So only now he complains about his wardrobe. Seems to me he wore a dress -er- 'robe' rather, for a few years. Oh that silly Dan! :B

Why yes, Amber, you can experiment with the characters as much as you want.

So, Question for the Readers: What do you think various characters' body types will be?

"minor for some while others will probably look a bit more drastic"?

What on earth could she. . . . .IEEEEEEE!  Run, it's Earzilla! And this time he's hungry!!!!

Also, I beg to differ with Amber on one key point.  Fa'Lina does have a couple of noticable differences in her body type versus the other female characters.  That's all the variety I need!   :)

Dan's been wearing that Robe for so long he hasn't had to wear much else.
Now Dan is maturing into a young individual and he is questioning his wardrobe.

Dan 3.0 looks good.

Dan's obviously spent too much time in SAIA! His fashion sense has changed. Or Abel did that. You can't trust the sneaky places/peoples. Yus yus.

And to learn how to draw different body types? Go to a gym!

...

What? It's to draw the different types of peoples' bodies that go there to gym it up.

Well, a pink jeans aren't what one might think as a prime example of masculinity. Of course, we have to remember that we assume that the gender of a cloth is the same as its wearer.

What exactly makes Dan's clothes gay? I'm not good with this sort of things. A sleeveless shirt? Turquoise color? Hell, I'd wear that shirt. I mean, shirt that would be similar to that one. Never realized that Dan's physic is so close to mine.

I think you're right on the second guess.  I expect Abel got bored again and decided to use his time to reconstruct Dan's wardrobe.

You must admit, Abel definitely wants to avoid sleeping right now!

I'm going with this.  Done with interior decorating, Abel has moved on to Cubi Eye for the Confused Dan and plans to syndicate soon.

Yes, but he also recommended wearing longer sleeves.  After all, the makeup may rub off, and if he does use magic it might start to glow through the makeup.

Since when has Dan used magic in the comic proper?
Yeah, I don't think we need to worry too much about Dan using magic. Although his clan mark did show up when fighting Dark Pegasus, but that's because he was subconsiously getting power from his clan.

So far, he hasn't.  But before he met Regina he didn't go on a 'Cubi rampage either.  Past performance is no guarantee of future performance, etc.  Depending on how serious he is about DP and Regina, we could easily see him exploring avenues which he's neglected up to now.

Ah, but a gay man would rather DIE than appear in public looking less than fabulous.. . . .and if Dan's clothes have been redesigned by a gay man, then those same sensibliities now rub off on him!

Think about it.  Abel has been seen at Lost Lake showing off his own clan mark.  Apparently great fashion sense does not stop for mere concern for one's mortality!

I thought the only reason Abel "showed off" his own clan marking was because his clan has been more or less inactive (if not dead) for the last 400 or so years and that a backless shirt is the best option for instant wings (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_777.php).

As far as clothing and looking masculine is concerned Dan is probably fighting a loosing battle, his own love of flashy clothing, which being a cubi will only increase, plus the artists love of interesting clothing combined with the 'pretty boy' default many male cubi seem to gravitate towards.... and he's probably going to mistaken for gay (or a women) for a while yet.

Why would he do that? Dan has no reason to beleive that Abel has even heard of the Soulstealers.

And that looks simmiliar to outfit Abel wore....

Edit: Here we go. It's kind of a color swap of this outfit (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1101.php)...and  this outfit (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1082.php)

Where does Amber get all her ideas for clothing, anyhow? Some of the styles seem vaguely familiar, but I can't place them, really.

That might be because I know as much about fashion as a styrofoam cup of stale coffee though.

If Dan's clothes are gay, I think it has something to do with the tightness of fit and the sleevelessness.  Also, gay or not, he looks good.  >_>  Although they could stand to slim that turtleneck some.

Also, I'm kind of hoping Abel's going to do the mirror-bat-trick again.  That would involve somehow pulling himself away from the TV, though, so probably not gonna happen.

Dan: What are you do-
Abel: Gah! Nothing!
Dan: Alriiiiiight then. If you excuse me, I'm off.

Well I think some of the first big step characters that you had thus far would be Fa'lina which she looks slightly older than the younger generation of cubi. It seems that Tri-wings go a little further in maturity than their kids and grandkids even if their shape shifters too.

Than theres Lorenda, she was the first introduction to a character with a little more meet on their bones.

There have been a lot of improvement on the drawing style and of character a muscular rhino girl at a corset store, a taur cobra girl, and dragons so you keep on experimenting, can't wait to see what you come up next with.

On to the comic:

A subject of gayness in the way he looks and a need to look up the Soulstealer family, sounds like a its time for Abel to make his entrance. :P

I am as well.  She's been bemoaning her girly boys for a while and her overall inability to make more muscular characters has been nagging at her (as I believe she said in her FA, as well) so it's nice to see she's getting some progress in that area.

That explains a lot.

I've been noticing the fashion styles of DMFA for ages. They always have that extra flair that shows that the artist is expressing herself through the clothes designs, but they always work with the situation and characters, never being self indulgent or fashion for the sake of fashion.

Comparing the current set of clothes (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1108.php) with this somewhat older version (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1017.php) doesn't seem to reveal much difference.  Perhaps the difference is not in the clothes.

Why should Dan ask Abel?  Kria Soulstealer is a demon who has been around a few hundred years.  Who else does Dan know who has been around a few hundred years?  Other than Destania, who hasn't shown herself to be the most approachable.

What do you think that Lorenda and Dan would think if they find out that Kria was Abel's elementary school teacher.  (Other than wondering about what she taught.)

Since when has Dan used magic in the comic proper?

So far, he hasn't.  But before he met Regina he didn't go on a 'Cubi rampage either.  Past performance is no guarantee of future performance, etc.  Depending on how serious he is about DP and Regina, we could easily see him exploring avenues which he's neglected up to now.
Not directly.  But Dan did siphon some of Cyra's magical energy during his battle with DP.  That led to his clan mark becoming visible.

That does raise the question when we will actually see Able TEACHING Dan some magic instead of just showing off (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_552.php).

Dan, Dan, Dan.

Since when is it gay to show your fangirl horde your abs? You are a silly Dan.

Here Here....I'll second that
Dan is looking a little more of a beefcake.  Can't wait for another shirtless moment...

Or better yet. . . . . . "PANTS!" (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1007.php)

I swear I don't know how Amber keeps her PG rating on this comic. . . .

I think it's a bit on the line of PG/PG-13 now that AS is underway.

I was under the impression that the power he's connected to is power in general, rather than just magic.  So when he needed it, he summoned a little energy to be able to smash DP's arm in with his wings (and possibly hold on to life as well).

Definitely not bad for a first attempt, though I admit I'm also not an expert (I myself have only really tried to draw muscles once... or maybe twice).  This isn't so much a tip on how to draw, but I think I'll offer the suggestion that I was given and say that the super hero comics (e.g. Marvel) have loads of muscles to use as reference.

Anyway, here's to hoping there's improvement in muscles and other body types, in how they look as well as how they move.  :mowwink

I'd think that Cubi wings are likely to be highly magical, due to the fact that they can shapeshift.
After all, Magic is a part of the DMFA universe, so it rather makes sense for them to use magic that way.

Most likely, most of the muscle definition on a character such as Dan, would disappear, since he has fur.

I dunno - you can distinguish different cat body types, and even see some musculature through fur.
Not like with people . but it is essentially similar to some mid-thickness clothing if not pufffed up

That's not a bad thing though.

Well if Dan is now channeling Cloud now, who would be Squall then? Abel?

I will admit he'd look good in Squall's coat.  :3

If old art counts Dan has lost a significant amount of muscle tone since his adventuring days.  Here  (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_119.php) we see him presumably the height of his career. Later on  here  (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1007.php) he is quite skinny.

Woo... Dan's been hitting the gym! Now all he needs is a haircut... :3

Funnily enough, I have the exact opposite problem when it comes to drawing. I love detailing musculature, but I suck horribly at clothing or pudgier body types.

Quite possibly, but the subject is about Dan's active use and practice of magic, not passive and residual usage.  Dan has avoided almost any magic use up until the present time.

You do bring up a point though. Dan was practicing shapeshifting his headwings a while back (Wokka, wokka (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_621.php)), but apparently that is either an innate ability of Cubi or does not draw enough magic to trigger his clan symbol to manifest itself.

Sometimes...  I once had a 5 pound cat with 3-4 inch fur.  She looked like a normal cat, but first timer pick-her-uppers would nearly chuck her into the ceiling because they thought she was a lot heavier than she was.

The Law of Conservation of Masculinity: A rise in body manliness results in a proportionate increase in costume feminity.

ΔB=ΔG, where B equals beef and G equals girlishness.

Also, I'm pretty certain Dan is dressed by a girl. Specifically, Amber.

In comparison, my parents had a cat, a big ginger and white tom, (originally called Gingernut; changed to Gingernutless after his operation, and now responds to Nutless. I love my family.) who looked like a ball of fluff. Short haired, but very long short hair, if that explains it.

I think he weighed in at around 18-20lbs (8-9kg) and I've seen him go over an 8 foot fence without touching it on the way up, from a standing start.

Worst moment was watching my youngest brother, when he was about three, carrying the cat up the back hall. He had his arms around the barrel of the cat's chest, both front paws sticking up into the air, a look of utter death on his face, and his back feet dragging on the ground, as this toddler carted him down the hall with a look of utter joy that he'd caught a kitty on his face.

I remember being concerned that the cat would bite or scratch the child, but a split second after the child's grip loosened, the cat was gone like a streak of lightning, no waiting around to exact revenge at all. Damn funny.

I miss that cat. As I recall, he took no shit from anyone, nohow.

Hmm, i had a cat like that, Sabina.
Was black, about 5 kg, but looked way lighter due to being sort of strong and having really tall legs.

Now that cat, did not take shit from anyone, except maybe me sometimes Seriously, i have yet to see a more aggresive and more loyal cat.

An example story:
When we got her to have the chip put in the veterinary, fun started. He wanted to do cool and put it in with no sedation despite my advice against.
In the bag (it took two people, half an hour to get her to the bag, and she ended giving me a karate kick to the stomach (seriously when i was holding her to insert to the bag)
In he veterinary she already was growling like an angry dog.
The doctor took the cat out by the neck-skin  she was sitting upon air, being stiff with rage.
He asked his assistant to pack the cat into a towel except for head (works for normal cats)
She constricted causing it to loosen, then started turning inside at a rate of about 1Hz so that the doctor could not hold it... and crapped itself, so that everything around was dirty.
When he momentarily released it, she escaped. On the way were two waiting dogs... the smaller at least twice the cat's size .. they got scared of her.
She run behind some plants at the window, dropping anything lighter.
The doctor understood now, and took an injection. he catched the cat, her jaws open at right angle, stung it and masterfully avoided a bite.
Then he gave the chip to the paralysed cat.
Funniest thing was that even at home, she was stumbling around, but when anything touched her she jumped up like shot.

I miss her, was killed by some idiot automobilist close to a year ago.

Ah cats ... used to have a part time cat when I lived in the country.

ie. he came home in the winter when it was too cold outside, which was pretty darn rare since it was a mix between a Norwegian Forest Cat and a Russian Blue, both breeds that handle the cold well. The bloody thing weighed in at almost 12kg and no fat on it either. According to the vet, his unusual high weight was in part from being in exceptionally good shape from living in the wild, while having "backup food" from me, allowing him to reach his full size.

Even so, it was impossible to see any musculature under his coat.
He looked just like any other medium/long hair cat, except he was big.

Correct, the main traits it got from the Russian Blue was the fur, which is a short/medium length fur (http://media.photobucket.com/image/russian%20blue/winston311/winston4.jpg?o=27).
Size and buildwise it was very much alike a Norwegian Forest Cat.

Also, there are a couple of russian blue strands, that tend to get quite large in size, but they are not heavy in general, even if large.
Russian Blue's can be lanky and long limbed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnD1LQONUCE&NR=1), rather than stocky. Norwegian Forest Cats is a bit in the opposite direction.

And the cat I had, was large *and* stocky, so it was heavy as well.
