A 'Disnified' Hulk, Spiderman, X-men...  The horror... the horror... it's the campy 1950's-60's nightmare all over again!

Dammit. I guess this means that Spiderman is going to make it into Kingdom Hearts III. I wanted Sora to team up with Batman!

In all seriousness... ehh. Surprising and kind of interesting, but it doesn't really affect me. I'm surprised it's only 4 billion, though. Look on the bright side: they might fire Joe Quesada. And I'm not too worried about a "Disneyfied" marvel, and even if they do, considering all of the crap going on on Earth-616, it can only be an improvement. In all seriousness, considering Pixar's continued success after being acquired by Disney, I think Disney will let marvel run itself.

Since when does becoming Disney property automatically mean Disneyfication? The first film Miramax produced after being acquired by Disney was Pulp Fiction...

THANK GOD. Another guy I was talking to said they kept all the old writers and such, Marvel is just now owned by Disney. So, maybe things will be okay. Although my dad's idea of "Wolverine vs. Goofy" still made me laugh and shudder at the same time...

Lucy is Phoenix/dark Phoenix.

I think we are over reacting about this... I mean Disney owns Miramax right and we got Kill Bill out of that. Also Disney s more about the money and Marvel is actualy making money with what they are already churning out... Im somewhat leaning that their greed may overpower their want of a family friendly image.

i dont think there would be MUCH of a difference, i mean it wasnt much of a change when WB bought ought DC way back.

this is probably not going to result in anything bad happening, Disney knows to keep its hands off when it needs to; hell, they're responsible for No Country For Old Men and Doubt via Miramax.

A crossover like that would be terrible, unless Deadpool gave Miley a scar, then it would be half good.

Reading this over, I actually have to comment...  what's with people thinking of these silly crossovers?  Chances are if there ARE any crossovers, it will be in Kingdom Hearts.  I just don't see Hannah Montana with Spiderman...  that's just not something I can see happening at all.  Disney has had its up and downs, but god damn, they aren't THAT stupid...  the worst they can maul something is how they'll probably be mauling that Prince of Persia movie with its lack of sand monsters.

Ah, Kingdom Hearts. Having played the first one through to its conclusion at my sister's insistence, I still don't know why it's so popular - the entire thing felt rather mediocre to me. But then again, I'm probably classed as an elitist git for having flaky tastes in gaming anyway.

And another from the friend who found that first comic link.

For me its pure nostalgia.  Ever since I was really young I always kind of imagined something along the lines of Kingdom Hearts...  VERY close to it, though I always imagined my own thing, and eventually some animes.  Still, it came the closest to that general feel then any other game probably ever will...  my only complaint is that, well...  it also has a very NAIVE feeling to its story...  still though, if they DID have Marvel crossovers in that game, and did them WELL and not childishly...  ......  *rolls around laughing* GOD!!  Sorry, just imagining Hulk with the crew again.  That image is just so damn hilarious to me.  Yeah, I'd probably be laughing the entire time rather than take it seriously, thinking about it.

Well, I guess I'm fine as long as they don't just press the restart button on the Marvel movies. Seriously they spent so long building up the Avengers that if Disney decides to restat everything all over again, I'm done with Marvel movies. Entirely and in every form.

*Flashback to a few decades ago*

"Hey Guys, Warner Brothers just bought out DC. This means we're gonna have looney tunes batman :("

Then eventually this  got us Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.

I'm hoping this buyout will give us anything -half- as good as that. And it would be worth all the epic fail the internet is churning and flailing about with.

Come on...A Hannah Montana/Deepool Crossover is TAME compared to having Barack Obama in his own comic. At most I imagine Marvel publishing a few comics based on Disney IPs, but nothing major. It's basic fanboy overreaction.

Besides, Earth-616 really can't get any worse right now. If there is some meddling by Disney, I hope it's giving Joe Quesada the axe.

I like Disney's style.  I've never seen where their "relentelssly cutesy" image comes from, given how many genuinely good movies they've made.

If this means we'll get to hear Norman Osborn sing, I'm cool with that.

You've got to look at it from the bright side, guys. Disney may be sugar-coated and overly politically correct, but so is almost all of American media. And bigass-company ruthlessness does not leave space for the sort of silliness that all the damn universes have been dragged through by now. As mentioned, this should lead to Mr. Cheese getting the chop and similar maneuvers.

And there is also one more thing that I want you all to think about:

Marvel + Pixar = ?

Pretty much. Marvel and DC have both, ahem... "presented themselves in a manner befitting a lady of the night" out to damn near everything out there already. There's really nothing Disney can't do that Marvel and DC have both done to themselves.

To be fair, not long after Obama's election, a pretty obvious caricature of Obama appeared in a Japanese manga called Air Gear. Here he is (http://www.onemanga.com/Air_Gear/206/015/). Here's a second image (http://www.ambrosia.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/obama-air-gear.jpg).

...and, in case I haven't quite broken your mind yet, he made an appearance in an erotic manga. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-03-12/obama-appears-in-tonari-no-taro-kun-erotic-manga) (Link is work-safe, but I can't guarantee brain-safe. I mean really, people.)

After seeing, hearing, and laughing at everyone panicking the living hell over Disney buying Marvel. I have to say I remember freaking out about Warner Brothers buying DC back in the day, how everyone touted that Batman would be relabeled to be more like bugs bunny. That DC would lose all it's characters and how there would be terrible terrible crossovers of epic failure.

So now we have it again, but now the internet is more widely available so you can hear these lawlcows laughing off in the distance.

I loved how Disney Bought Miramax back in the day, cuz the first film they made after the buyout happened? Pulp Fiction. Mmmmm.
Disney has had some decent stuff lately, while Pirates of the Carribean isn't the best movies of all time, they showed that at least Disney had balls, and like everything disney has ever done.

They throw -tons- of budget into everything they do. Whether it be animated TV shows, live action movies, or animated features. Disney has always thrown a lot of oomf into whatever they work on.

Keep on producing lawlz, you lawl cows.

Also, on a farewell note.

"Hey Guys, Warner Brothers just bought out DC. This means we're gonna have looney tunes batman :("

Then eventually this  got us Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.

...and Steel, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin & Catwoman.

Truth is, many of the comic-based movies just fall flat.  It takes talented writing and direction to make the stories adapt well to film, and let's face it, there is a severe dearth of any real talent in Hollow-wood.   :P

The recent Batman films reveal what can be done with a brilliant team.   :3

EDIT:  And for evidence of what NOT to do, I just found out that a "Ghost Rider" sequel, again with Nicholas Cage, has been greenlit.   Bleh.   :P

Love the second quote on that, about his height. Seems to have been quite forgotten as of late. Which was actually the one redeeming factor about Wolverine. He wasn't the typical "super ultra, taller than all around him" style super hero that is always portrayed. Oh well.

I do hope that anime is at least supposed to be after the Weapon X thing, cause judging by his face and hair, it sure doesn't look it... Then again, this is also the same country who brought us "Spiderman" : Lawl Spiderman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcxioU7AMM4).

Haha wtf he had a robot? Why? No never mind forget that. Theres no point asking why about anything made by the japanese because most often the answer will leave you more confused than you started out as.

I think Japanese television back then worked on the principle "Everything's better with robots, preferably giant ones."
