Seitch OWNS you!
http://www.deviantart.com/view/34944523/
Seitch is Marin Vampwing's character that I felt that I should draw since she's given me so many pics including (but not limited to) a mini-series she's been doing for my comic.
I'm scared. D:
Loathe as I am to ask this, did you get anywhere with the cover? :3
I haven't had much time to work on it because of work, but I realized that I could just work on my drawings during the slow times. I kept forgetting my references on your pic the last few times and so did a couple other quick sketches instead. Now that I remembered to bring them though, I forgot them at work... Should be safe there though. There's only two employees left who aren't on vacation and I can trust them. It's not the first time I've forgotten stuff over there either. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v129/jaguarstarrunner/emotes/Jamessweatdrop.gif)
Besides a couple drafts, I have the pyramid done.
Heeeere's Netami!
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38324288/
No, this doesn't mean I had time recently to draw anything new, I just forgot this was on the computer. My first attempt at Netami's character.
You have done well young grasshoppa. Bringing new ninja into the world, and all spiffy-like.

Indeed. Definitely Netami, and definitely done by James. Perhaps the face is a little flat, and he'd look a little creepier with the scarf thing he usually wears..
cute^^
Now you must do a pirate to have balance!!

either way, great art James!
It wasn't Photobucket that killed your pic, it's the forum. The max dimensions of pics are 500x500 pixels, and if that is exceeded, the image is automatically (and crappily) resized. It'd be good to post a link to the original image.

Alternatively, if you right-click and do 'View Image' (I'm assuming IE can do that too, I don't use it) you'll see the full image.
Nice work by the way, although I find the paleness a little disturbing.

In brightest day or After Dark
When times of trouble are at hand

And hope is blazing 'cross the land!

Salvation from above
A precious gift they bring
Gleaming angels of love

The imagery is taken from "Quest for the Sacred Jaguar", a 13-minute epic type thing. The man is most likely going to be kneeling before the beast on the steps of a Mayan temple.
It can be found at http://www.dougtheeagle.com - with the original cover.
**EDIT**
Oh yeah, to preempt any thread hijacking, comments about the album itself should go to

version 5? sounds like you're undecided :U
but coudn't he use more armor? or less armor?
I think it's kinda pointless to wear a piece of armor that sums up to only a chestplate
He's got a fine chain vest underneath his tunic. Although it looks like a shirt right now, you can still kind of see it poking out a bit.
QuoteMy gods...He's cool
Would I ever draw anything that isn't cool?

Posting this is kind of bending the rules, but it's effectively a collaboration with James, so...
"Silhouette must 'ave done zis!"
James drew this, it's a work-in-progress for the inside artwork on one of my CDs. I've converted the pencil sketch into a silhouette, which was my original idea. James however has been putting more and more detail into the picture, and since it is turning out so well, I can see I'm going to have to use the full-colour version too.
I may use this version on the second disk and the full version on the third one, since both CDs have songs about the same character..
Wow, the Silhouette looks better than I thought it would have despite it eating up all those details!
Ow, the non-anti-aliasing-ness is making my eyes bleed. It looks good apart frmo that, though. :cool

Actually it has been antialiased - the first one was much worse. I've run a simple 2x blur - gaussian caused it to have a fuzzy outline which is dead wrong - shadows are crisp. Also, redrawing all the edges to be straight makes it look wrong too since the clothes are made from cloth - I kind of like the ragged look.
However, unlike Autodesk Animator (1988) Gimp doesn't seem to have an 'unzag' filter which is what I really want - something to only antialias the corners and not fuzz out straight lines.
Still nice shadow effect though foo
An old... old character of mine finally redone, getting the fame he deserves. He'll actually be in an upcomming web-comic
featuring multiple artists (though I'm the only one from DMFA). The first strip should be done sometime before Halloween, then I could post the link to it and everything.

Hmm... I hope not. Zina's not a bad artist, but I did this pic to show a point. The point being that nobody should expect me to draw any porn (even if offered money to do so). We'll see what happens in a year, it'll probably just be me getting better at drawing without lowering my standards.

It's a good thing you are not in my advanced drawing class, Nude models every monday, yeay for college drawing class, not really I hate it, which is why when class is over I turn them into fantasy creatures, made one an angel and the other a sea elf, got yelled at when I did that in class XD

It's kinda funny like that. Art itself is suppost to be creative. I've heard of drawing classes where they wear flesh coloured body suits. I really would like to take an actual art class though. I was a special guest in one for an hour and I learned tons! (So ya, I'm pretty much self taught. I lost a lot of time with trial and error)

I take it that doesn't doesn't extend to male 'taurs along the lines of Kitome? I'd say that's akin to drawing the jaguars, which are after all, technically naked.

Actually, I suspect they're trying to teach you a specific skillset - so they're assigning a task (draw this nude) and judging how well you can do the various elbows and suchlike, and what focus you put on it, etc.
I highly doubt they're -thinking- in such a structured manner, since that's very much a left-brain type thought, and artists are strongly right-brain, but that's the idea. Which explains why they get so shirty when you break the rules - they can't judge the focus and the elbows, sinceyou've changed the entire focus of the pic by adding other bits, like wings or scales etc...
I like to think I'm talking sense, here. So can anyone tell me if I'm speaking through my hat? :-)

When I was taking advance drawing classes I didn't care for it much, even if it did improve my skills, I just felt like the teacher was trying to force their style on me.

I was kinda lazy with shading... I only did the hair, but there's many thing seeking my attention, so I'll finish it later.

Nice job, Jamey ol boy. I like the eyes and hair especially.
Ya, I actually looked at a hair shading tutorial this time and tried something new for eyes. The tutorial wasn't quite for that style of hair, but I thought I improvized pretty good... Could still use more practice though.
Nice really nice
Nice. Your anatomy seems to be improving, I think. I'm not entirely sure about the tail to be honest, it's too smooth, should be more ragged and fluffy-looking.
How did you make the background?

Ya, it was a little smooth to begin with, but it seemed to get smoother after scanning/colouring it. I still didn't think much of it though.
The background? Geez... Umm... I kinda went back and forth on it as I was just experimenting. What I think it basically came down to was rendered clouds (blue and white), glass filter (tiny lens), inverted the colours, added a transparent to solid gradient on top set to about 30% opacity (at least I think it was 30%...), inverted the colours, and tweaked the colour balance. There may or may not have been more filters that snuck in. I'm going to have to see if I can duplicate that effect as I find it an interesting texture.

I ask because it reminded me of Gabriel's background here:

Hmm... I can sorta see the resemblance. Perhaps we used some similiar filters.

Awesome. It reminds me very much of the colour prints of

Okay...
Not only are the eyes a bit small, but they're also too widely spaced. Human eyes are around one eye width apart. Non-anthro wolves actually have about the same 1-1-1 eye spacing, but it appears closer to 1-2-1 because of the fact that less of their eyes are visible (exposing little more than the cornea). Here, you've given Jakob human-like eyes almost three eye widths apart, which looks quite odd.
There's a larger problem in the perspective on the head. Given the positions of the eyes and the ears, you'd expect him to be facing the camera. However, the position of his nose suggests a head tilt and more of a 3/4 viewing angle. The end result is an impression that someone bent his snout out of position. If you're redoing the eyes anyway, you should realign and reposition the right eye (his right, our left) so that it falls into the curve created by the left eye and the muzzle (and maybe move the ears a smidge to match).
The pose is pretty cool, though. :kittycool
nice work on the camo colors, though I think Paladin's face could be a bit brighter to contrast with his hair.
ack... my old art... the horror... now I got the urge to renew some more old stuff...
Zedd; less of the idiocy, please.
Awesome work once again, James. I will agree that the eyes look a bit distant from each other in the Jakob pic. His muzzle kinda looks out of position too, though that could just be me.

I was tempted to say something like "Eccles, I can not understand what he is saying..." but I think Zedd was actually asking how long it took, presumably referring to the colouring job on Pal.
Which is a very nice job. I think Tezkat's got it with the eyes - I thought they should be closer together myself, but that didn't really work either as it left a huge grey space on either side.

Switching back and forth between working on the Jakob pic and Pal's pic, it took me about most of the day.
Ya... There was so many crits on the album cover that I had to start from scratch again and then I ran into all sorts of trouble. It's still high in my priorities though.

I think you'll find the third 'tooth' is a gap between two of them. If you look closely, you'll see it's not white, but the same colour as the muzzle.
And yes, it's a pretty decent rendition.
*looks closely* Yes, I see it now.

I've been battling depression for awhile and found myself unable to draw. So it's been awhile since I've worked on anything new. Honestly, I thought I was going to be more rusty than this. Now that I've exercised my creative muscles though, it's time to finish what's long overdue and work on those commissions...
Edit: Tammy is from Chip'n Dale Rescue Rangers for the curious.

As bad as it is to regress, I still don't think I did too bad on it. There's only a couple obvious flaws. Just hope I don't butcher your commission Tape. I've done lots of edits before. Let's hope we get something down before the scenery changes... again.

I almost want to get and install NWN2 to see this in action. I don't suppose there's any chance of a video?
you sound like my friend peter when he does the voice of Leo... for my storyboard class last semester Leo was the Knight in one of the fantasy scripts written for class, Peter also did the voice of the big bad wolf, and I was the voice of an unseele merchant elf, and Lambert, the prosecuting attorney for the big bad wolf's murder trial. it was fun.

Now THIS is what I'm going to use for my professional demo! All of these clips where done on the studio microphone. All voices are done by myself (yes, ALL voices).
All ambient sound and music are either done by myself or are royalty free. Seeing as I want to use this to get work, I'd like to know what you guys think.

Perhaps it's just because I've been working with your voice for a couple of years, but I can tell that most of them are the same person. Not all, I might add - some of the ones nearer the end are a close call.
As a demo reel it sounds okay to me - there are a few mic bumps throughout it, though. Might be popping, I'm not quite sure. I don't know how much they're expecting in terms of recording quality so I don't know if that would be a problem in and of itself, but it's something I guess you should be aware of.
Seconding Tapewolf's thoughts that the voices are rather obviously similar, and also the accent drops a bit during the Dr. Jyrras part("Oh for crying out loud, we've been over this!"). Otherwise, a very good demo.
Nice. :mowcookie The production values are definitely a cut above what you see from most amateur stuff.
I wouldn't be too critical of the "similar voices" thing, since showcasing acting range is at least as important as vocal flexibility. It seems to me that the individual clips are too long, though. You could probably cut a full sentence from each of them without losing anything. For demos, it helps to assume that your target market suffers from severe ADD. :animesweat
The "brave hunter" bit was really cute and funny. :3 I actually think it could work well as the final clip.
I noticed a number of recording issues, too. It sounded like your mic was catching way too much breath in places (especially noticeable on the "cursed amethysts" bit at the end).
Yeah, just overcome the mic issues and I'm sure this will do great. I was thinking while listening to the Radio project that some of the voice actors could be professional, and you were one of them. :januscat

If we make it, I'll bring the cookies - but I can't guarantee that they will make it there. James and I both may dig into them as soon as we get on the road. We both have this thing for peanut butter cookies (and peanut butter in general) and we can't leave them alone. yum yum yum. But I'll do my best.

I've had some slight ideas in redesigning my character. Nothing too major though. Note that this is also what he looks like in the future. So far this is just the Work In Progress.
As for the slight physical changes, his ears are slightly rounded, but the small tufts make it appear pointed. The stripe on his tail is now off center and was caused by trauma. Hair style changes slightly but only in the future when he changes it himself. Also in the future, he gets that tattoo (wonder why?).
Some may notice the acorn he's always worn is gone now. Wonder what happened to it? :3

I'd say it was a patch, but the gloves were kind of doing that job.
Wait, I know... he's been 'Cubified and is using his own innate powers to hide the wings. That's what the tattoo is!
>:3
The acorn was actually a gift from Miaka and actually did serve an important purpose, but it never was a patch. >:3
Actually you're partially right with the tattoo. I'll say this much... It's supposed to resemble a clan/house marking like the cubi and it is actually magical.
Oh! Now I'm intrigued... what did the acorn do?
