panel. She terrorizes areas outside the comic's main setting.
