Actually I'm not quite sure what happened in panels 2 and 3... (then again I'm half alseep)
What spell did Abel use? Something gassy by the looks of it.
Hah! He did the sword trick again! Nice one.
unholy cow!
I hope the visual effect of Abel's spell isn't a big slapping hand? :mowtongue
I think Abel just quick buffed his wings and bashed Lorenda with them into the kitchen. I wonder how jumpy Able would be if he played Silent Hill XD.
Mmmmmmmmm. Lime flavored.
What? :)

Cute, but it kind of broke the thread naming convention.
Prediction of next comic:
Jy: What the hell Abel! we don't punch friends into another room!
Abel: I'm sorry! I think I'm going mad! I saw a floating bubblegum bunny girl!
Jy: Oh, you met Debbs?
Abel: You... know her?
Jy: I should think so, I'm her father.
Abel:........ (feeds on his own confusion until he gets a massive headache)
Of course, now I've said this its wrong....
edit: -5, I annoyed that many people?
Oh that sword trick it's been so long since I saw it.
Btw, Jyrras was spooked too. Question is, who was spooked more. If Jyrras knew magic or took combat classes would he sucker punch lorenda too or almost do it?

Ugh, forgot about that D:
Hmm... I noticed the spell in the second panel, though I didn't look much at details. Actually, to me, that 'arc' near Abel's hand looks like a ring or 'disc' of magic around his hand (not too different from the shields or Abel's ward), except you can only see part of the edge.
...Anyway...
Abel's tail is fluffed again. I like seeing the flufftail. :mowmeep It kinda reminds me of my own cats. It's straight too. And his wings are also fluffed. :mowsmile Fluffyyyy~
...And now I'm wondering what Abel would look like if all his fur was standing on end, and I mean ALL of it. :mowwink
I also just noticed the '(magical) SUCKERPUNCH!' between panels two and three. Or is that new? I'm pretty much just wondering whether the thread was named for it, or if it was put there because of the thread.
EDIT: Also, looking at the bubble tails; Amber, if you continue with this for awhile, may I give a little suggestion? When someone's shouting or screaming or suchlike, in addition to the little 'explosions' (or whatever you'd like to call it), try making the bubble tail straight, narrow, and pointy, possibly even with motion lines nearby as if to suggest that the tail is 'snapping taught.' It should help give what the character says/shouts more 'punch.' :mowwink
At least it wasn't FALCON PUNCH!!!
Maybe more like Haiwaian Punch. :3

Yes he did, and he STILL screwed it up. That is one of his swords/daggers being ported in. The Sucker Punch Spell came from his wings.

(A) Able would have to twist his hand to hold the knife if that was the way it was forming, or else he would drop it. (B) I was going to make the case that the gas matches the color of the magic, but I can't find a matching Point of Reference. (C) I guess the gas spell could have come from the wings.
Basically though, I think the implication of the hand in panel two was that Abel jumped with the (magical) SUCKERPUNCH as soon as Lorenda jumped out; thus she was cut off mid sentence when the gas-spell hit. Otherwise Abel would have had to panic-react to punch her, but still have taken long enough so that Lorenda could start talking to Jyrras. The more likely scenario (in my opinion) is that he reflexively threw the gas spell and readied all weapons before his brain kicked in.

Losers everywhere.
Also: Am I the only one who thought Able punched her with his wing/tentacle things? I mean... that's totally what it looks like happened.
No, I don't have a diagram to prove it.
Actually for the first few seconds, I though Lorenda had burped or something. There was all this weird green gas in the last panel. I only saw the spell in the middle panel afterwards...
Unsilenced, I have no doubt that other people at some point thought that Abel punched Lorenda, but now none of them will admit to it for fear of the crazies.
If I have to look at more diagrams about the comic, I'm going to tearoom this thread.
No diagrams here. Just appreciating the story line.
Putting aside the guesswork, I like the simple logic behind Abel's fighting style.
Nobody bleeds.
He created instant armor when Jyrras accidentally tossed a knife at him, and used some sort of blunt impact on Lorenda. This really fits his problems with the sight of blood. The two daggers might be for show, or as a last-resort defense.
Amber must have put a lot of thought into this.

tbh, I'm pretty sure most of the people in this thread have been putting far more thought into this than Amber has been. To me, the biggest jump-out was the crack about the decaf coffee, and I'd be willing to bet that most of the comic was built around the gag, rather than notions of how Abel attacks people when he's frightened half out of his mind.
And an opportunity to draw a Silly Lorenda, and humorous violence.
Jeez you folks have been overanalyzing it and not paying enough attention to Lorenda bugging out her eyes, sticking out her tongue, making silly noises-and getting whacked across the room for it.

Don't need one. Just look down.
Both of Abel's wings are in tentacle form, and that's what is emanating the green gas. His left one is the one that took the shot-see it, on the ground right under where Lorenda was standing?
Abel panicked, shot out his wings as tentacles while porting in his daggers. The closer one-the left one-connected while the right one tried to loop around Jyrras-before Abel caught his mistake.

Speaking of a blunt fighting style...
... your average blunt object doesn't make blood spatter. But only on the first strike. After that, there's usually blood all over the show. So... a blunt object fighting style buys him one hit.
But then, he'd get that from reading minds anyway. And he'd get one from hitting first, too. So... it's all a bit of a wash.

The Demonology 101 (http://www.missmab.com/Demo/demon.php) article on demons says that they have "the ability to turn their skin razor sharp and diamond hard." Which implies that the ability needs to be activated rather than being constantly in effect.
Also there is the added complication that lore is a half demon and therefore weaker than a pure blood (http://www.missmab.com/Demo/HG11.php), we don't even know if she even has that particular feature.
update: -7 for two posts.
Something that has been bugging me for a while... Why does Amber keep saying "It will be up later today", when what she actually means is "I'll post it for the next scedualed update"? I have no problem with her missing an update, mind. Beggers can't be choosers. My annoyance is with the promise of an only minor delay in the update, when the update for that day has been dropped outright.

Mind you, if Amber posts the comic just as I upload this post, I'll look like a bloody idiot. Roll the dice, take your chances. *Shrug*

The suckerpunch is the focus and all, but anyone else notice that Jyrras didn't scream and run away like his usual self? What is up with that? I guess maybe Lorenda jumping out and yelling "BOO!" is more common than we might think because Jyrras almost seems to be used to it.

Gah! I thought I made it clear in my post that I understood that life sux, s#it happens, and comics get missed. The point, and only point, of my last post was to make notice that "It will be up later today" was becoming code for "Check back next scedualed update". That is it. I have the utmost respect for Amber, and understand in a vague way that trying to cram script writing, drawing, posting three updates a week, AND holding down a full time job is tough. I blame my Asperger's syndrom for my inability to portray that properly last post. Sometimes I think I've given enough information to get my point across, and it just isn't so.
Also, I would have had this reply up sooner, but my computer died and I had to dig an older one out of moth balls.
Not to downplay the difficulty of what Mabbers does, but I should note that she doesn't have a full time job atm (at least, not as of last I talked to her which was, admittedly, about a week ago). That said, she does have a lot of other things on the go to make up for the fact that she doesn't have an actual full time job. (Commissions etc)
