I'm opening up two slots for new characters. If you are interested, please use the form provided at the bottom (or something roughly approximating it) and submit a character!
The Mad God's Masque and Bellicose Ball
Deep in the wilderness, there is a Castle, that once a year comes to life with lights and costume and revelry to host the Scarlet Masque. A dance attended by Queens and Kings, by dignitaries and notables of all nations and race, it is considered the gala event of the year. Attendance is by invitation only, and to be invited is to receive the greatest of social honors.
This year, invitations have gone out a month early, despite the nation of Belgae, a rather repressively aristocratic country, suffering a paralyzing crop blight the previous summer, stirring the peasantry into blood-soaked revolution. All assumed the caretakers of the castle had fled, but with the invitations still going out, the Masque appears to have survived yet.
How surprised you are to have received such an honorable invitation. Damaske Castle, and a night of revelry and masquerade, surely await you.
I'm planning on starting an RP fairly soon with this as the starting point. Each one of your characters will have received an invitation to the ball, although if you feel like the character you want to use wouldn't ever actually be invited, details can be discussed.
This RP has been inspired by several different things, and as a result, is not strictly canon-furrae. All DMFA character types are welcome, with the exception of Gryphon C and Fae characters. Anything else, including things not strictly DMFA canon, are also welcome.
We see how much interest and how fast things start for this RP. - I'm hoping things should start in about a week or so.
Characters are subject to approval before admission to the RP. I would ask that applicants have a firm grasp of the English language – I'm not a grammar nazi, there are probably grammatical and/or spelling errors in this sheet, but I would ask that you are at least familiar with the basic rules of grammar. This is, after all, a written game. Enjoyment is enhanced when the writing is concise and easily able to be understood.
I also promise that the plot of the RP itself is not a fancy gathering. I also promise that, to the best of my ability, it will be a lot of fun. >:3

Oookay, I am joining in on this. >:3 *snatches an application as well*
~Keaton the Black Jackal
Don't suppose the ball needs someone on staff to go around with a tray of drinks, does it? Know a nice amphibious bloke who's good at being forgettable, might be just what you have in mind. Try to ignore the muttering to himself, we all have our habits... *grabs a character sheet as well*
sadly i do not think Ian will be attending....but maybe a mafioso like dani would be invited?

Name: Daniel Atamisk
Nickname(s): Dani
Age: 27
Race: Were
Species: Brown Bear
Family: Boris "Tin Street Killer" Strokemyer (adoptive father)
May "Busty" Strokemyer (adoptive mother)
John "The Don" Marco (decesed)
Timmy Marco (John's son)
Hair: short and manageable
Eyes: covered by the ballroom mask
Fur Coloration: brown
Appearance: Six foot, 200lbs, and heavily muscled, Dani is normally seen in heavy weave work jeans, a dark shirt, a brown suede jacket, and his trademark black designer fedora and sunglasses, and nice Vans. He always has perfect posture and a blank face.
Combat Abilities: He uses a kickboxing style flavored with streetfighting.
Strengths: Strong, intimidating, good at combat, decent in most casino games (normally gets 1.5:1 for every dollar 3:1 in black jack), likeable person, physical contests, trivia contests, and video games.
Weaknesses: Slow(er than most), loud and obvious (stealth is a no go) loyal to a fault, roulette, aracnophobia, clostrophobia, triskadekaphobia. And a strange fear of stuffed purple gorillias (Don't ask).
Weapon(s): Dani often carries the typical mobster type guns (two hand guns and a sawn off shot gun),
History: Dani is perfectly suited for the De Marco crime family. He's very strong and surprisingly bright. Raised as a boy by one of the more influential members of the family he enjoys the status of one of their most successful strong men. Though he tries to avoid it he's racked up quite the kill count and has no problem with it.
Disposition: Dani is a man all about duty. He goes in, does his job, then he's out. He respects and values family, friends and livelyhood above all other things. morally ambigious as he is working for the family is the only illicit thing he does. After
Dani took out John and his senile way of running the family things got pretty peaceful around the Marco territory. Dani now enjoys being Timmy's second hand man.
I've not RPed too much but I think I'll give it a try.
Name: Aruk Donzah
Race: Being
Gender: Male
Species: Wolf
Physical Description:
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Fur: Brown with a section of pale brown fur running from his muzzle down his torso.
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: about 199 Lbs.
Attire: A dark navy blue suit with a dark blue violet shirt and a silver tie.
Accessories: He holds a well polished cherry wood cane with a silver ball handle. About a hand's grip down from the ball there is a brass band that is similar to what one mite see on a scabbard.
Combat Abilities: Well schooled in fencing, wrestling, archery, magic, marksmanship, and piloting.
History: Born into the House of Donzah in the Kingdom of Cramot he enjoyed his childhood being attended to and free. Around age 10 he started his schooling and slowly began to see the freedoms of child hood fade. On his 16th birthday he was forced into the Cramot Military where he was taught the art of war and by his 19th was placed in charge of his own squadron, largely this was in part to his family's influence.
Also around this time the kingdom declared war on it's neighbor Geo-ku. Fortunately for Aruk the war was short as his kingdom's forces out numbered and out classed their enemy. After the war Aruk was promoted to commander and is now in control of his own airship and crew, which is currently on shore leave after patrols along the formal Geo-ku border.
Trivia: During the war he was credited with three aerial and eight ground kills. He's currently betrothed to Lady Elza of the house Maraz, whom he's never met.

To be honest I'm not sure I can spare my attention for a fourth RP, but just out of curiousity - and to highlight a possible hole before someone grabs it - is there a reason why Fae are excluded but Dragons and Tri-wing 'Cubi are not?

Well, quite a simple reason. Fae are canon munchkins. It's not fun for anyone when instead of saving the world, they get bored and turn it into a cake instead.
Gryphon C are unplayable. I shall freely admit that if anyone submits a character sheet to me that has an obviously carefully written, considered, and believable Gryphon C as a character, I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. I will also be very impressed.
As far as Tri-Wings and Dragons - thar will be dragons in the RP. As far as Cubi, if you want to submit a Tri-Wing, anyone is free to do so. All characters are subject to approval, of course, and if I feel the character is too powerful for the RP, I will ask that they be toned down.
Also, joooin uss! We will have cake! :U
Dariyl could share notes with other like-minded creatures concerning his ear collection. >:3

Character approved. Welcome to the RP, Turn. :)
Rrrgh. I wanna do it, but with my own RP and two others, it may be a bit hard. And I don't have a character. More importantly, I have nothing to wear. :P
But this has grabbed my curiosity. I'll be considering it all night.

Well, yes, but Dragons are just as powerful (if not more so). That's why I'm a little surprised at the omission. Though they seem to be less whimsical, which may make the difference.

True. Though I have trouble enough in
Rains keeping Cross in check in a believable manner... Daryil would be horrific!

I've never thought of the dragons as having the ability to turn the world into cake, while I think it's been stated the Fae probably could if they wanted to. In this RP, anyway, we're operating under the assumption that Dragons aren't quite on the same level of power.

Ahaha. From a pure power perspective, probably. The name of my RP is not incidental, however. Dariyl doesn't seem like the most mentally stable Tri-Wing either...

Not necessarily. If the RP occurs at the same time as the comic, that means Daryil will, at least, not be a tri-wing, since Future History of Jakob Pettersohn takes place 800 to 900 years after 0 A.C.
...But granted, that's me pulling a Phoenix Wright and turning the situation on its head. Logical Keaton is logical and whatnot.
I'm going to be using Elizabeth in this RP, so if you
do end up joining, somehow, then Daryil and Elizabeth can drink tea, eat crumpets, and discuss being thousands of years old together. :3

Now I'm tempted to write up a Gryphon C char. Just for the challenge. :-/
Hmmm...I'm not sure whether to join this or not. There hasn't been much explanation on what this RP is actually going to involve...and I don't know what character I should use, Mechangel, Karazkt, or make up something new...
While I certainly trust you when you say you will do your best to make this fun, Cog, I could better choose a character if I had some idea of what this RP wil involve and be like. What is, at least, going to be the basic tone and theme, if you're willing to divulge?

To quote, thematically, I couldn't put it better. Your characters are going to a ball that's taking place a month early, against all odds. There will be dragons. There will be dancing. There will be a big dam dog.
The RP will start with your characters receiving the invitation, and then arriving at the castle. Surely dancing and delight await?
Karazkt might work well, actually. Emissary from the Insectis queen and all that.

Well, certainly not from
the Insectis Queen, but possibly from the queen of his own hive-city, as I have the setup with the idea that there is one central mother-queen for the central hive, and then many queens for their own hives, which is implied to be possible in the Insectis Demo101 page.
Hmm...but I guess something like that could work, although there's the question of why
he would be sent and not someone more formal and official (unless the invitation somehow was for him specifically), but I'm probably thinking to hard about it already :B

Yeah, you would. :P
*cough* You asked for it.
Name: Rover
Race: Gryphon C
Gender: Probably male. Heck, are _you_ going to ask to see? What would you do if he showed you?
Physical Description: He's a big fluffy ball of feathers and claws and beak. Mostly the feathers. Nice brown pattern, with dark shadings, making him fairly invisible in shadows. Of course, finding something big enough to cast a shadow enough to hide him is a problem, but with his head tucked under his wing he can make a reasonable credible rock. Some grey-white streaks across his back and flanks.
Bearing in mind he's a good 30 feet tall when seated, that's more like Ayer's Rock than your average garden pebble, but we digress. A fair wingspan, in proportion to his size (ie, about 80-120ft across, when stretched - obviously innate magic is involved in getting off the ground, but let's not quibble about details), and your usual, brilliant, sparkling wit.
*cough*
Associated is a small Gryphon B named Tim, who follows Rover around making sure he doesn't cause a diplomatic incident; carries messages, gets into places he can't reach to grab things for him, that sort of thing. She's mostly grey-white (oddly enough, matching the grey-white streaks, although that's coincidental) with blue-green feathers on her head. She wears a loose, flowing, covering grey robe, that disguises any sort of distinguishing features. She carries a staff sheath on her back, but instead of a staff, it contains a rolled up newspaper; she uses this for directing Rover.
Combat Abilities: Tim is reasonable capable, and fairly bright; has a few small magic tricks up her sleeves, so to speak, and has the mental attitude to kick someone in the fork and run like the wind if necessary. Rover is more likely to lick them to death accidentally, unless command... er... direc... er, _requested_ to by Tim. In which case, he'll likely bite them in half, or stomp them flat. Rover has some small magical resistance; not a huge amount, but enough to cause the first attack to fail, usually. The second might succeed, if the spellcaster is on his or her toes; if within range, he or she will need to be, as Rover responds to being spelled without prompting.
Obviously, this causes some problems with _favourable_ spellcasting...
History: Tim and Rover have been knocking about for a fair few years, now. They've been sent out on various, ah, diplomatic missions, to represent the Gryphon races. They haven't really been all that good at it, but they're better than most of the alternatives, for all their flaws. Despite this, or possibly because of this, they've been invited to show up here. Rover thinks (in so far as he thinks at all) this is a treat. Tim thinks this might be punishment, but is at a loss to explain why. Sooner or later, she'll get an answer. She'll probably regret it.
Trivia:
- Do not ask Tim about her gender, or she will sic Rover on you. And not in a good way.
- Despite, or perhaps because of, appearances, Tim is actually a girl. Her papa was so sure she was a boy that he named her without looking. Don't ask her about this, either; it's a bit of a sore subject.
- Rover plays a mean game of fetch. His accuracy with the target is a bit lacking, though; someone once threw a stick for him, he came back with a funeral barge...
... :C
Right. Llearch is approved.
Damn players, think they're so smart... *muttermutter* :c
Remember the chicken who got voted village elder in CVRPG? Don't let people on the internet have power, they abuse it.
I think I'll enter a character for this game. Let me think for awhile...
Name: P. Melodie Icewing (don't ask what the P stands for)
Nickname(s): Mel
Race: dragon
Species ice with just a bit of lightning
Family and Association(s): Grandmother L.L.; Grandfather Howell; brothers Barron and Rage
Physical description
A rather small thin dragon with pearlescent white scales and bright blue eyes. Often seen as a snow leopard.
Biographical and general information
History: Youngest grandchild of the leader of the Icewing clan, famous/infamous as information brokers, she was raised to work in the family business. Had as normal a childhood as anyone could while being raised by her grandmother.
Abilities: Strong magical abilities with ice and lightning. Excellent shot with a crossbow (taught by her rather fearsome grandmother) Has some technological knowledge to help make up for her physical limitations
Weaknesses: Poor against earth magic due to an almost obsessive hatred of being dirty. Getting any type of spot or stain on her will drive her to distraction once noticed.
Trivia: Trying to escape the family business she ran away from home and trained as a jeweler and actually still owns a jewelry store although she seldom has time to visit it. She's quite a good jeweler, specializing in enchanted objects. Was on the championship obstacle racing team at University over her grandmother's protests due to the fact that her father died while racing.
The Mel is most definitely approved. :3

sounds fun i want in. and this time for a change i think i'll be a living feline of some sort. picks up a character sheet. i can't be robot all the time and well being undead it very challenging so far.
I am inclined to agree with Cog, Fae are most definitely far too likely to give in to the winds of whimsy to be a viable, playable race in any game.
However, from what I know of power, the dragon's age would play into their magical and physical might. A younger dragon could do nicely, but an ancient matron may not be so good.
Despite Tape's obvious expertise in this area, I would have to say that a tri-winged cubi is far... far... too powerful for anyone to play. The scope is just too high for anyone, and they are far too rare to be playable anyways. It might be more reasonable to ask if you could play Bahamut the platinum dragon. Even in my near infinite audacity, never did I think I should be so special as to rate playing my own tri-wing.
Tis my take on that. Dun worry I won't be playing here... I know that is not wanted.

I think you may have misunderstood my posts. Personally, I think allowing Tri-Wings is a mistake, which is why I questioned it. If you ever read the early OOC thread of
Rains you may remember that Keaton went apeshit because someone (who will remain nameless)
did try to use a Tri-Wing character.
If Cog thinks he can keep them in check, more power to him. If I were to play as Daryil (which was Cog's suggestion, not mine), it would not be in his ascended form.

Aww. No ear collection? >:3
Under certain circumstances, I feel it might be possible to play a good Tri-Wing character. I'd allow it at my discretion, of course, and it would also depend on what player is asking, but I think that it could be done. That said, I think that if one wanted to play a Cubi character, it could probably be done better as a normal two-winged one.

<gets smacked upside the head by muse with a wet haddock> Oh yes, I think I can do this...
WTH, what's one more RP? <picks up a character sheet>
Hooo. Had trouble deciding what I wanted this character to be, then my muse refused to work. I showed her who's boss. The following is my application.
Name: Nak Treein
Race: Demon
Gender: Male
Species: (if applicable) Sheep
Physical Description: Fur of deep green kept short and neatly groomed covers the ovine; white hair cut into an unassuming style tops his head. Small, green, oval eyes sit behind the brow, but not cavernous. The horns above his mane nearly loop around long ears, the left of which holds two studs. A black robe, tailored to be worn open and remain fitting, flows to mid-shin. An oxford, dark blue, tucks into black slacks, held by an ebon belt. Thin, light blue gloves grasp his hands and a grey-on-black spotted tie hangs from his collar. Jet socks and shoes complete his attire.
Combat Abilities: Demonic herritage lends itself to a quick body and mind. Nak, however, found that magic was to be his style. Dark magics come quite naturally to him, though if that fails, a sudden stab through the heart with hardened claws finishes the job well enough, even if it does require a new set of gloves.
History: Even while a young boy, Nak strongly believed in the demon custom of gaining power and long life. In order to get a jump on things, he killed his older brother and ate his soul in his thirtieth year. Though Nak nearly doubled his strength, the fraticide led him to believe that cold murder was not the best method. So the study of magic filled his days and eventually led him to search for potent artifacts. In this effort he has worked diligently for his past four-hundred-so years. Using the objects to add to himself, then selling them to museums or collectors has gained him noticible prowress, wealth, and a bit of prestige among certian communities.
Trivia: At four-hundred ninety-three, Nak looks forward to celebrating his first semi-millennial soon.
Nak's collection and his willingness to sell to Being museums has put him into a fair-liked status amongst Beings.
While Nak only wears two studs in his left ear, he does have quite the jewelery hoard.
Nak views Beings as useful workers instead of food and thus has partnered with them in numerous ventures.
Looks good, Pagan. Approved. :)
Character Sheet's ready!
Name: Elizabeth Cassandra Imenwati-Jyraneth (also known as "Black Báthory")
Race: Succubus
Gender: Female
Species: Black-backed jackal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-backed_jackal)
Physical Description: Elizabeth is a fairly beautiful Succubus; as a black-backed jackal she has pointed, strong features, with erect, tapered ears and an elongated, rigid muzzle. Although she is of small stature (standing at 5'5"), Elizabeth always seems to carry her build in a dignified, commanding manner, each of her steps sinewy and strong, and her posture emphasizing this demonstrated strength. Her physique is mostly concealed by the layers of voluminous clothing she wears, but she appears to be fairly athletic and sinewy. Elizabeth is predominantly monochromatic in color scheme, with black sufficing as the major background to her fur color, and different shades of gray and white present in her abstract markings. Her hair is long, reaching her shoulder-blades, but is perfectly interchangeable in length thanks to her inherent metamorphosis; its color a pristine alabaster. At mid-length, her hair coalesces from white to black like a gradient pattern. Elizabeth's wings are leathery and tremendous in size, with clawed, hooked appendages at the top knobs of her wings. The inner membranes of her wings are gray, decorated with white markings. On the backs of her wings are large, ornate white eyes, reminiscent of the illusory tricks utilized by gypsy moths.
Most of Elizabeth's markings are hidden by her clothing, but the visible slivers are abstract in shape, such as the white spot resting over her right eye, underlined by a curling sweep of gray. Her muzzle, throat, and most of her chest are gray, while her bosom is white; not much of her other markings can be seen. Nestled at Elizabeth's collarbone, just over the periphery of alabaster, is her clan marking, an angular white shape. Elizabeth's eyes are sea green. While her clan has an affinity for monochromatic colors, Elizabeth primarily wears vibrant dresses and gowns, accessorized by blue, purple, gold, and lavender, and large amounts of lace and frills. She also likes to wear more vibrant colors, as well. She usually designs her own clothing, and enjoys creating impressively elaborate outfits.
Elizabeth wears a black and mostly inconspicuous bodysuit (see Combat Abilities for more information) underneath her clothing. She always wears a golden wedding ring engraved with an obsidian version of her clan marking.
Combat Abilities:
Strengths: Extensive and manipulative control over darkness, shadows, and almost any type of darkness-oriented source; general Succubus abilities; visibility in complete darkness; teleportation through darkness; can materialize an ornate suit of armor to cover her bodysuit out of pure darkness, then neutralize it so it cannot be manipulated by anyone else; a lesser degree of shadow-armor which hugs her body tightly and allows easier mobility, but does not protect her as extensively as the heavier armor; extensive physical combat.
Weaknesses: Extreme sensitivity and weakness against concentrated types of light; cannot manipulate shadows or use them when there is none in the area (due to light), thus decapitating the majority of her more versatile darkness-oriented abilities; lack of experience in other fields of elemental magic; slight haemophilia (explanation provided below); clings to traditions and is futilely stubborn in her beliefs
- Elizabeth's Haemophilia: Normally, haemophilia creates such severe bleeding that people who are injured by relatively cuts can die from blood loss if left untreated. Elizabeth is able to prevent this, but only through intense dependence on spells which assist her blood clotting and keep her from bleeding her life out on the ground every time someone stabs her.
The magical spells Elizabeth uses to help her blood clotting are largely improvisational, and just help her from bleeding too excessively when in battle. Anything stronger would require a lot more time and effort to completely encompass her internal system. However, if Elizabeth bleeds a bit too much or fights are too prolonged, they make Elizabeth feel dizzy and disoriented as the spells struggle to hold her bleeding in place. Even with this assistance, Elizabeth will require actual medical attention or healing magic to stop the bleeding altogether and help her recover eventually, since the spells do not heal – they are simply an adequate prevention, and deteriorate if Elizabeth relies on them too much in an extended period of time. This is why she makes most of her battles as quick as possible and always protects most of her body.
Elizabeth also has below-average endurance when unarmored, at least for a Cubi, and bleeds more than the average Cubi. She is also very sensitive to pain. Extremely large wounds might overwhelm the spells temporarily, and might require a more conscious effort on Elizabeth's part to keep herself from dying.
Weapon - Disaster: Disaster is a refined glaive, and the mother weapon of its namesake series. All of Elizabeth's children were bestowed with weapons bearing similar names and designs, all of which were crafted by Elizabeth's husband, an expert blacksmith specializing in magical weaponry. As the original weapon, Disaster is understandably extraordinary in its abilities, although the experience and strength of its wielder effectively utilizes Disaster's capabilities.
In appearance, Disaster is an elongated glaive, about six feet in length, with an eighteen-inch, ornately shaped blade. The entirety of the weapon is utterly black, as though the glaive itself was crafted out of darkness, although the blade is of a slightly more distinguishable shade of black. The black of the blade transitions to white near the tip, almost reminiscent of a gradient effect. Engraved underneath the blade is a pearlescent duplicate of Elizabeth's clan marking. Other than the unusually monochromatic color scheme, Disaster is decidedly plain.
Disaster is, in actuality, laced with magical energy attuned to Elizabeth's special signature. Hence, it is responsive to her magical commands, and can be manipulated slightly in appearance and cast spells with more efficiency than when Elizabeth is unarmed. Largely, Disaster specializes in dark-oriented magic, or the manipulation and creation of darkness and shadows. Its appearance can be altered slightly, such as being able to slither like a snake, returning to Elizabeth's hand through teleportation (this is limited by distance), liquefying and reconstructing itself, sprouting spikes and extra blades, or a variety of other improvisational techniques. Elizabeth can also increase and decrease Disaster's length, but she is apparently restricted to extending the weapon to eight feet. Sometimes, Elizabeth can use Disaster's metamorphosis in more immediate situations, such as elongating the blade to deal more damage, or softening or crystallizing the blade. Elizabeth's darkness-armor functions in a similar way.
Disaster is not indestructible, nor is it perfect. It can be shattered, and while Elizabeth can restore the shards to its previous state, it is a painstaking process, depending on how many shards remain. If there aren't any shards, Elizabeth cannot piece Disaster back together.
History: Elizabeth was born a Cubi and raised a Cubi among the fanatical and monstrously violent Jyraneth Clan (http://dmfa.wikia.com/wiki/Jyraneth_Clan). From a young age she expressed interest in becoming a warrior, but due to her haemophilia, this sort of path was highly discouraged, even with the protection and magical antidotes provided which kept her from living in complete fragility. For a while, Elizabeth maintained a simpler profession on the side by sketching elaborate designs for clothing, jewelry, and other fashion accessories, and creating them, until she pursued her training after she grew her head-wings.
Elizabeth was a Jyraneth Raider, a killer of heretics, of relative notoriety. Her nickname, Black Báthory, was given to her due to her uniquely monochromatic coloration and as a play on the similarity of her name to that of the infamous countess, Elizabeth Báthory. Another similarity which attached Elizabeth to the countess was how Elizabeth coated herself in blood during her battles.
Elizabeth ended up meeting a blacksmith, Salem, and they married. All in all, Elizabeth had seven children. Around the time her first son, Noah, was born, Elizabeth retired from the Jyraneth Raiders and became a fashion designer. For a good time, she lived peacefully, until one of the sacred traditions of her clan was violated, supposedly becoming the precursor of the apocalypse. Noah disappeared in the following events, and Elizabeth, fretful over her son's whereabouts, donned her armor again and left her remaining children, Jasmine, Sierra, Esmeralda, Katherine, and Lianna, in Salem's company while she formed a small search party of slaves and Jyraneth Raiders. Almost desperately, Elizabeth and her companions searched the fringe of the mountain range – some of the search party members decided to return home when they decided the search was fruitless, but Elizabeth was determined to find her son.
Eventually, when Elizabeth gave up and returned, she found the clan sanctuary, Harla'Keth, had been decimated, its defenses inexplicably penetrated. Her home was destroyed, burned to the ground. Most of those who had returned early from the search party were dead. There was no sign of Lianna or Katherine, and everyone else in her family was dead. Elizabeth learned that it was the work of the Kamei'Sin Clan, Jyraneth Clan's foremost enemy, but could find no other information. When she searched Harla'Keth, she found nothing but ruins and corpses, but saw no sign of Jyraneth, the clan leader and tri-wing.
Since then, Elizabeth has been a drifter, wandering aimlessly for the past four hundred years. She typically disguises herself as a Demon and lives as a fashion designer, but still hangs on to most of the Jyraneth traditions, even as the world rapidly changes around her. Watching Beings, who had been treated as inferior creatures and slaves in her clan, dominate most of the world, has inured her to most of her beliefs, but out of stubbornness and the desire to preserve the vestiges of her clan, Elizabeth maintains, although futilely, her traditions. She had at first held out hope for the possibility of her two daughters' survival, but saw no sign of them. It was as though they had disappeared off the face of the world, just like her clan. Elizabeth had no choice but to resign herself to the inevitable, and lived in solitude, refusing to remarry or to procreate again. She felt it would tarnish her dear husband and children's memory; almost as though she was trying to replace them.
For a while, she had lived insularly in a city, living off of the money she made as a fashion designer, until one day a peculiar letter arrived in the mail...
Trivia:
- In Jyraneth Clan, the family and clan name is always hyphenated to avoid confusion. The family name comes first, while the clan name is second.
- Elizabeth's nose wrinkles distastefully and she sneezes when she sees an appalling example of fashion.
- Elizabeth loves jewelry and precious gemstones – her favorite gemstone is the amethyst.
~Keaton the Black Jackal
And another character sheet...
--------------------
Name: Andrace Kithara
Age: 22
Race: Being
Species: Lion
Gender: Female
Physical description
Height: 6' 6"
Weight: 220lb.
Build: Tall and muscular.
Eyes: Dark golden-brown.
Hair: Fiery red.
Fur Coloration: Tawny buff all over, lighter on front, with tail tuft the same colour as her hair.
Distinguishing features: A tall and statuesque lioness, Andrace looks like she could juggle Dragons. Her features are more striking than attractive, her hair is loose, shoulder length and usually at least a little untidy. The rest of her fur is well groomed, though. Andrace's favourite adventuring outfit is a jerkin, shirt and trousers in black/red leather and silk. Depending on what she's wearing (none are visible in the above outfit), some scars can be seen; on her right thigh, stomach, left forearm and back. There's a small silver ring with dangling spikes in her right ear.
Biographical and general information
History: One look at Andrace will tell you what she is: an adventurer. Andrace comes from the Kithara, a moderately successful extended family of adventurers (i.e. still alive and in one piece... mostly... by the time they retire). Trained by her family since she was old enough to stalk a Pygmy Shrew, Andrace learned a variety of weapon styles and fighting techniques.
By the time she was a teenager, she was coming along on some of her family's more straightforward jobs, and proved herself an effective and (when the mood — i.e. teen angst and hormones — struck her) a downright scary fighter. In the four years since she started out on her own, she's done a little bit of most things: courier, guard, bandit suppression, anti-critter patrols, bounty hunting, etc.
Personality: Usually friendly and boisterous. Loud, even (especially after a drink or three). Not just the life and soul of the party, if she's really determined to have a good time she can be the regressed past lives and afterlife of the party as well. Occasionally feels the need to show off, usually when she's comfortable with family or friends. Can seem a bit flirty with friends, but isn't really serious about it. Most of the time. Can become quite ruthless if necessary: she's no dewy-eyed dreamer.
Abilities: An experienced fighter, Andrace is at least somewhat competent with most types of weapon. If it has sharp pointy bits, can shoot, be thrown or or used to hit things (and people), she can pick it up and immediately start beating on some thoroughly deserving monster or rogue Creature. With her favourite sword, though, she's highly skilled.
Andrace has a small amount of magical talent. This limits what she can do, but she's concentrated on learning a few useful spells, e.g. fire-lighting, magical light, and low-level healing. This last is not enough to heal injuries completely, but it can reduce bleeding, pain, and the chance of infection.
Weapons: Her favourite weapons are a large two-handed greatsword (a zweihänder) and, for longer ranges and those hard-to-shift critters, she also has a gun. Considering her size and strength, this almost counts as a small cannon. The ammo is expensive and hard to find, so Andrace only uses the gun very much as a last resort. Knives of various sizes are tucked away, often in the most surprising places, in her clothes. Some of them are shaped and balanced for throwing. Andrace doesn't wear armour, although her dense fur and usual leather jerkin do give some protection. She relies on agility and speed to avoid being injured, and stamina to keep going if she is. As a last resort, she'll use her claws and teeth to best effect.
Strengths: Strong. Stamina by the bucketload. Quick-thinking and confident when she has to come up with a plan in a hurry.
Weaknesses: Considering her height and muscles, Andrace is not most people's vision of "svelte and dainty". Her natural feline agility helps in small spaces, but she can get stuck if she's not careful. Sometimes jumps into things with great enthusiasm, but "makes it up as she goes along" to get out of them.
Trivia: Andrace needs to watch her diet, she's one of those people who can gain a pound or two just by looking at a sticky sweet dessert. She also needs to exercise regularly to keep those muscles.
In addition to the knives intended as weapons, Andrace has a range of useful tools tucked away in hidden pockets all over her clothes: lockpicks, wires, saws, tiny blades etc. There's a lot of them. Not (quite) enough to give her clothes extra armour protection, but they are noticeably heavier than they should be, even after you take all the knives out.
Apart from her never-quite-tidy hair, Andrace is a little vain about her appearance. She's picked up several scars in her years of adventuring, but she's had most of them completely healed, apart from a few suitable to wrap a good yarn around. (One or two are in places only very close friends get to see...)
Approved, Keats and Spots. :3
Still working on Karazkt, I'm rewriting the profile, am having a little trouble with comp use, and if I have one of these 'muse' doohickies everyone's talking about, then mine's gone on a vacation to Siberia :B

I don't know where you got that idea, sir. You may do as you like, however.
Well then maybe I will try this then, I'll dust off this old character... he's not one of my favorites, but he may be fun here.
Name: Kiet'Jaer TiPaollo
Race: incubus
Gender: Male
Species: Ring-tailed Cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring-tailed_Cat)
Physical Description: Kiet is ash gray of fur with white face markings, muzzle, chin and front side. His tail is striped black, as long as he is tall and very fluffy. He has sandy brown head hair and wings, both of which have black tips and edges. Kiet's eyes are a bright sea foam green color. He stands about 5ft 4in.
His hair is kept normally rather short and somewhat wild and spiky. It is immune to weather conditions and its "style" cannot be altered by comb, product or magic, nor does it seem to grow at all. Kiet's hair has a tendency to accentuate sharp emotional outbursts such as fear, surprise, anger and joy. Even after such displays, it returns to its normal wavy and spiky style.
Kiet'Jaer dresses for the occasion, but typically always with a flair for the arcane. He is fond of capes, suits and the attire of a battle mage. He tends to prefer dark blue as his color of choice; he is known to wear outfits in greens, purples, reds and blacks.
Kiet's wing tendrils have very draconic little heads
Combat Abilities: Strengths: Kiet is very highly skilled in the arcane arts. He is a trained battle mage from an order long since gone from the world. He can cast spells from all areas, but he typically concentrates on protection and damaging spells when fighting. Fireballs, Ice storms, lightning bolts, meteor storms, force missiles to Hell storm, phoenix rain and Blizzards; his spells range from personal to large area of effect.
Kiet is also well skilled in martial combat. He can wield most weapons with skill, but bladed weapons are his favorite and speciality. He does not typically wear much more then light armor in combat, but he is capable of doing so.
Weaknesses: Kiet'Jaer is particularly susceptible to chaos magic. His magics are mostly order based and are quickly unraveled by chaos magic. Too much chaos and he will lose the safe guards binding the soul of Paollo within him, allowing the ancient one to take over. Kiet will eventually regain control, but not after Paollo, who is little more than destructive rage at this point, ravages all before him.
Kiet is highly susceptible to soliloquy. He possesses the flaw of classic villains, the one of excessive wordiness and explanation. He also tends to chatter a lot in general. Crafty foes have learned to keep him talking or have found ways to get him to explain his crafty plans. Kiet is more than happy to oblige, giving the person ample time to escape or take action necessary to disrupting Kiet's plans.
Weapon: Tekka Blade - a magical sword created by a long dead race of Mythos. It appears as merely a sword hilt, a pommel and cross guard in its rest or off state. When the user concentrates, a shimmering blade will appear. The energy blade glimmers and glistens like gemstone, its color based on the emotions of the user. Blue for calm and peaceful users, red when filled with hate or anger, green when determined and aggressive, etc. It is a magical amplifier and a weapon capable of penetrating armor and cutting stone.
History: Kiet is the son of Illura Ariellana TiPaollo, Matron of Clan TiPaollo and Queen-Govenor of Xe'Pherion City, and grandson of Paollo himself. Kiet rarely speaks of his past, preferring to forget those distant times.
During the early formation of Xe'Pherion city, at the dawn of the Great Clan wars, Kiet died. He was slain by his own grandfather and Leader of his clan Paollo, who used his innocent soul as a conduit to absorb the entire clan's essences. In a lust for power, Paollo had slain all but his own daughter to gather enough power to ascend to tri-wing status. With this immense power, Paollo destroyed the armies which sieged Xe'Pherion. After defeating his foes, Paollo recanted what he had done in rage and desperation. His foolish reach for power had destroyed his entire clan and claimed his heir. In guilt, he "destroyed" himself releasing his massive store of power. Much of it flowed into Illura, others rekindled the lives of the slain clan, and the rest flowed into Kiet. The spirit of Paollo settled into Kiet to seal the wound in his soul that Paollo had rent in order to channel all the clan's souls and power. Kiet was revived. His mother used part of Paollo's power to tear the city from the surface of Furrae and place it aloft and bound herself to it. On this day, clan Paollo became TiPaollo.
Kiet attended the ancient Academy of Sorcery, a place for Creatures and extremely talented Beings to learn the ancient magical arts. The Academy was run by an Ancient Dragon called Hy'Rael. It trained some of the world's most renowned wizards, sorcerers and battle mages. Graduates of the Academy were highly placed among the kingdoms and empires of the time. From there, Kiet has served the Great Council as a mage officer and eventually General of the Creature Armies. This was during ancient times when the Council itself took an active role in the World's direction. He was named by the Council, "The Greatest War Sorcerer of The Age", for his achievements leading the Guard in battle during the last of the Great Wars.
Trivia:Kiet squeaks when he is especially happy or tickled.
Kiet loves any pastry which has banana in it, but something unfortunate always occurs when he eats them.
TiPaollo means "house of" Paollo, as the founder is no longer living
TiPaollo is the only known clan to have absorbed many lesser clans without founders and established lines of peerage and fealty among them.
Kiet is actually 75% ringtail and 25% fox
Kiet's favorite tea is Shiny Tea.
Edit: added url link in species area.
Hey, Azlan. I remember that character of yours!
It's good to see him again. :3 Elizabeth will be happy to see a fellow Cubi.
~Keaton the Black Jackal
SAIA has hit one of the vacation points of the year, as it is a year round type institution. His tenure is such that he isn't required to teach during any of the three week inter-sessions... which is good, because I was getting tired of his "three week intercourse" joke.
It certainly will be good for him to interact with another Cubi.
Looks good, E and Az. Approved.
Hah! Finally got it done. Rewrote the profile from the Honor Circle to here, timming off alot of the excess details, but most of the stuff is the same (with a few minor tweaks). So far, I've only been using Karazkt in non-canonical RPs anyway, so I can change him all I want cuz he's not in the same continuity :D Probably the biggest change is that I'm completely dropping Karazkt's dual-natue Engineer and scout/explorer thing, cuz that doesn't make sense. Original profile (with justifications and explanations for various things) is here (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,3642.msg163345.html#msg163345).
Name: Karazkt, aka EG-41-25
Nicknames: Bugger, Ant-boy, Gearbug, "I'm not your Queen, dammit!"
Race: Insectis
Gender: Male
Species: Engineer
Physical Description: Well, he's an Insectis, with a dull brown coloration. His form is very spindly, somewhat short (about five foot), and has an undersized stinger. Wears no clothing, but has a bandolier with all kinds of metalworking tools, as well as a pair of special opaque black goggles.
Combat Abilities: Karazkt isn't meant for fighting, but should such a situation arise, he doesn't fight directly. Rather, he uses a 20-foot tall deep-core heavy digging mech, the model of which he designed mostly himself.
-Digger mech: This is Karazkt's only real weapon, a massive, ultra-heavy-duty, steampowered clockwork digging, mining, and drilling mech. It normally serves as his vehicle and transportation, and he doesn't like to get out of it unless it's necessary. The mech is thickly armored with a special Insectis metal that his extremely resilient, tough, and usually nigh-impenetrable, colored orange-brown. The mech has short, stocky legs, a large slightly barrel-shaped torso, and disproportionately large arms. The arms contain all the tool components of the mech, like grinding saws, drills, scoops, clamp-claws, etc., and all can be folded back and swapped out with one another. The cockpit is a sunken bowl in the top of the torso, and on the control panels are many, many levers, valve wheels, and pressure gauges. The cockpit has metal dome-bubble cover that can slide over the cockpit. It has no viewports or windows, but is forged in a special way to allow limited infravision (explained below) through. The torso of the mech houses the boiler, engine, and some of the mechanisms that dive the mech. The boiler itself is powered by a permanent fire enchantment, but Karazkt can feed more fire magic from his antennae to two intake ports to 'overclock' the mech, giving it a quick boost. The mech also has specially enchanted pathways and focusing crystals, which means that Karazkt can cast magic into the intake ports as well, and the mech amplifies and redirects it, giving Karazkt's magic a boost.
-Insectis Senses: Karazkt's antennae, like all Insectis, are extremely sensitive multi-purpose primary sensory organs. The have a sort of 'sonar' ability through solid matter (generally underground rock) that lets him 'hear', 'see', and 'feel' everything around him. They are used exclusively for normal sound and scent, and they even have limited taste. As for his eyes, in addition to seeing normal light, he (and many other underground beasties) also have infrared thermal receptors in his eyes, effectively allowing him to see heat. However, he can never see both at the same time, and switching between the two can sometimes be problematic. In fact, the goggles he usually wears are specially made (actually standard-issue in his home hive, due to all the fires and furnaces) to block all normal light, but allow infrared to penetrate, similar to the dome on his mech, except these don't dull images like the mech does.
-Strengths: Karazkt and his mech both are unbelievably tough and resilient, able to withstand the worst the underground has to offer. His chitinous 'skin' is able to endure harsh conditions and is resistant to penetration or cutting, but can be crushed or magically damaged. The mech is tough and thick enough to shrug off nearly any physical attack, no matter how powerful, resistant to most direct damaging magic, and don't even get started on trying to use fire or heat against it, no matter the source (exception being the race that built the mech in the first place). The mech has enormous strength, as it's supposed to get through solid bedrock, and this can be increased further if Karazkt overclocks it. Throw in the tools actually used to dig and tunnel, and even Karazkt's ability to use powerful earth and fire magic through the mech, and you have a sheer engine of near-unstoppable destruction.
-Weaknesses: The mech is very large, and very, very heavy, with incredible inertia, meaning that the mech has very poor agility (though it can be somewhat fast when needed). This can be easily used against it by a small, fast, or agile opponent. While able to withstand high temperatures, it is, in fact, quite vulnerable to low temperatures. Heat, and therefore working energy, is sapped away from the engine, and if icing sets in, the mech will seize up. While Karazkt could conjure more fire and heat magic, he wouldn't be able to hold it for long. Karazkt himself would also become sluggish and weak. While Karazkt can overclock the mech, he only does it sparingly. Too much can damage the engine.
History: Karazkt, know by the designation EG-41-25, was born to the Engineer caste in the Insectis hive-city Zizidronacht, the Hive of Steam and Clocks. It is named so because the Queen of this hive-city is one with a mind of progress, thus she pushed her hive to develop steam-powered clockwork technology. This also led rise to an entirely new breed of Insectis, the Engineers. Karazkt is one of the most brilliant members, having personally designed a good number of Zizidronacht's machines.
Personality: Karazkt, in comparison to surface world standards, is as odd as they come. Of course, this is due to him being born in a race with radically different social and cultural norms. Like all 'lower' Insectis (non-Queens and some others), he is very mindful of his position and will serve his Queen (or any Queen higher) with unwavering loyalty and zeal, as well as hive hierarchy. He also performs mostly all his actions with a single-minded goal-driven will. He is actually very dependant on the hierarchy, and if deprived of it (like going to the surface), he would have great difficulty getting by day-to-day and dealing with unexpected events without orders. This leaves him with the distinctive and incredibly odd habit of finding the most regal-looking female he sees, and adopting her as his Queen (while still remaining loyal and performing any duties or assignments set to him by his original Queen). He would serve his surrogate Queen in the same ways he would his real one, and with the same extreme zealousness. While important in his own culture, it might not work out so well for someone from the surface...
Approved, Tech.
RP starts soon. Working on the intro post now.
Then I suppose I'm just in time then!
Name: Jeremiah Ac'Gregor
Race: Being
Gender: Male
Species: (if applicable) poisonous tree frog
Physical Description: A build more scrawny than wirey, shaggy brown hair, blotchy black and orange skin pattern with green eyes. Tends to slouch, more than a little jumpy, and has an overall animated personality.
Combat Abilities: In and of himself? Next to nil. Some minor skills with spells relating to illusions or hypnosis, and a knife that he's used maybe twice in his life in an offensive manner. When his curse kicks in, however, he can also age things with a touch, manipulate kinetic force, steal thoughts from someone's head (although he doesn't learn them himself) or command his very surroundings. Fortunately, when these abilities kick in his IQ is knocked down to approximately that of a turnip and aren't under his full control, so he isn't exactly looking to use his curse on purpose either.
History: Once upon a time, Jeremiah was a high school art teacher in a fairly nondescript multiethnic city. Unfortunately, multiethnic meant that when a student goes crazy it may be one of the ones with horns and big teeth. When the matter was done with and the bodies carried away they found Jeremiah unconscious in his classroom, the student (having been VERY surprised when her curse went awry and broke her arms) not too far away.
The curse, inexpertly cast, was meant to destroy and isolate the teacher, time robbing him of everything as he lost control over his life and went mad. Instead it created six personalities that quickly staked out portions of the poor man's skull and began fighting for control, furthering their own goals via the hapless frog and use of the magic that the curse siphoned from Jeremiah to keep itself going. These personalities were In, Nex, Plic, Cab, Bal, and Lunacy; In destroys, Nex isolates, Plic steals, Cab commands, Bal rots, and Lunacy warps. These six have been driving Jeremiah insane, both literally and figuratively, causing him to go a bit eccentric apart from the whole "people in his head talking to him" thing. He keeps going as best he can, if only on the basis that fate hates a moving target.
One of these eccentricies he's picked up would be the habit of wandering away from his home for months at a time. His most recent wandering brought him to Damaske castle, with no funds with which to get home or even to get lunch. Desperate to get home some point and, preferably, not starve, he found work at the castle helping in catering for some upcoming event. After all his recent troubles, something comparatively low-key is looking like a nice change...
Trivia: Jeremiah's good at coming off as funny and charming, with only a few of those little eccentricies showing up on occasion. Recently he's taken to minimizing those occasions using a mild narcotic made from a breed of semisentient mythos (or at least that's what he assumes; after all, anyone who spent their life savings on lotto tickets couldn't have been all that intelligent) that seems to quiet the voices for the most part. He's more than somewhat prejudiced against creatures, but is fine with individuals when he gets to know them.
Just to clarify here, Boog... by "steal thoughts from someone's head (although he doesn't learn them himself)" - does that mean that someone so affected no longer thinks that thought? Or just that someone else manages to listen in?
As in, is the process a read, or a write?
More of an erase, really. The effected no longer thinks it. It usually targets surface memories as they're being accessed, although it can also go for other things than thoughts in a non-combat situation; Plic can only steal things without physical substance such as memories from your head, words from a book, impact from a speech, etc.
QuoteRecently he's taken to minimizing those occasions using a mild narcotic made from a breed of semisentient mythos
Dried frog pills, Boogey? :3
Approved.
On a less happy note, all my RP'ing is going to be on haitus for a week or so, due to circumstances I can't really control. I'm going to do my best to keep this downtime to a minimum - again, however, this isn't something I can prevent.
On the upside, I get to think of new horrible things to do to you all, so take heart! >:3
Anyone else notice how the guys outnumber gals about two-to-one?
Interesting dance partners, gotta say.
Your first post should be the receipt of your invitation, along with your arrival at Damaske station, by whatever means that would take.
Hope it ain't too late, but I've been SO tempted for a while to put up a profile for my favorite secondary character. And well, since I couldn't write anything else for the moment, I thought, why the hell not. x3
Name : Rynkura Msh'taan
Race : Angel
Gender : Female
Species : White tiger
Physical Description : Rynkura is over 800 years old, but looks more like she's in her early 40's. She also looks considerably strong, physically, taking on a somewhat stocky appearance for a female. Her fur is a brilliant pearlescent white with bold, black stripes. She's tall, a little over 6' with a headstrong and commanding demeanor to her. Her hair is long and brilliantly white, tied into a braid that runs down the entire length of her back. Her eyes are a deep emerald green, and she usually wears a robe with blue and white designs similar to the Mayans, the back of it trailing behind her and the front ending just below her knees. She wears sleeves on her upper arms that aren't attached to the robe, with a clearly enchanted gem embedded in each, and there is a ring on the wedded finger of her left hand. The combination of braid, blue and white colors, and bare feet are all characterizations of her founded branch of Healers. She always carries a long wooden staff that has a soft blue glow, characterized by light magic enchantment with an orb on the top clutched in wooden talons. As an Angel, she has wings, but would rather keep them hidden unless absolutely necessary. When they are shown, they are large with white feathers and stripes just as bold as those on her body. Traveling, she carries a short sword on her back.
Combat Abilities : Despite her affiliation with the discipline of healing, Rynkura has also trained most of her life to be a master swordswoman and knows how to use just about any kind of blade very well with quick reflexes. She is also naturally inclined to the use of light magic, mostly channeling it towards healing and defense, although she has an arsenal of attacks that work against dark and shadow-elemental magic and can be considered holy-based as well. Along with several light tricks, she also knows a few elemental things from channeling lightning to plenty of earth-based restraining and offensive attacks. She is old and thus quite powerful, focused, and disciplined, possessing the natural ability of heightened senses like smell and hearing. One would find it quite hard to sneak up on her. If needed, she has the ability to fly using her wings and a combination of magic.
As for weaknesses, although Rynkura is strong, her offensive and defensive arsenal is almost entirely magic-based, and can be avoided by those who take preventive measures. It is because of this that she has taken up the alternate skill of swordplay and similar fighting techniques with her staff. She is fairly quick, but not blazingly fast, and so sometimes a quick thinker and mover could catch her off-guard. Too many very powerful offensive spells in one long setting also tends to tire her out, so she has to think carefully about her pattern of attack. In the air, she is swift, but not too maneuverable. She has no practice in unarmed physical combat.
History : Not much is known about Rynkura's long life, but as much as she would tell you, she was raised in nobility and taught magic at an early age. She never wanted to stay for too long with her family and left for a life of adventuring when she was in her mid-20's, taking various jobs and learning many skills, mostly excelling in the art of swordsmanship. She had a long career as a paladin and became well-known in many areas for her deeds. After a hundred or so years, she became something of a hermit and spent time away from society to develop her magic, becoming self-taught in item enchantment. Often if an adventurer held something of light magic, chances were it came from Rynkura, sold through other sources, and over time her name was slowly forgotten. Unlike the angels that she was raised with, she didn't wish for power through manipulation of others. To further keep away from persecution of Beings, she started wearing charms to hide her wings and has done so ever since.
During an excursion in which she was called to help dispel a powerful demonic force (though it was unsure whether they were demons or mythos of a similar nature), the demons were conquered and their souls sealed in a blade which lay embedded in the soil of the land for a long time. The energies emanating from it were so strong that nearby villages experienced horrible plague-like effects, also rendering the soil unable to grow anything. With the help of the group of paladins she was with, she helped in containing the blade in a powerful sheath with properties that could reverse its dark energies into an unending source of light magic. The effort was costly however, as all but one of the paladins fell victim to the demonic sword's influence, for it had the ability to effectively steal life force and even control those who try to hold it. This event became one of the most horrid memories of her life, and yet she proudly keeps the sword safe as she was entrusted with it. She married the surviving paladin, and though she never revealed what became of him, still wears her old wedding ring.
In her travels, she had decided finally to use her powers to further the business of healing, and made a working monastery out of the ruins of an old castle and standing cathedral in the Shadowed Depths. For about 300 years she was also a trusted ally of a clan of adventurers whom she became very familiar with through their generations. However that too would come to pass, as a demon clan whose name she always found as part of trouble in her years eventually picked off the entire line, bar for one family. It was she who directed them to the village of Soldeluna for promise of isolation and safety.
Then came the catastrophe that would have ended the line of Cabre, if it were not for the fact that one child survived. She raised the girl as a student and a sort of daughter--as she had never had children of her own--also seeing it as a duty to the line that she swore to protect. To this day she keeps in contact with the surviving adventurer's child as help in her mission of vengeance while keeping things running at her monastery as it becomes better-known.
Trivia : Rynkura's favorite pastimes are reading and enchanting. She claims to have come up with a way to enchant a weapon and never have it need recharging.
Ryn, although a devout follower of the code of Healers, isn't all peace and love. She knows when to be kind and when to be cruel, whenever the need calls for it and when it would be better for everyone. Very seldom has a decision ever been hard for her.
Approved, Aish. :3
Name: Elyse Amanda a'Dionysia Donovan
Race: Succubus
Gender: Female
Species: White-winged vampire bat
Physical Description: Tall, regal, long-limbed and athletic, Elyse has a smooth gracefulness and strength to her that is hard to miss. Wiry-strong, she is more muscular than her lithe and shapely figure hints at without examination. Her eyes are deep in her heart-shaped face, and oddly colored black with gold irises. Usually, she also wears a golden ring in each point-tipped ear, sometimes connected on the via a little golden chain to a ring in her nose on the left side, and keeps her equally golden hair, which is still darker than most of her fur, short in length. Though, of course, being a Succubus and thus a shapeshifter, this often changes. It is known that she has a few black, tribal-style markings on her body, though whether these are actual markings or tattoos is questionable. She tends to favor the colors white, black and gold in her choice of dress and accessory, often with religious motifs or icons. Her tentacle-wing heads have a somewhat canine appearance, with long snouts, but seem to borrow both from dragons and bats in appearance too, oddly. Her clan marking is an angular, white slash that nearly blends into her fur, right below her left breast.
Combat Abilities: Apart from being a Cubi, with all that entails in terms of abilities, Elyse appears to have a natural athleticism, stamina and strength that exceeds that of other Cubi of her (still relatively young) age. Her shapeshifting abilities are rather good, her mastery of humanoid and animal forms well-developed and her talent for mimicking personalities especially good, but she still has leagues to go when it comes to freely shaping her wing-tentacles for purposes of devastation, or taking on the shape of inanimate objects for longer times.
Elyse's talent however, does not lie within her Cubi abilities. Nor within general magic, in which she is technically well-versed but certainly not strong, and where many creatures have an advantage over Cubi already. Instead, she has chosen to focus especially on her psychic abilities and related magic, having discovered a talent for thought- and mind-reading, and applied psionics already from a young age. Advancing from telepathy, dream-walking and hypnosis, she has begun taking great strides into telekinesis and more direct manipulation, and appears to possess quite some strength within these fields, strength which is growing.
History: Abandoned as an orphan, presumably because of her mother's inability to care for her, as a youth Elyse was left at and taken in by a convent belonging to the Church of The Martyr's Blood and raised under the tutelage and care of the clergy. Living under the restraint of Church formality and morality, and the distance from general populace, she was a reclusive youth even up until her early adulthood, having only books and repressed initiates for company. Initially taken for a Demon, and therefore at first accepted only out of duty and principle, her caretakers greatly emphasized piety and gentleness in her upbringing, attempting to suppress any possible violent Demonic character in her until able to send her off. As a result, both of this and of a certain cynicism and distance developed on her part as a natural ward to indoctrination, she grew up to become a largely chilly and highly analytical woman.
When the priests and priestesses learned that their long-time protegé was in fact not a Demon, but a Succubus, their response was mixed. Overall though, it was seen as something of an improvement, although after she was allowed a position within the Church that had previously been unattainable to her, her training and tutelage immediately shifted in emphasis from philosophy, science and ethics, to harnessing and restraining her abilities. As a Cubi, she was valuable to the Church, which had long since created public relations and aid agreements with many cities and sovereignities, and a standing force of paladins and inquisitors to serve when called upon. But only so long as her abilities were kept in check. Dutifully acceding to the Church's request, she was placed in training under close supervision, and later transferred to serve in Corinth, a large western trade city.
It was under the service of Deacon Laertes Melanthious, later Inquisitor Laertes Melanthious, that Elyse got her first real taste of civilization. Her talent for mind-reading and dissembling was picked up on early, and greatly used. And with her abilities, mostly restrained yet honed by her training, it was impossible for her not to get drunk upon the vitality of the city, and its people. While initially her moral shield held fast, she slowly lost herself in the scheming, the intrigue and everyday intricacies of relations there. A more emotional urge growing on her, she began using her abilities to a greater extent than she perhaps should have, searching out secrets and developing a strange fondness for the corruption that she could now invariably see everywhere, even within the Church itself. She faced penalties for abuse of her powers twice, and following restrictions, but these only made her crave the intrigue back until she was completely set free once more. And yet she still adhered to her old faith. Her position of power, the camaraderie and her innate need for some sort of spiritual foundation to cling to were more than enough reasons.
Elyse learned of the lies that she served and had built her life upon when Inquisitor Melanthious later killed Giles Monterrey, a former Paladin of the Church, after following a trail of clues and inquisitorial orders. Hearing in detail the thoughts involved in that conflict, she managed to evade Laertes' attention, and escaped less than a week later, staging her own death. Since, she has periodically taken up small-time criminal activities, such as smuggling and espionage for pay, in between running and hiding, often using her shapeshifting and considerable skills to assume the identities and lives of surprisingly modest people. Her only traceable contacts are in the Mercenaries' Guild, where she is developing a slight reputation, both for good and ill. Yet, she is still running, having become skilled enough to see that there is still someone searching for her, and possibly monitoring her movements...
Trivia:
- Elyse is allergic to crustaceans.
- Sensitive both to high-pitched sounds and certain irritating modes of thought, Elyse can be prone to headaches, unless she has something to take her mind off them. She sometimes takes medication for this, but mostly blocks out thoughts and meditates to calm herself. Knowing full well her Cubi regenerative abilities, and seeming to have a disposition for it, she smokes and drinks too, when she finds it suitable.
- Elyse has a lovely singing voice, and what appears to be natural musical talent.
- The third of her names, a'Dionysia, is a clear reference to Elyse's mother's maiden name, the only real knowledge she has of her. She very, very rarely mentions this though.
Yes, I know. Shameless usage. I really hope you like the plot ties though. >:3
Approved, Styg. Very interesting indeed.
Just random info, but I actually had a longer intro post than what I've got up now. The problem is, it was FREAKING UNGODLY LONG :< and probably superfluous and unnecessary. What I've got up now? Basically a rewritten version of the last section of the original post I had. Which is why I didn't put it up, either way, the end result is the same, except one of them is brief and concise, and the other involves a lot of pointless storytelling, self-exposition, and (essentially) NPC dialogue. I was going to put it up after working on it for more than a day, and I nixed the whole thing because it seemed unpostable to me.
If anyone does want to see it, I can throw it up right here (since I've still got it saved on my comp), and if anyone wants me to actually put it back in IC...I guess I could do that. Like I said above, the end result of the post is the same either way.
Tech, has being really wordy stopped ANY of us from posting as we so pleased as of yet? Go nuts. It's not like we're going to run out of space.
Ugh. Fine.
...It has been done.
Is this still open if I can get a profile written by tomorrow?
The Azlan is having internet problems. I am down to my laptop and I am not fond of the bugger, so my responses will be delayed a bit.
i am having care trouble so i'm not making it home every night. also i hope that my post is acceptable and does not step on any toe. ( will edit if it does)
You're not stepping on my toes, E, but you've jumped the gun a little bit. The ball hasn't started for any else yet, so, you might be waiting awhile for the rest of us to 'catch up', as it were.
ah i musty has described it wrong as i meant to give the impression i was in the train station watching the new arrives looking for some clue as too who was giving them ball and following them to find out more. but that the dragons were well they caught my attention as it were. i'm guessing my comment about formal attire is were i went wrong.?
No, but, you did say that it was February second in your post. Everyone else is a day behind you, there.
ah i see. i'll fix that now before i head off to work. i missed one bus i won't miss the other
Probably that, or the Feb 2nd - everyone else is still on February 1.
After all, fashionably late is one thing, but one must be ready on time, for social occasions... ;-]
"Tiger in a bad dress", huh? :rolleyes
The correct response is 'It's a robe!' :P (unless I misread something, but I assumed she wasn't in her ballroom gown yet. Not good for walking on snows and such.)
Although if I remember right, doesn't Rover respond to being spelled automatically? >:3
Heh, yes, it's a robe. As I said on MSN, Ryn has her dress with her in her pack. She'd be wiser than that. x3
And she's just making the spell out of caution. Should Rover pounce... :3
... he'll get a singed tongue?
Shadrok? I'm sorry, I probably didn't make this all too clear in my other posts, but, how do you know Ryn's an angel when she's hiding her wings?
Mmm. I presumed she was hiding her wings, because she usually does; that's a bit meta, though, and I probably shouldn't have.
I must admit I didn't give it a seconds thought, and simply referred to her as a white tigress because the species is more important to me than the race - saying "Creature" or "Angel" limits you to two options, whereas the other way, you can use lady, female, tigress, white tigress, white lady, her, she, etc.
Of course, the more options the better; it's always nice to use some variation in writing. ;-]
The other reason for referring to her that way is that Cog and Aisha themselves did; I was just following the trend ;-]
I'll try to keep track of who's wearing what guise at what time, though. :-/
It's all quite alright, Llearch, the post was fine. But yeah, it is good to keep track of what people are doing. I also try to make things clear in my posts, but I certainly can't stop people from skim-reading and making mistakes anyway.
Besides, her profile says that she always hides her wings, too.

Opps. I must have missed the hiding her wings part. I'll change it from angel to white tigress.

I try to read the other posts but for some reason yesterday I just had problems understanding what I was reading.
Could have just been due to that day being hectic for me.
bill is fashionably late with a profile itt
Name (w/ title): Nathan Owen Goss, Senior Marshal of the Army of Trent
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Phys:
Six-foot-six, large build, Caucasian, age 39. Like all military servicemen, very short hair trim.
Occupation/History/Personality/etc
Senior Marshal of the Army of Trent, the armed forces of the Republic of Trent, the largest organized nation of humans in the world, at about thirty-two million strong. As Senior Marshal, Goss represents the troops of the Ninth Infantry Division of Trent, less formally known as the Lowlanders. The Ninth Infrantry is one of thirteen individual divisions, each of which is represented by their own Senior Marshal in the Marshaling Congress, as it is known. As a whole, the Congress represents the interests and needs of the troops of the Army, as opposed to the Administrative Congress, which represents the official, financial, and administrative sections of the army. To oversimplify things, the Administrative Congress (via the government of Trent) tells the Army where to fight, and the Marshaling Congress controls the actual fighting. During a peacetime (such as the present), however, the Marshals are locked in a near-traditional struggle with the administration, regarding issues that can range from large-scale, such as headcount and pay, to issues as petty as perceived slights by the administration against Congress members in the press.
As can be expected, an average trooper respects the rule of the M.C. much more than the more bureaucratic A.C., especially since Senior Marshals travel with their armies to war, and generally have been soldiers with war experience, as opposed to the army administration, viewed as mere office workers and paper-pushers.
Goss is the most hawkish of the Marshals, going for brute-force strategies that lead to higher-than-average losses in his troops which gives him a mixture of respect and criticism from his them. His aggressive plans generally put the troops of the Lowlanders in more danger than they view necessary, but at the same time, give him the impression of being a strong, stubborn wartime leader, and probably one of the most effective, if not the most inventive, leaders of the Congress.
Goss has a blunt personality common to the armed forces. As military duties preclude most long-term personal relationships, Goss is very hard to speak to on a personal level. He speaks tersely, and rarely when not required. Years fighting with militray bureaucrats have given him an intense distrust of authority, especially those in governments.
Combat, weaknesses, strengths
Though Goss frequently works in warzones, his position in the Army prevents him from doing any actual fighting; Goss has not fought in anger for nearly a decade, and his skills have atrophied somewhat as a result. Like the vast majority of humans, Goss has no magical abilities. Goss' experience as a soldier mainly took place with the Ninth Infantry in a jungle campaign, nearly two decades ago. As necessitated by jungle combat, Goss is trained with a machete, and still prefers it for close-quarters combat. Like most troopers, Goss is trained with small-arms.
Approved. Also, the OOC is now closed, because I have enough players now, I think. :B

The ringtailed fox might have wanted to begin a brisk trot to claim some form of transportation, when he noticed another well-dressed gentlemen approaching him.
Kiet has the appearance of a Ring-tailed Cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring-tailed_Cat), not unlike that of the infamous Chester Magreer. Illura appears as a vixen as she is half fox and the genes appear stronger. Kiet is only one-quarter fox. My mistake for not describing him in my IC entry post and only in the OOC character post.
Ah! My apologies, sir. I shall endeavour to keep things straighter in my head. :3
It's cool, I like foxes a little :B and have played a fox or two... so I kind of have a minor history with the animal, nothing special mind you... :3
Tech - was rereading through the posts, and I realized I must have missed the portion of yours where you said you surfaced.
Don't mean to take liberties with the character, I can edit if it's a problem.

Actually,
I edited
my post slightly to fit. I figured, "He's having me surface now? Sure, why not. A little char interaction would be good." I was going to completely edit the last part to make it so he wasn't yet to the surface at all, but instead I just hacked off the last sentance which stated he was making his mech move towards the castle, because there wasn't much continuity confliction otherwise; both your post and mine specified that Karazkt is looking around from his cockpit.
While I imagined he actually surfaced in fields behind the castle, I could do a little further editing to change it to that Karazkt did also feel the town as well, and just came up through it; because he's so used to how Insectis work, he would automatically assume that this surfacer "hive" knows he is coming (via the 'tremorsense' thing that all Insectis have, in my imagining), and therefore, he would think his entrance is already cleared. He wouldn't bother to interact with any 'workers', unless one of them (Goss) said something, which Karazkt won't expect, opening up some interesting first contact interaction.
The only little discrepancy, really, is that the boiler is
not external (for obvious reasons). Therefore, Goss would only see the orange-brown armor metal covering the mech.

Hang in there buddy ;)
maybe but i doubt it. anyway i'm having a little difficulty figuring where i fit it. i feel like a shadow on the wall and while in most cases that's fine right now i want more to interact more directly. any suggestions?
Shoot. Sorry E - I need to put a cheat sheet on my forehead, I think, or something... :<
no worried i'm just looking for a way to take a bigger part in the goings one of the place. i can follow the dragons. but well i don't know what to do.
edit. as i've stated i've followed the dragons and am now approaching Mel and Cogi in hopes of over hearing what they are talking about. i'm nether bold nor timid in this approach but my next move is still depended on how you two react
If bill reads this, I'm still waiting on Goss to say something about the mech in front of him that will make Karazkt notice...otherwise, I'll just have him head off to the castle.

The thing is, Karazkt is assuming most everyone around is in the 'worker' caste,
Goss included (he thinks surface society works like his own, as he's never been up here before). In Insectis society, one does not even take notice of a lower caste unless you specifically have business (meaning orders or commands, usually) with them. Gods forbid if you try to engage in casual conversation with one of a
higher caste than yourself. Depending on what Goss says, Karazkt might have several different reactions.
And that's why Karazkt can't (won't) initiate anything with Goss himself.EDIT: Ahhh, stupid stupid STUPID. I can't believe I didn't think of this. Karazkt still would think surface society works like his, but of
course he should know better than to rely completely on looks to determine someone else's caste. So he might not assume Goss is a worker right away. In fact, I just thought of something he could percieve and say that would definately open up some interesting dialogue.
actually Mel i was mealy asking permission to sit as it would be rude to slip into a booth with unknown acquainted with out permission. but i thank you for the permission and the seat. now if only i could think up a proper response.
I've made an edit so Aten doesn't look rude.

It has a very similar kimber, yes... but I found a much better fiddled song in one done by Alexander Adams... formerly known as Heather Alexander... I just wish I could remember the title...
Just so everyone is aware: http://llearch.net/misc/rp/MGM/ is up.
I'll try to get it updated at some point in the not too distant future.
I give much props to you, Boogeyman. Jeremiah's reaction to Karazkt made my day today :3
And btw llearch, in the quick description of Karazkt in the RP index, you have him described as a worker. That's supposed to be engineer, I think :B
Whoops. Fixed. Sorry about that.
Out of curiosity, what's "Seporations", Boog? I can't seem to find it in a dictionary...or do you mean "separations"?
On another note, further high-fives to you. The reactions you have for Jeremiah are putting many smiles on my face :)
EDIT: BTW, Cog, could you put a link to llearch's char index in the first OOC post? :3

...know that the hotel had a security force capable of handling anything up to and including fae.
Bwaahhahaha, that's a good one. I haven't met anything like that yet, unless the hotel employs Wildy.
Seriously though, before another person buries me for Kiet's eccentricities... Anyone
actually professional and experienced in fighting, specifically creature combat techniques would be able to tell that Kiet's signals were all wrong, no power increase, his actions were readable and his tail was all fluffy and poofy. If the security is really
that good, they should be shaking their heads and laughing at the clownish tomfoolery. They would definitely keep an eye on him, after all I could be baiting them into thinking he's just a clown.
In my ideal world, if they knew who he was, they'd fear any action like that he took and they'd send a "name level" guy to do that whole macho think to make sure we're all cool together... as no one wants to face the other. I know that's not going to happen... that would be so cliche :P
If I had been Ink playing Dr. Ink, it would have been a good laugh and the replies would have gone down differently. ;)
Be that as it may, as a more OOC comment, and as I can only reply to what your post states - I can only point out that your own post said:

I read 'maneuvers that would scream aggressive deadly action', and assumed that this was truly the case.
Even done in jest, the security is black-suited and very humorless. If it had been Ink playing Dr. Ink, I imagine that the reaction would have been much the same - threatening action is in every case threatening action.
I wouldn't say people are coming down on your for his eccentricities so far. I like Kiet. I think he's going to be a lot of fun. >:3 - but I did wish to point out that, in this crowd of nobles, Kings, and dignitaries, even acting like you're going to kill someone is something that would be taken seriously.
One might consider the reaction one would get from reaching into your jacket violently in front of the President of the United States. The Secret Service would not be amused.

Well, I did that slightly on purpose to see what reactions I would get. But truly I wrote that to an untrained audience specifically the poor fellow in front, I just entirely forgot to follow up with anyone with my bit about it being obvious to the trained. A whim and 4x the usual pay scale would be a good enough reason for me, but I realise I have a (pathologically) thin grasp on how nice people are, and how little they'd like to be killed, and am therefore slightly suspect when this sort of thing comes up.
As far as I am concerned, I'd be happy to kill anyone who I didn't have a good reason not to. I'm sufficiently bright to realise that spending more than, oh, about 20 minutes in jail is far too high a cost to pay for cleansing the gene pool... Hence I leave most people alone.
There are times, though... ;-]
Yes, but they have honor, llearch. They like having reasons to kill people. :B
This is the impression I have gotten, anyhow.
"I don't like your haircut" is a reason. Same goes for "You're stupid, and your mother dresses you funny."
Admittedly, not very good ones, but they're still reasons...

Or, again, such is my impression.
Oh, well. In that case. ;-]

Ah, but they never kill lightly, Andrace also said. I took this to mean that a whim would not normally be a good enough reason. :3
True, it has been known for a Kithara adventurer to refuse a commission because of that. Doesn't happen often, but at the prices they demand, not many people would risk losing their deposit by getting the Kithara PO'd.

i'm not sure if Mel has left yet or not and i've been waiting to see but i guess Atem will eat his meal and bid her until the marrow if she's still there when i return form work tomorrow morning.
Just a notice to all RPs I'm in, I will be absent from Monday to Thursday on a camping trip in Yosemite. My character will be quiet for that time.
i'm simply going to have aten eat and be on his way. he'd be in the library the morning after the meet with cogi and mel. this can be implied and need not be written in the rp right?

Name: Esme Broussard
Race: Angel
Gender: Female
Species: Lynx
Physical Description: Short and lithe, Esme is a tired-looking woman who appears to be in her early twenties, dressed in a long black double-breasted frock coat drawn tight by polished brass buttons, with a white armband marked with a red cross declaring her status as medical staff on her left arm. Her fur is a salt-and-pepper color, short but thick, with her thin black hair cut short and out of the way. Thick general-issue boots protect her feet and ankles from the snow, tied firmly over a pair of functional black dress pants. Thin square glasses hang low on her nose, magnifying her slitted hazel eyes. Black feathery wings protrude from her back, clean and well kempt.
Combat Abilities:
Strengths: As an angel, although still relatively young, Esme has access to formidable light-based magic, which she primarily uses to defend herself and her allies, in addition to functional healing purposes. Years of training and service in the Belgaen Medical Corps have gifted her with a wide knowledge on the concepts and application of battlefield medicine, with a specialty in a combination of traditional and magical field surgery.
Weaknesses: Esme is bound by her medical oath, and staunchly refuses to do mortal harm to another Being or Creature, with the exception of extreme circumstances. She takes this oath very seriously, as she considers the medical field to be her life's work, and will only use non-lethal offensive magic, and failing that, content to merely defend herself against attack.
History: Born into a medical background, Esme was brought up to be caring, watching out for others before herself, entirely at odds with the selfish tendencies of her race. In her early teens she worked long hours of the day as a volunteer in the service of a local civilian practice, coming to understand just how valuable the assistance of a single person such as herself could be to others in need of medical or financial aid. Although she had become decent at the use of magical healing, she became intrigued by the possibilities that an amalgam of traditional, technological medicine and magical medicine could bring.
At the age of eighteen, against the urgings of her parents, she voluntarily joined the Belgaen Medical Corps, spending six years in a government-sponsored school learning internal medicine, field surgery techniques, and the necessities of quick and experienced triage on the battlefield. She then spent twenty years in various war zones, putting her skills to use helping soldiers of all sides, and more importantly the civilians caught in the conflicts. Her latest posting has brought her to the Belgaen capital, recently the site of bloody conflict between food-starved peasants and the aristocratic rulers.. With the city rapidly running low on medical supplies the impartial Medical Corps has became increasingly desperate to find assistance.
A strange invitation to the ball of the Scarlet Masque has provided a unique opportunity to petition sources for aid, although why she has been invited remains a mystery.
Although a little late in coming, Cog approved my petition to join. In the meantime, I must wait for a review.
But for now, I sleep.
Reports of my untimely death have been exaggerated. Reports of my very timely demise have likewise been misconstrued.
Character is approved. I'll PM you with details, sir.
Of course, if the nameless foes were to somehow confront Esme mentally, there is a temptation to have them gain an inexplicable desire for a cup of tea...

Just wanted to point out, Az, that although no-one may remember Vixana in this part of the world, they did send the ice pack to Kiet Ti'Pallo. :P

I must say, I was wondering that sometimes myself, E. :P
I would imagine that any self-respecting town would have a library, though, and considering it's a resort-y sort of place, probably a bookstore or two.
i was thinking it to be somewhere between town hall and the school

That's kind of what he is worried about... his words didn't come out right. It is too be expected, he got bonked on the head.
I admit that E's actions as well as some of the other players had me confused. I knew a hotel didn't have a library, but somehow E made it look like it did...
Also, sorry E, I thought the "Atem" thing was by virtue of your own mispelling...my apologies but honestly you do tend to do that. ^^; I'll go and edit my post, if you edit that she did acknowledge his name.
I don't see how Rynkura looks untrustworthy though. :rolleyes
i do apologize for that. i know that i misspell a lot such as epyon being spelled eypon and all. it's not you fault. Aten set up the Atem alter when he introduced himself to Cog and Mel but that was pages ago. i find that i've lost track of everyone Else's story thread as well. also it's not Rynkura's fault that he's a bit antsy about being invites and by his real name non the less. he's worried that his parents are trying to lure him back and make him take over the family business and some such. because of this he's seeing mind readers all over the place though he has not encountered one yet.
That's okay, no problem. I'll remember to acknowledge "Atem" in the future. Though if I remember correctly it was he who invited Rynkura to the table, not the other way around. He ought to know soon enough that all she wanted was directions to the library. :3
Which I'm guessing is still nonexistent, "in the hotel"-wise. <<
nods. i had aten/atem seek out of the hotel and canvas the surrounding buildings until he found the library and he searched until he founds books on this mad goddess that the wolf had mentioned and on the history of the ball. he hasn't had more then a chance to glace though them but he's read them in full later.
as for Rynkura's desire to fine the Library? he'll help her but he'll still want to know what she can tell him about the upcoming ball and balls past.
Um, you do remember she said that was the first ball she's been invited to in years? She knows as much about it as Aten does. xP
Name: Gareeku Manoko
Race: Being
Gender: Male
Species: White-furred Wolf (see avatar)
Physical Description: (see avatar) - Medium length black spiky hair; spiked out up and back, save for near the front where various bangs of hair of various length cascade down his forehead, styled in a slight middle parting (though they do not extend further than eye level). (The hair is similar to Jin Kazama's from the Tekken series of fighting games.)
However, The hair isn't exactly the same. Just below the part of the hair that spikes out and back on the back of his head is an area of longer hair that reaches down to around the same level as his biceps. This area is usually (but doesn't have to be) tied together in a ponytail by a long thin strand of fabric (like the one that Ken uses in the Street Fighter Alpha series - http://www.fightersgeneration.com/characters2/ken-mshvs.jpg).
Clothing: A set of deep Blue sleeveless gi top and pants, a black martial arts belt, with a sheathed Katana fastened to his side, and sandals on his feet. He also wears red fingerless gloves, which begin just below his elbow on his forearm. At the end of his gloves (where it stops just before the elbow) and on his wrists are thin bands of metal which seemingly hold the gloves in place. He also wears a brown hooded cloak over the top of his clothes.
Combat Abilities: Master of the sword and martial arts. Has also intricate knowledge and mastery of 'soul energy', as well as being quite talented in fire and ice magic.
History: (Taken from older RPs because at this time I don't have the energy to rewrite it) - Gareeku was born to a Being father and a Succubus mother, and is oddly enough a rather unique creature, in that while he does not possess the wings of a cubi, he does share a few of their traits, such as the lifespan and heightened senses of a cubi. Despite this, Gareeku is still a being, and so shares their needs for food, drink and sleep.
Having met Gareeku's adventurer father, an arctic wolf Being, just after leaving SAIA, Gareeku's mother, a powerful vixen succubus named Alica Hannack, soon fell in love with him and bore a child; Gareeku Manoko. Gareeku had a relatively normal upbringing with two loving parents in a small town where various races lived together in harmony, learning martial arts and the art of magic from his father from a young age. However, Gareeku's happy life would soon change. When he was 16, the boy discovered that his father had been brutally murdered by a group of demons who had ambushed Siriso as he ventured out on a quest. Swearing revenge, Gareeku carried on learning the ways of combat while taking care of his grief-stricken mother up until he was 18, when he ventured out on his first quest, learning of a group of demons that were terrorizing various nearby towns
Upon arriving at one of the towns, Gareeku came face to face with the group; the same group that has murdered his father. A long and hard battle commenced, the demon group shocked at how powerful what they considered as the "lowly being" was. Eventually Gareeku managed to slay the group, though the cuts and bruises scattered all over his body showed that it was by far no easy victory. The battle would be the first of many in Gareeku's career as an adventurer.
When he was 21, Gareeku returned from a quest to find that his mother had disappeared. Fearing the worst, Gareeku set out to travel the world to look for her. Eventually, he found that she was still alive, much to his relief, and was residing in a Cubi town, Gareeku choosing to continue his adventuring career as he knew she was safe from any attack in Harkhun.
Trivia: When he can be bothered, Gareeku is quite the cook. Excelling in chicken and pasta dishes in particular.
Gareeku's joining? Awesoooooome! :boogie 8)

actually i hadn't read your post yet when i responded here. i'm doing so now as i didn't have time to come up with a response before work.
Just a query; why would a hotel have a library? I have never heard of such a thing.
It's a very posh hotel.
So it seems. I guess.
The hotel does not have a library. I've been acting under the assumption that the library is -outside- somewhere, in the town.
i'd guess it's somewhere between the hotel , school and town hall.

So it seems. I guess.
In hindsight (woo, 20/20) it would appear I was less than clear. My point was, it's very posh, so it's possible they have a collection of books somewhere; or, more likely, they have an arrangement with the local library to borrow books from
them. Being a not terribly small town, chances are there's a reasonable library not too far away.
Or something of that sort.

Yes, probably. It was an excellent chance for interaction between the players.

Much like Camiole, Jayce and Simon, the Golem... which has yet to announce its name, is the fourth retainer sent by Illura TiPaollo to assist her son. They mostly exist as background and for creating interesting situations. The golem itself is a magical and mechanical construct with a living soul bound to it as a control mechanism. They have integrated weapons systems consisting of bladed weapons, hafted weapons and four barrel rotary bolter cannons. Other than a few, a majority of them are just engines of war as an entire race of mythos... ironically their original designers were "rewarded" by Paollo by having their souls torn from their bodies and placed in their machines. This race, the Tekka, are also responsible for Kiet's wonderful energy sword. You have got to love ancient times, might makes right and anything goes in the pursuit of power.
Aw, llearch. You're almost making me feel bad, now. :P
It could be said that you're looking at it the wrong way, though. You're were only staying the one night anyway, so it's less that they're kicking you out and more that you're getting to check out before the 11:00 rush. :3
Oh, sure, they were leaving anyway.
But she was hoping to get some breakfast for Rover...
... perhaps before he puts his head into the kitchen window and asks for himself. *cough*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomatic_immunity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomatic_immunity)
For those interested. :3
:tmyk!
I am well aware of the difficulties and statutes associated with legal enforcement and diplomatic immunity. Most notably in automotive law and insurance law.
Yes, but that is also governed by a different set of cultural and governmental values, not to mention a whole differing viewpoint based on a human mindset. Not to say anything is not similar or far worse in a Furrae-like environment.
Additionally, no one is trying to escape responsibility for said violations, but it is not unreasonable to issue the complaint to the consulate and have an administrative proxy appear for court hearings, instead of the specific official themselves.
One last caveat, because this is a fantasy game, any golem in the service of a TiPaollo clan member is automatically granted the status as a Military Attaché somewhere between FS-6 and FS-3.
Important Edit:

There are a lot of sub-plots with each character going on. This is a good thing! However, despite my best efforts at acquiring the spice melange, I'm not prescient. In an effort to enhance the experience of this RP, I'm asking everyone who is planning on introducing something character-related that I'm not going to know about already to please PM me on the matter to at least let me know what you're doing.
E - I've got no idea what you're doing, and I honestly don't know what to do with you until you tell me.
Gar - I've never heard of Saiyetonia, so I can't give you any information about it in the book. However, I can provide with you alternative reading material, as you shall see. If Gar is looking for anything specific, though, please let me know so that I can accommodate you.
Thanks!
well i was giving you the generalization of the letter. aten has been trying to dig up information on the mad goddess , the Valmont family and the list of guest previously invited to the ball to find out if there was any patterned. he can't bee sure of anything any more and in the full letter her states that while he hopes to she her and cogi at the ball he is also fearful of approaching her grandmother with out properly being introduced. he has been out of the Noble courts for a long time and fears his edict is rusty and would gratefully appreciate it if she were t0 help him not swallow his foot if she is there when he meets her grandmother as he would hate to embarrass her. and so forth. from this point until the ball atem as he still introduces him self will wonder around town hopefully meeting other gust and find out more. at this point i'd like him to run into rover and tim. i can post the full letter when i return in two days time if you like.
... Tim is doing her damnedest to get Rover out of town.
My Muse, on the other hand, is doing her damnedest to drive Tim nuts. :-/ I'm hoping to get Rover into his outfit and out of town in a couple of posts, though, so meeting up with them is likely to be difficult.
And, as Cog says, if you want to interact, you need to tell people, rather than presuming we can read minds...
Well considering I've never mentioned anything about Saiyetonia before, Cog, I didn't expect you to. I was just making my character do something aside from standing around like a dork. I'll post something else sometime later.
Karazkt's just lying in his cell, listening to the general discordant thrum of activity in the Castle, waiting for Jeremiah or someone/thing else to come get him... :B

Cog regarded Aten with a raised eyebrow, giving Mel a sideways glance out of the corner of his eye. He grabbed his drink and sipped on it, swallowing and coughing just a bit, and giving the feline a white-toothed grin.
"We've been here before, yes, although I think Mel more times than I." he said, setting his drink of amber liquid down. "So, she'd probably have more funny stories about what kings and dignitaries get up to when the've had too much to drink." he paused, adjusting his hat and leaning forward, giving the cat a look over the top of his glasses. "I daresay, though, it can be pretty funny watching wars start over what Their Harold did to Our William and whatnot." the wolf grinned.
He leaned back. "Even with the starched shirts, it's a great lot of fun." he said, pushing up his glasses. "'Specially when Luna starts causing trouble. But, ah - are you staying here, sir?" he paused, looking expectantly.

"I received an invitation, and here I am." he said simply, drinking down the rest of his drink while a slightly disturbed waitress set Aten's in front of him, retrieving the wolf's glass while she was there. "As for who invited you, the anonymous benefactor of the ball chooses to remain anonymous." he said, smiling slightly. He nodded to Mel. "I imagine if he asked your grandmother, though, she'd be able to tell him, yah?"
one the top of page six i mention that aten recognizes that cogi mentioned a goddess. not that she was mad or anything.

As Atem spoke, his copy of "The Complete History of Dragons, Vol. 466, Part II. (Abridged)", by Billingsly Topaz, fell onto the floor. Atem had to keep from dropping his plate - the chaper head was titled very simply, "LL", with a drawing of the same beneath it.
this reaffirms that Aten found something about LL and her family while he was probably looking up his uncle but most of the back information from you. it did mention the search parameters but nothing complete as i have nothing to really go on.
i hate microsoft a lot of the time.

And, as Cog says, if you want to interact, you need to tell people, rather than presuming we can read minds...
Reading minds is required, did you miss the memo?
If it was inside your mind, yes. ;-]
LL stands for Luna Lazuli Icewing. That is who Cog referred to as Luna.
I'm not following your logic, E. I don't think Cog ever mentioned a goddess (and it doesn't appear to have in your quotes either). If he did, it was a joke and in passing. And most of that other stuff, I don't quite see how it fits in with the rest. Search parameters?

It is an essential skill in the IT world, it is one of the first classes taught to tech support... probably should be technical skills though.
i'm sorry but i was referring to Luna who is sometimes referred t as the goddess of the moon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luna i didn't realized that she was Mel's grandmother. as for the rest he's been looking for a conspiracy as to why he's been invited it goes back to his reasons for seeking out information in the belief that family secrets or interest are behind his invitation even if it is on the side or paranoia http://llearch.net/misc/rp/MGM/?page=Aten_Valmont. even so i think i'll need time to redefine his actions and approach to the other charters to make him seems less skittish. .
I just thought I'd add a footnote to go along with my recent post. Don't anybody try to suggest to me a result of my character's actions that would lead to a surprise again, because I found myself trying to avoid it. And I found that the only way I could stay in character was have Ryn walk into the trap anyway. :B
Well played, guys, well played. x3
Only one or two people will get what I'm talking about. xP The rest of you ignore me, I just felt like ranting after trying to mentally worm my way out of a quandary that might just happen.
Oh, my.
Rynkura's going to be a lot of fun. >:3
Sorry, Aisha. I'll try to remember that, and only suggest things to Cog.
By the way, e_voyager, not that I'm complaining or anything, but Rover isn't in the stables. In fact, he never was; he stayed beside them, because he didn't fit. He's currently a couple of blocks away, happily painting the clock tower with a bucket of hot chocolate.
Not only that, but the stables are currently a large pile of rubble, what with him having accidentally torn them apart...

Whups, sorry. Wrote the post at a friend's house. Is fix'd.
say llearch shall i have aten regain his composure and inquire as to what a griffin that large is doing by a building that is now seemingly coated in chocolate?
You can if you like, but it might not fit as well as you might think.
I've had this churning in the back of my head for a bit, but haven't had the time to spell it out on the forum.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go to bed...
trying to catch you before you and the officer vanish on me. i'm not overly fond of chocolate and even less of being a chocolate statue.
I don't think you'd be in much danger of that, E. It's not liquid chocolate, but more like the sort of hot chocolate one might drink on any overly cold streetcorner in a northern climate - delicious, sweet, slightly grainy, and no doubt consisting entirely of synthetic chocolate powder, hot water, and long-dissolved marshmallows.

Not unless you like burning your mouth. Chocolate doesn't usually melt until well after enough specific heat has been applied to make for some impressive burns if you get it on you. The fact that it sticks makes it worse - unlike, say, coffee, which falls off after you pull your finger out of the drink, liquid chocolate would remain on your finger, burning it more until you got it off.
This is why people tend to drink chocolate milk type liquids - they pour better, and burn less. ;-]
... This is not to say that Aten isn't still sticky and gooey, mind. I expect he's going to be needing a thorough bath to get that junk off. *grin*

Yes, but he already has seen your mode of transportation and is aware of the presence of insectis.
However, Paollo and Kiet have done unspeakable things to the creatures... whole hives left soulless, a queen or two rendered to a husk and used to breed insectis containing no souls... so they can be filled with artificial ones and made into soldiers, little things like that which have created whole legends of fear and hate among the hive Queens.
So... he probably won't be talking to Karazkt if he can avoid it.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, Kiet doesn't
hate insectis, he doesn't hate anything at all. He avoids them because in some small way, he regrets what he has done in the past. We are talking way in the past, 3000 to 4000 years ago for Kiet and Paollo's actions were 10,000 years ago and farther back. Like grandfather, like grandson.

As well - I have an announcement to make.
Due to issues of timing, I'm having something of a problem - I have people ready to move forward with the story, and people who have not yet reached the castle. In order to preserve the element of surprise on certain things, I'm going to do the following-
Everyone in the Castle is on Haitus, until the people outside of the castle get there. I'd like everyone to get there at least by the end of the week. You can still post while you're inside the Castle, but I won't be trying to move the plot forward. Not that I've been doing much there anyway, yet.
Also, Spots, I don't know what you wanted to learn from the Badger, but there are larger reasons for him wanting to kill himself.
Also, Azlan, if that's so, I hope you don't mind me borrowing that particular bit of plot for my own ends... >:3

Not at all, good sir! Exactly as was intended, in fact. :3
Oh, good.
Post is coming, coming...! Just let me zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
[collapse]
It kinda makes you look like an asshole, Az, when you post how you can totally destroy everyone else's character. Almost every time someone interacts with you. I can tell you, it turns people off from interacting with you. Don't think that llearch bugged me about it either - these are my own observations, even prior to your most recent post.
Saying how you're so invincible is a great way to make me think of ways to make you not so invincible, too. It's just how GM'ing works.
I'm not trying to knock you down, or make you feel like I'm out to get you, either. There is a great deal of the plot dealing with your character right now, which does mean that there are a lot of people trying to kill you right now, true - it doesn't mean I don't like you, but rather the opposite. Don't be fooled, however - you don't have plot armor. Being a jerk to everybody else and bragging on yourself will still have repercussions.
Well, I am not generally that way, but he is, and I don't pull punches. I generally react badly when someone goes out of their way to make me look like a fool without asking me. If you don't like it, address the whole problem.
Except, that, you've sort of done this with Techmaster and saying you've soul-sucked out entire insectis hives, and with Spots, by saying there was no foreseeable way in which Andrace could win against Kiet. What's more, you sort of do this thing in the past tense - by dropping these things into your backstory - which makes you seem even more arrogant, because it's like a watered-down form of auto-ing. "I killed ten thousand insectis years ago", in effect, isn't so very far removed from "I kill this insignificant speck now".
Now, to a certain degree, I can understand that some of it is justified - I'm not trying to say that you should make your character weaker to facilitate the self-imposed or intrinsic limits of other player's characters. But, what I am saying, is that the way you're acting now makes you look like a dick. And people don't like playing with people who act like a dick.
As for making you look silly, I agree - Nobody likes their character to be make to look stupid, or weak (ahem) without their consent - but I'd hardly call Rover licking you as such. It makes the giant Dog look more silly than you, in my opinion. If he was pissing on you, that'd be another thing, and I think I'd sympathize with your objection a bit more.
I think there is a balance to be struck - asking you every time we want to have a character interact with you if it'd be offensive would stall the RP, but on the other hand, autoing is bad. I, at least, will try and keep this more in line with your wishes in the future.
And now you know why I argued so vehemently on why tri-wing cubi should not ever be considered, imagine if I was playing one... there would be so much more nasty involved, the nicest of them act like arrogant snobs, the worst... well, let's not get into it. As Fa'Lina once said, "Cubi are diverse! Why... there are even a few whole clans of cubi that revolve around peaceful behavior!! Well... not -my- clan in particular... but there are whole clans out there..." Well, not -his- clan either. You do not reach power by being a kindergarden teacher unless you devour the souls of the children and fill them with peppermint evil.
I'm not sure what type of cubi you have understood, and I can understand that the comic is largely a comedy, but the species is not a G or PG type of creature. Thousands of years of gathering power... souls, brutality, murder, atrocities, prejudice, lust, ambition and war. No where did I say he ever did all of this alone. If you consider the comic, Merlitz stood no chance against Aaryanna or Abel during their encounters, only luck, plot and comedic license saved his tail. Merl is one of the most powerful adventuring beings I know, and his Furcadian character was no slouch. If anyone thinks they can take Destania or Ink, let alone someone like Crya, I will gladly watch it. Cubi are quite nasty, and the times of the past were dark and deadly. Beyond that I can say very little.
Yes, maybe I overreacted to Llearch... but as there doesn't seem to be any rules of interaction, I guess I've been operating under a false assumption of a necessity to attempt an action. My reply corrected that false assumption and I shall no longer operate under such false pretenses.

That's sorta the opposite of what I was trying to say. :animesweat
There shall be no autoing. That's a golden rule of RP'ing, certainly, and it keeps everyone on a fair playing field. There is a necessity to attempt an action.
However, I will say there are very limited exceptions. Shaking hands, for example - saying "Cog attempted to shake his hand" seems a bit odd, and I personally would not object, so long as it wasn't secretly for planting a tracking device, or otherwise adversely affecting the character. As far as licking, I suppose I personally didn't think it was that big of a deal - as it was both funny and not really adversely affecting - however, I can be mistaken, and in the future I'm sure this will be taken into account.
I would have loved it and would have run with it... but it just irked me that Llearch seems to be able to get away with more then the others... perhaps I am reading too much into it, long days at work and all.
so what changes to i need to make? i've got on my dress suit and cloak i haven't put on my mask yet but i'm sure there's more to the ball then that and i haven't started to look for anyone yet. i'll Look for LL soon but know hove i've played aten i'll approach her thong mel though i'm not as familiar with mel as i'll make it seem.
Forgive the somewhat basic post, but playing catch-up has never been one of my fortés.

Considering Kiet's level of ability and the fact he can, apparently, defeat everyone in the RP with his hands tied behind his back
and he was responsible for stealing the souls of a bunch of Insectis
and he is impossibly skilled in many domains of combat
and he contains the soul of a tri-wing threatening to take over his body, is there really any difference between him and some tri-wing?
Please.

Please.
Considerably... there is a massive gap of power between his level and that of the existing
canon tri-wings that I know of. I have no idea about fan created stuff, as I haven't considered them as I don't really know of any. But from what I have discovered about the existence of powerful beings in Furrae, I image there can only be so many of a certain level before those things more powerful take notice and eat them. There generally can only be so many things that can occupy certain power brackets. When considering... uh, well... 'cosmic' power scales, I think the tri-wing cubi comes in around the lowest level. Sort of like the D&D demigod status.
There are certain major things that tri-wings can do that he can not even fathom. There is also his age category, which is considerably higher than most PCs (at least what I can tell from character profiles, that is all I have to base it off of), and though he has not spent every hour of every day for that period of time fighting, training, and gathering power... a considerable amount of it was used for such. Kiet and Malyka (Ink) are peers, hold the same rank and distinction among the clans, and hold the same tenure level at SAIA.
However, if you mean in the potential to just throw raw power around then I do consider Kiet to be the highest of the player characters to be able to do that (the only one I excluded from this list is Mel, as I have a large apprehension about dragons anyways). Martial skills... well, my example has been D&D, so I'll use it again. A 40th level wizard with skill in a sword can trounce a 15th level fighter skilled in the sword. It's not a good analogy, but from a game mechanics standpoint it is true.
Now, he never really did all of that on his own... like the hives, he had armies backing him up, but he did get the souls of the hive queens himself. Only his grandfather ever razed a whole hive by himself.
I really planned on avoiding all conflicts between other players and working out conflicts as best as possible. I really never expected it to be an issue, because no really ever reads what I post anyways.
I want to re-iterate... raw magical power, mana, magical might, spell power and magical skill (likely stronger mental abilities, natural cubi abilities, and such then the other younger cubi... though if they are a specialist in something, then they are likely better) He cannot arm wrestle with Class C Gryphons, burrow through stone
without the use of magic, Alter large areas of reality at whim, etc.
And nobody's going to want to interact with Kiet when he's arrogant and prone to starting fights, but nigh-invincible anyways. An endless litany of reasons for how much better he is than everybody else's PC doesn't excuse how obnoxious it is when nobody can possibly stand up to him. His pompousness and better-than-you attitude IS going to set off some other characters, and when you insist on the impossibility of any kind of challenge, it's essentially god modding.
You can proclaim your dubiousness about a dragon, and Mel could have all of the powers in the world, but it's irrelevant if Mel never uses them, never claims invulnerability, and doesn't run around boasting and starting conflicts because the character doesn't cause any serious problems. Players will want nothing to do with Kiet when he does something ridiculous like have a "substitution puppet" for something so benign as a gryphon licking.
My 2 cents.
*hands back 2 cents*
Here is your change back. Most of the high end players, if this was any concern to them, would already have at least a couple of strategies to defeat Kiet planned out. However, the minute I joined, they had already tuned me out of existence anyways. I spent a good few pages of posts testing that hypothesis. However, there really shouldn't be a need to fight player verse player. Even if there is, learn to fight smarter rather than harder. I actually abhor player verse player, so Kiet is stacked to discourage that.
At least something finally fell into place properly and Spots can finally have Andrace start to piece her target together.
Edit: Just ignore me like everyone else does. Just go with the "he's a pathetic, loser and twink". I've grown used to it.
The moment you start pre-planning the metagame, if that is what you've actually done here, you're doing it wrong. This is an RP, and that means it's about the characters and hopefully personal development through experience, not about satisfying some egotistical needs. That's pretty much the end of the fucking discussion right there.
Everyone who plays cleverly gets their own sweet spots. Everyone who writes well develops and demonstrates their talent. Everyone who goes in for proper characterization learns something. You know what people who ignore the plot and just go in for stroking their own ego get? Nothing. They only get an overinflated ego.
Wash the ceiling, and good day, sir.
Right. Well, I think I have to post now. Tempers have gotten a little hot, and I think there are some grievances that deserve to be addressed on both ends here.
However, I don't have time to address them right now. I'd like to request everyone not post here until such time as I am able to respond.
Just to clarify, do you mean here in the OOC, or here in the RP as well?
Just here, in the OOC.
Edit:
In some ways, I'm not very happy about having to post this. The time that it takes me to post here is time that I could be using to be creative with the story, and to be giving people things to do, plot points to navigate, and villians to slay. But, instead, I am here, dealing with this drama - perhaps
I am wrong for trying to address this, and am making it worse by doing so. It could be that leaving it alone means it would just fade out of mind, and that the drama that I'm perceiving here, I only make worse by addressing it.
But, on the other hand, it's apparent to me that people here do have real problems, and that there are sore feelings on all sides. As the GM of the RP, it's better for me if my players get along - as players, as far as the game is concerned, it's better for
you if you get along as well. This is, after all, something we do for fun.
I do find it interesting that conflicts seem to crop up in these sorts of things so very often. I suppose getting writers and creative types to get along and meld their own personal image of things with everyone else's is bound to get some sore feelings going. The only other thing I can think of is that people are dicks - and to be honest, I like you all, and I shall choose to believe the former.
Quote*hands back 2 cents*

Edit: Just ignore me like everyone else does. Just go with the "he's a pathetic, loser and twink". I've grown used to it.
I'll start at the end.
Firstly - nobody here is trying to say you're pathetic, Az, or a loser - although they might be trying to tell you that you're acting like a twink. Curling into a defensive ball doesn't help anyone out, however - not you, and not the rest of us, and while it may be easier to just think we all just don't like you, and are saying mean things to make you feel bad, this isn't so. Speaking for myself, and what
I have said in the past, this is most certainly not so. Please - don't dismiss what they say, simply because some feel frustrated and are showing it. The intent here is not to act out some old grudge, or because we like to say hurtful things. It's not fair to us, or to you.
As far as Kiet - I approved your character, so I cannot really complain about his being as powerful as he is. Moreso, I seem to recall encouraging powerful PC's at some point, because you are going to be set against very powerful foes, and I plan on taxing everyone as much as I can. So, it's not necessarily the power of your character that people are objecting to here. As you yourself said, Mel is a very powerful character, and she gets no flak for this.
I will say, correlating the power levels of Ink and your character did not ever happen in my mind. And, as an addendum, although I cannot complain that he
is as powerful as he is, if it gets onerous, this can be changed throughout the course of the RP, be it through making him weak or the others strong.
What is objectionable is when you start posting stuff like:
QuoteYes, but he already has seen your mode of transportation and is aware of the presence of insectis.
Now, is Kiet is a ancient general of immense power - alright, fair enough. But was there any reason to post that he's destroyed entire
civilizations of Tech's PC? There wasn't, for any reason that I could see, except to reinforce that Kiet is stronger than Tech's insectis. This is what people are objecting to, and it comes across as dick-waving more than anything else. I apologize for using a vulgar phrase, but I cannot think of another effective way to put it.
It is possible to be a powerful character without trying to rub everyone else's noses in how weak they are. Admittedly, if it's part of Kiet's character to be an arrogant prick, than he has done so well, and I don't really think I could then fault you. But, this isn't something I'd necessarily recommend as a wise character traits either.
QuoteI would have loved it and would have run with it... but it just irked me that Llearch seems to be able to get away with more then the others... perhaps I am reading too much into it, long days at work and all.
If I want to let someone do something, I'll fucking let them do it.
It's not unfair. It's not playing favorites. It's me, coming to a judgment about that player's ability to be trusted, and deciding on whether or not I want to let them do what they're asking. I get to decide this, because I'm GM-ing this particular game. llearch has a nice imagination. I've told him no on several occasions to certain requests. He in no way gets special treatment because I like him better than you.
This isn't Tammany Hall, and I'm not wearing Tweed. Don't accuse me of playing favorites, please. It is entirely accurate to say that I let some people get away with things I wouldn't let others, simply because I trust them more. If someone proves they're not an idiot, I'm generally pretty open-minded as far as it goes. If you don't like that, tough. Find another place to play.
I'll also point out you've never asked me if you could do anything, as far as I recall. I find it odd, then, that you think llearch gets away with things that you (or someone else?) doesn't.
QuoteHowever, the minute I joined, they had already tuned me out of existence anyways. I spent a good few pages of posts testing that hypothesis.
Where and when was this? I don't recall reading any of that.
What's more, I find it far more likely that I wasn't able to provide adequate reason for your and other characters to interact. GMing and writing this thing is hard, and I ask your apologies.
In conclusion...
The criticisms that have been thrown around have lacked a certain amount of politeness. I understand that tempers can sometimes get a little high. We're all big boys and girls here, though, and I'm sure we can talk to each other as such.
All this being said, hopefully a IC post will be forthcoming either today or tomorrow. I shall now go listen to something calming, drink some coffee, and think about what the TF2 announcer would have done to you all, if only to assuage my guilt-ridden conscience (read, evil-grin inducing contemplations).
Thank you all for participating, you're all wonderful, beautiful people, etc etc, The Management.
By the by, Az, I have, several times, held back on posting here because I haven't seen that I could post anything useful; all I could say would pour oil on troubled waters, and then, in someone else's pithy phrase, set it alight.
Having said that, if you do have objections to my characters actions, feel free to tell me, and I'll be happy to, at the very least, discuss an edit to my post to adjust their approach, if not edit it outright. Often times, I'm posting what seems to me to be a reasonable action or attempt - I try to ask before doing anything objectionable, but I'm only human, and make mistakes, just like the rest of us.
And I'd like to apologise for overstepping the boundaries. Obviously, with Kiet, they're not where I thought they were, and I'll try to adjust to that, as we go along. Please bear with me - I tend to get carried away with Rover, because I find him a lot of fun to play.

Yes, I thank you for that. For myself, I grow angry and start throwing barrels at plumbers. It seems when attacked, I will defend my position at the sacrifice of everything... beyond good reason. My only solace is that I am at least true to myself, I do not hide behind a mask of deception.

No, no... do as you will... Once I thought it would be keen to force others to acquiesce to the way I wanted things. However, it is a hollow and pitiful thing.

What is objectionable is when you start posting stuff like:
QuoteYes, but he already has seen your mode of transportation and is aware of the presence of insectis.
Now, is Kiet is a ancient general of immense power - alright, fair enough. But was there any reason to post that he's destroyed entire civilizations of Tech's PC?
Well, for this there was a reason... part of it is from what I know of the species, but being out of the loop for awhile it has likely been superseded. This part I cannot go into, but the other I will. I typed what I typed, and since I know what I wanted to convey I have trouble seeing the issue, but combined with other things it is quite harsh. The simple fact is that Kiet has done horrible things in his life, and he has come to regret them deeply. He avoids most of it rather than confronting it, in this he prefers to run than face the pain.
If you wish to know more about why I choose to to address this in that manner rather than in game, I ask that you PM me Cog, I do not wish to air it here.
Name: Cerebus Morax
Species: Jackal
Race: Being, with demon heritage
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown, looks to be be in his mid to late thirties.
Physical description: Cerebus possesses an athletic build, toned and muscular, but not overly so. He stands at 6' 4" in height and his eyes are red in colour. While he sports predominately black fur, streaks of dark red can be seen, though only on his torso, arms and legs.
His hair is long, extending down just past his shoulders to his chest in length, and a dark red in colour. It is usually brushed back and tied in a ponytail, save for one bang of hair which cascades down over his face from the middle of his hairline to the left of his muzzle (the right if you look straight on at him), reaching to just below it.
Attire: Although Cerebus wears a variety of clothing, he is most often seen in a suit of some sort with the suit jacket sometimes sporting tails, and sometimes with fingerless gloves depending on his preference. Either way, it is very rare to see Cerebus not sharply-dressed.
Background: Cerebus was born to a being father and demon mother, but never knew his father as he was killed before he was born. Not much else is known about him, Cerebus himself choosing to keep this information secret. Nobody is even sure how he managed to come into such wealth and associate himself with the aristocracy, having become a familiar figure even in many aristocratic creature circles. What people do know, however, is that Cerebus never fails to impress with his shrewd business manner and sophistication, neither of which would normally be expected from one raised by a demon.
The real reason why Cerebus is the man he is today, however, is not so rosy. Ever since he can remember, he had been told stories of the talents that various creatures possess by his mother, including the talents of manipulation many angels possess. Very quickly, the jackal learnt the ways of demonhood, though much to his frustration he would not possess the same abilities that his mother and other demons did. Having been raised on the belief that power is everything, this infuriated him.
But if he could not obtain power the way that demons could, then he would have to do it another way; through angels' methods.
Through countless acts of manipulaton, betrayal, blackmail and sometimes cold-blooded murder, all hidden by a talented business mind, Cerebus Morax made his way up the ranks of the aristocracy, developing a deep sophistication and love of the finer things in life. Though deep down there is a dark intent, for inside the body of a being lies the dark heart and bloodlust of a demon, and manipulation talents of an angel.
What's the new character for?
...To rp with...? >_>;
Nah, just thought I'd introduce another character. I've had the green light from Cog.
I'm afraid I have to make a call of absence, guys. A couple of computer issues came up...they're outlined here. (http://risendecabre.deviantart.com/journal/)
Both of our computers are gonna be taken apart a bit for repairs, starting tomorrow from what I've been told, and it's not going to be done too quickly. I hope to be back within a few days, but it's not for certain. So, if the RP must move quickly, I trust that my character can be controlled accordingly.
That also goes for the other RPs I'm involved in, The Castle and Furrae Chronicles.
Thank you!
Aw, man. Right before things were about to move on. :<
I will attempt to keep Rynkura moving foward with the action, then. She'll be here when you get back.
okay i and now completely lost as to where i am right now. i thong i was in the hall way to the main ballroom if not there already i can hardly see a lot of unknowns being allowed to wander all willie nillie around someone's castle until they happen to stumble across the ballroom
E -
You walked inside the Castle. The Ballroom doors are open, and everyone was called to go ahead and enter. You are amongst this group of everyone. This was in the first room you walked in. You are now in the ballroom.
ah thanks for clearing it up.
I do apologize to all for my lack of postage recently. Lots of stuff with school came up, and afterwards (and during) I had a serious lack of muse. Do expect a post sometime tomorrow though. Again, sorry.
Darn it, Mel! I was supposed to be saving the groveling for later! :U
Sadly, folks, I am going on holiday. I'll be back at the end of May.
In the mean time, Cog has agreed to steer Tim and Rover through the shoals of conversation on the dance floor. One hopes that Rover will not put any dents in it, and that Tim won't put her foot in her mouth. Too much.
I'll find out when I come back. ;-]

Cog: the person Karazkt is talking to is basically any random person who looks like they're a part of Luna's entourage.
not kid tested... Cogi approved
Name: Baseel (pronounced Bah Seel) Wolkshammer
Race: Demon
Gender: Male
Species: Demon Canine, Shepherd
Physical Description: At 828 years Bas has been around for quite some time, and yet, none of his age comes through in his appearance. Tall, and thin, yet well muscled, one would find him to be the poster child of the demon race, at least in appearance. He Looks to be in his early 20's by being standards.
Across his back, starting at the top of his head, and running all the way down his back is a near jet black fur across his front is a silver tinged with a hint of brown, running across his face, down his throat and down his body, and ending in pure silver extremities. He has full black patches around his eyes, giving him an almost raccoon mask coloring. His muzzle is also mostly black, with brown around the corners of his mouth, and a silver ring right as his snout begins to broaden. A black diamond shape sits between his eyes and goes from the bridge of his nose to the crown of his head.
His cephalic hair is a reddish blond, and is worn in dreadlocks that reach down slightly below his shoulder blades.
Bas sports a rather impressive pair of horns that sprout just behind his eyes, they curve up and around, facing slightly forward at the tips. (http://www.northernelectric.ca/~whitefox/images/dmfa/basilisk/basilisk4.png reference by whitefox)
His wings match his fur patterns quite nicely, dark at the top, moving to brown about the shoulders, then silver at center mass down. though the bottom wings are rimmed in black as well. His wingspan is 16 feet at maximum, and given his musculature, he seems capable of flight.
For clothing he usually wears a dark, forest green robe, with black trim held together with gold chords. Sometimes he will wear matching pant if he expects to be moving fast.
In the ball, Bas is wearing a dark blue overcoat, with a long tail. The coat is rimmed in gold thread, along with gold colored accents along the cuffs, collar, and the coat-tails.
His dress shirt underneath is slightly off-white, adorn with pure silver buttons, accents and cuff-links. The Wolkshammer family crest is on the clasp holding Baseel's coat firmly around his body. He is wearing blue pants which match the coat, and are accented with a golden lining.
His wings are folded almost straight back, and opening upwards. It would appear as if someone poured molten silver across the surface of his leathery wings, and drew then guided the liquid silver into a series of tasteful, yet unique twisting and swirling patterns, then let it harden. His mask is a lighter blue, edged by silver. Under the eyes is a golden pattern which appears to be quite similar to a cubi clan mark, though if one can read ancient demon they would know it's a simple blessing, reading, "Strength, Honor, Power and Respect"
Combat Abilities: As with most demons he can harden his skin as if it were armor and grow fingers into long, dagger like claws. He's used these skills most of his life, and they only add to his fighting prowess. Preferably, Bas likes to fight with dark magic, and will cast spells ranging from consuming or shrouding the light in an area, to forming exploding bolts of dark energy.
He can summon but 2 items, and they are stored at his family's castle. A massive 4 foot diameter metal rimmed wooded shield (heavily enchanted to increase it's durability... not unbreakable, but close) with a metal boss, and a double edged battle axe which he has named Reaper. Reaper is enchanted, much like the shield for enhanced durability, capped at both ends of the shaft with metal spikes, and hook like protrusions form the edges of the axe head allowing it to be used to grab as well as slash an opponent.
He has the ability to heal himself, and other demons, though his dark magic based healing seems to only work on demons and cubi.
History: The Wolkshammer family is a bit of mystery, wrapped in a puzzle, encased in an enigma. What is known is that they're very firm believers in keeping the demon lineage pure, and they also seem to breed some of the most clever and racial stereotype-defying members of the demon families. Bas fits this mold quite nicely. He doesn't actively engage in random violence, and doesn't believe wholesale slaughter is the end all be all of amusement of the more powerful. That isn't to say he isn't brutal when he fights, nor does he avoid combat. He merely doesn't pray on the innocent, instead his mere presence usually stirs up a couple of adventurers stupid enough to try and 'slay a horrible creature'.
Being part of a powerful family has forced him to attend many events as a representative for his parents. He doesn't mind attending these parties, as they always provides an opportunity for meeting women, or at the very least, a change of scenery.
Personality wise, Bas is unpredictable, yet friendly. Despite his intimidating appearance, he gives off a very likable aura, something rare for a demon. He is friendly with many, but friends with few. Those who Bas does truly befriend, he would be willing to do almost anything for. Very loyal, and proud, Bas also feels that honesty and trustworthiness are key, as one's reputation is all one has when they live for millennia.
Trivia: Bas is known to enter and exit relationships at whimsy, currently single, he seems to be quite flirtatious, though usually not serious.
His horns are massive, yet he constantly seems to ignore the fact that they're there
Although he can teleport his shield and Axe incredible distances, he himself has not mastered the trick, and is still terrified to try it to this day. The first time he tried teleporting, he returned home almost a week later, terrified and borderline catatonic, he has yet to tell anyone about what happened.
His Axe and shield were a gift given to him on his 16th birthday, and he has killed more sentients with the shield than the axe... though both pale in comparison to his body count from magic.
There is a poll. You must vote in it!
Buh?
Translation : But huh? what is this about ? you've completely lost me and i want to find out want you are talking about before i say something that could be taken one way or the other so please repeat or clear up what you just said.
in other words. are those songs, places or events in the poll how do that relate to the rp.
I think the whole point is that we're not supposed to know what this poll is about :B
I plumped for In The Clouds. But then, given the gryphons, I would, wouldn't I?
If you look on the first page, E, I have placed an edit post there to explain what I'm asking all of you about. :3
my vote, it is cast
you know, with the voting system, since people are pairing off it would see already, why not just have people call out where they want, and separate that way... could have it done tonight... :P ... or have people PM you what they voted for... that way people won't know their partner until they're stuck together...
I voted abandoned city as i was thinking "oh cool lost city á la Atlantis/Tomb Raider etc" but i'm most likely wrong. Meh.
Also hoping Cerebus is, you know, actually somewhat alive somewhere.

Yes, but this also gives me time to write individual plots for each group of folks for each location.
It also seems we have a four-way tie. :\ I have to go totally not play BFG with compadres right now, but if it's still deadlocked when I get back tonight I'll see what I can do about a tiebreaker.
My apologies to all, but my car managed to get a flat tire far away from home last night, so I got home a bit late. Just got it all sorted out a few hours ago, and I notice it's now a five-way tie.
So what I'm going to do is shorten this a bit. One last poll on either A: The End of the World or B: The Heart of the Earth. I will also reserve my vote as a tiebreaker.
Insofar as groupings, I'm going to generally do what makes sense. If you think two characters would get along swimmingly or have an idea for ebil-ness, you can PM me and I will see if it fits in with my dark plot.
The End Of The World.
After all, that way someone can be singing REM songs...
A note to all RPs I'm in - Starting tomorrow, my Internet access may be sporadic or cut off completely, as my family is visiting some other family for a week. If I can post something I will, but no guarantees.
say GM what are the chances my running into Mel, Tim or Sasha's( did i spell that right?) group?

The caverns shook. Cerebus shrugged. "We're in what is, effectively, an entirely separate plane from the rest of reality, controlled by the God of the fellow you just killed. Why we're not dead yet I'm not certain."
Uh... Azlan is not there, he wouldn't want to be there... he'd probably turn the husk of a dead god into cake and feed it to pygmy shrews...

Anyway, I think you may have misunderstood what Karazkt was doing. This is a multi-level castle, right? With rooms and hallways above and below the ballroom? What Karazkt did was blow a hole in the floor, right over an existing hallway, and now he's running around towards the nearest outer wall. He's not actually burrowing through anything at the moment.
Unless I am mistaken, and what I just said about the castle is not true? In that case, I -may- need to edit my post some.

As it so happens, that used to be so. And then the castle morphed itself around you to deliberately screw with you. The environment hates you, you see, like Silent Hill. Very passive-agressive.

Whoa, I didn't realize it was Andrace and whoever else she's with that Karazkt (somehow due to some crazy reality-warping) had stumbled across. Oh well, wouldn't have changed anything anyway.
how about me? am i keeping up with you guys?
Edit
it seems that i am completely lost and probably forgotten in this RP
Last minute change - llearch and Styg changed places. The gryphons are in the skyland place. It made little sense for them to be otherwise. It was very late when I finished this post.
Also, E: I know it's not your fault - but you are, very often, unintelligible. Even when I sit down and look at your posts very hard. The fact is that in the process of writing an RP, you have to advance the plot by getting player characters to interact with each other - this is difficult enough by itself, let alone when a player character cannot be understood. I have to think of all the players when I write something, when making plot points, writing interactions, and trying to steer the action. Putting a player in a position where they have to struggle to understand a person's actual written words, in addition to asking them to be creative, doesn't work. It's not fun for them, it's not fun for everyone else, and it's not fun for you, E.
I can see your ideas. You have the creativity. But it's so difficult to understand you that character interaction is impossible, and that's the basis of RP'ing itself.
I guess this is me saying that I've tried to see if I could just do it myself, but this RP is so large that I don't have the creativity and energy left. I am truly sorry, but at this point, I can't write anything else regarding Atem.
not a problem Cogidubnus . i saw this coming actually. i've been have trouble figuring out how to respond to people who to approach and everything else and that was making aten an minor part of it all and entirely unnecessary in the grand scheme of thing.
I appreciate it E. Thank you for your understanding.
no problem but give me a call if Eternal Rains starts back up though i think the chance of it are slight at this point though
Just a notification: Due to the passing of my Grandmother, I will likely be out of contact with the internet from Monday August 17th through Thursday August 27th. I will be traveling to the island of Kauai in Hawaii and I am not sure of my internet availability in these areas.
I felt kinda odd as I wrote this most recent post for Karazkt :B Poor bug doesn't get a break.
Coggeh, what on earth are you smoking?
Both Castle Wolfenbach and Gollum in one post?
Would you like some? :3
... I'm not sure I would survive the experience. :-/
I'd like to apologize to all the players of MGM for my lateness on my next post - some explanation is perhaps in order.
I've been working full time and going to college. My work keeps me there until 8:30pm, and I wake up at 8:00am for class, so, not a lot of spare time there.
In addition to this, I've suddenly been faced with a conundrum as to how I'm going to resolve several peoples character's actions and situations, after having unexpected absences. I have a general idea of what I'm going to do, but writing involves a very specific how, and that's the part that depends on me not being creatively drained.
The RP is not on Haitus - school ends this weeks, so I'm hoping to actually get some writing done this weekend, but we'll see. Thanks all you guys for your patience, and your participation - I hope it's been half as fun playing as it has been writing this thing. :3
Short story: RAID array collapsed and PSU died over holidays. Encrypted drive failed that included certain backed up files. Repaired PC, recovered encrypted data, and upgraded to Win7 x64.
Too bad in some respects, as I was having fun using a server as a desktop.
I should be back in action, though work is pretty busy... what with a few server build outs and UPS replacements (old units aren't hot swappable sad).
Hoorayz! We can has Azlan post.
I shall work on the next one just shortly.
wow... i'm curious... What happened here? did we all just abandon the ball? D:
So, first MGM post in a long while.
I suppose I should ask, firstly, who's still interested in playing this. I wrote myself into a corner in some places, lost inspiration, lost my job, got busy finding a job, got really poor, got busy looking for ramen noodles, was too distracted to write a sentence, let alone a post, and now further things in my life have just happened that have somewhat made me take a look at how my life is going.
And now, maybe for a while, maybe for just tonight, I've come full circle. I'm writing to relieve stress.
If anyone still wants to participate, please post to let me know. I also know I've left several characters out of the most recent post, and this is on purpose - I'm trying to get the people who are behind on things caught up. And to make posts easier to write, I might trade off writing certain groups every other post. I don't know. We'll see how it works out.
Anyhow, despite my whining, this has been a lot of fun for me, and if anyone's still up for it, I'm also up for continuing.
Oh...I'm still in. But if you're having such RL troubles, I can understand if you want or need to leave this RP down, at least for awhile. But, if you're continuing just to relieve stress, then I can stay on, too.
I'm still in; I can certainly understand about RL issues, and I'm sure many of us would agree that such things come first. Whatever happens, the best of us would be behind you. :3
Still here. Still interested.

I'm still in.
I'm around, though you probably already knew that by now :B
I am still here. Slow to respond, but still here.
Well, that seems to be most everyone then.
I'll continue on posting for those who've indicated that they want to stay in, which does appear to be about everyone who was still playing. A bit of a smaller group, a bit easier to manage, but we'll find out.
Sorry for not responding sooner, had a few RL issues to deal with. I woud like to continue in this rp if I may. I'll put up a post asap.

Question.
How _large_ is this ball that Rover has been taunted with?
Large enough that a normal-sized person would have to hold it in two hands, but Rover could probably palm the thing, I imagine. Think like one of those giant exercise balls that some people use.
Ah, right. About 2ft across, in other words.
mmkay. I can work with that.

Hope to get posts done in everything that is owed first, but if not, i'll do my best in the evenings.
Just waiting on Box and Tech, now - I might have them catch up later, though.
Have fun! I'm sure that you won't miss too much, this RP tends to move at a rate comparable to continental drift.
Right, sorry--been trying to think of a post >_< I'll have one up tomorrow, promise
I've been afk. So sorry. I'll see what I can come up with, though.
So, I know I've already called for interest just a little bit ago, but I'd like to do so again. Thinking about implementing some things in the future, so if everyone would be so kind as to post here if they'd like to continue with the RP, I'd appreciate it.
i just posted... i think my continued participation is pretty well confirmed X3
I would say mine as well... the PMs and all express a level of interest I'm pretty sure.
Still here and sticky-taping a post together.
Still alive and kicking. x3 Gonna try to help Gareeku keep up too.

I'm thinking that I may put Gar on haitus, as he's already been gone for so long. It seems like he's pretty busy nowadays, and if he isn't able to post, I'll probably have his character move offscreen until he can post or wants to.

Alright; might be best.
I'm still interested Cog.
*flops on the floor, sort of deadish, indicating interest*
Doing my best, though.
Right. So far I have:
1: Mel (playing Melodie Icewing)
2: Boogeyman (Playing Jeremiah Ac'Gregor)
3: Aisha (Playing Rynkura)
4: Azlan (playing Kiet Ti'Pallo
5: Spottedkitty (playing Andrace)
6: TechmasterGlitch (playing Karazkt)
7: Basilisk (playing Baseel)
If anyone who was playing still wants to, that's fine, but I'm going to go ahead and assume that there is some extenuating circumstance. Just talk to me, PM me, whatevs, hell, just post, and that's entirely fine. But this is what I've got down right now as active players.
So! I'm opening the RP back up. Get some fresh blood in here, see if that will help. Two slots are open right now, more if you can convince me when they're full.
Character Sheet:
Name: Corgatha Taldorthar
Race: Human?
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Physical Description: Six foot three inches tall, around 220 lbs. Dull gray eyes, black hair, skin color is a diseased grayish tone. Skin is littered with scars, pockmarks, and tattoos, and generally keeps himself bundled up in all sorts of weather, from neck to toes to wrists. Currently wearing a jet black overcoat, dull green shirt, brown roughspun leggings, and soft, knee high boots.
Equipment: Obsidian two handed sword. It is "treated" magically to prevent the shattering that ordinary obsidian is vulnerable to. It's not invulnerable, but it's about as durable as tempered, high quality steel, and significantly sharper. Due to it's composition, it is lighter than a sword of its size would appear, being slightly over 1.7 pounds.
2 obsidian knives, treated similarly to his sword.
He also carries half a dozen fist sized rocks, attached to his belt, and a pouch full of gravel, for magical usage. (In addition, he has things like clothes, a bit of money, etc.)
Combat Abilities: Has little in the way of physical combat training, although is large enough and strong enough to prove dangerous to opponents who do not have some sort of augmented strength or endurance. Is quite magically proficient, especially in areas of elementally Earth aligned magics, although possesses some skill in manipulating fire and telekinesis as well. His magic is instinctive and quasi innate, not something gained through years of study, and often cannot tell exactly how he does something after he's done it, although telekinesis and stonework do often stick in his memory. Typically favors using his magic to move himself to somewhere not easily reached by enemies, and then pelt them with whatever objects are lying around, or lighting them on fire. Falls back on physical combat only when too exhausted to use magic further or when supremely confident of success.
History: Born on a small farm in the hinterlands of civilization, Corgatha was working the fields shortly after his sixteenth birthday, when he suddenly started having visions that the boundary stones he was removing to make room for another crop row were speaking to him, giving him secrets of old. He stripped off his clothes and ran off into the wilderness. He surfaced around fifty five years later, (with clothes), having visibly aged little, although sporting a new skin tone and scars and tattoos that covered almost his entire body, and no conscious memory of the intervening period, except scattered images of being chased. Upon regaining some measure of his faculties, he utilized his theurgic abilities, especially over stone, challenging some lesser creatures to fights and winning some of the time, as well as commanding a few loose bands of armsmen, often to some success. Currently, he's running alone, in a forest, brooding and stalking intruders who irritate him with their presence.
Personality:Violently unstable. Much of Corgatha's mind has simply been eaten away by by his power. Obsesses over "eternals" things that won't change with time (Ideas, mathematics, stone, things like that) Grows very agitated when something transient (Say, a person) impinges upon them. Generally irritable, and unsociable in general, although reasonably good when "sticking to business". Never relaxes, rarely sleeps, Prefers to think his way around problems, instead of solving them with raw force, doesn't like making rushed decisions. Protective of his friends and dependents, unless he forgets about them, and he's apt to forget about transient things, like people.
Strengths: Cunning, careful, extraordinarily gifted at mathematics. Eldritch magical power that is activated more by instinct than artifice.
Weaknesses: Easily angered, very poor grasp of social interaction. Has old injuries, especially around the legs and hips that make it hard for him to move quickly. (gained during his blank period) Has a twin insanity, both from direct warping of his mind from his ability (causes occasional hallucinations), as well as paranoid tendencies from his years on the run with no memory.
Trivia: Corgatha was originally created for a wheel of time setting, and maintains a similar level of power (and insanity) of a channeler from that setting.
Some odd aspect of Corgatha's power seems to make him age more slowly. He's close to eighty five, but he looks to be in his late twenties, discounting his injuries.
i just found out you were opening back up but it seems i've missed my chance to rejoin no?
Spots - Cerebus was trying to say that you should run away right then, before you get lynched by the soon-to-be-angry mob.
I also realize this last round of posting was probably incoherent and terrible, and I do apologize about that.
Also, obviously, Corg's intro was in this last post, if it wasn't obvious.
oh, hey, sorry. Been busy settling in after the move to grad school. Haven't kept up, and too tired to make a post now. I'll put something together tomorrow evening.
hey, Cog... the guy with the bacon. Can Bas smell the bacon and whatnot? Can he sense anything that's going on on the other side of the doorway?
Well nothing smells like bacon but bacon...
Ok, maybe I wasn't *that* tired.

He can.
It is
delicious bacon.
And yes, he can see everything going on on the other side. :3

Whups — OK, I'll work on an edit.
Oh yeah, and it's actually a temperate forest you're in right now, Corg. Much as I do like the serenity of an arctic environment.
My apologies, I thought it was a temperate forest, but during the winter time. What's the policy on editing, since Techmaster has already posted?
I imagine that Tech's post doesn't really touch on yours, so go right ahead.
OK, Andrace's last post here (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,4834.msg336539.html#msg336539) edited. Hope this is better, Cog.
Got a mod to unlock this.
Whoa! Are we really back in action, cog? :O Wonder how many peopel are still around...and while I suspect it's the point, I'm quite confused as to the most recent post. xD So, did everyone in the game suddenly get teleported to a snowbank or something?
EDIT: wait a minute....oooh, I think I see what's going on. All our characters were 'dreaming', were they? And now we're back to 'reality' (as in, directly after the original Ball), or the current reality as subjective as such a thing is in a game like this?
Yes, it was a dream. It was a terrible idea. I have ended that.
Everyone is outside the original castle, in the gardens in the southwest corner of the grounds. It appears that it was turned into a graveyard.
Are new characters still being accepted?
Indeed! If you'd like to submit something, PM me with the idea and we'll see how it goes.
Whomever wakes up are those that still wish to continue is the gist of it, yes?

Something of that nature, yes.
I am in, and do want to continue, but the internet connection is a bit spotty and will likely remain so for several days. Going to try to get a post up now though.
Meet Tinti, the Mit'Delir.
Name: Tinti
Race: Delir*
Gender: Female
Species: Mit
Physical Description: With fair skin, a narrow jaw and high cheekbones, Tinti is what many Delir would call the perfect woman. Her brown eyes flash from piercing to soft and back again within moments, unrestricted by the dark brown hair she keeps wrapped in a tight bun, held together by a thin yet durable metal rod. The neon green markings on her face create the appearance of two almondswith a single dot in the center, one on each side, pointing towards the corner of the eye. A small filigree adorns her brow, matching a larger version scrawled across her bosom. A thin line extends down her neck and back, ending at the tailbone. More lines branch off, outlining the occasional rib and tracing from shoulder to palm and hip to ankle, ending in a short spiral. More filigree circles the navel and extends outwards, one point reaching the solar plexus. These marks accentuate Tinti's lithe form and fluid stride. Often she will dress in a blue velvet top with a hole to reveal the bosom ((take this (http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2010/125/2/e/Mass_Effect__Asari_by_Arr0y.jpg) style, then open the hole upwards and have it hold together with a high neck, if that helps)) and a sarong of the same blue, only shimmering.
Combat Abilities: Tinti is able to perform many "parlor tricks" inherent to the Mit'Delir, such as moving small objects, creating small lights that can move at her discretion, or creating small noises, as well as some basic elemental ball spells. In addition, she has trained with the Cor'Delir and learned to defend herself in close-quarters combat, both with and without her natural talents. Beyond these talents, she also has earned decent control over the elements of her realm (Fire, Lightning, Life, Land, and Aether) such that, among other things, she may create golems. These can be small golems that last for hours or even days, large golems that last for minutes at best, and anything in between.
History: As a Mit'Delir, and heir to a House closely allied with the King's, Tinti was raised to be a diplomat. Her training ranged from self-defense to economics to socialization. Her mother, the Lady Cromwald, was careful to take an active hand in Tinti's upbringing so that she could quash any unwanted developments of character. In time, Tinti developed an interest in the family's forgery business, learning the procedures to create many different types of armory, weaponry, and cookware.
Trivia: Tinti made the metal rod holding her bun together.
She's been seen occasionally exploring outside of Phristan for relics.
In addition to forgery, she has also taken up tarot as a hobby.
Though it may not appear as though her clothes have any pockets, it is not uncommon for her to have a tarot deck, a rod of amber, and a recording stone available with a snap of her fingers.
*The Delir look much like humans, save for their markings. These markings consist of lines and dots one to two millimeters across and can take any shape, though filigrees and stripes are the most common.
The Delir are one of the few surviving races in the Aetherian Sea. Based out of Phristan, the remains of a floating isle after the Shattering, they are separated into three classes: the Mit, the Cor, and the Phin, referred to as the Mit'Delir, the Cor'Delir, and the Phin'Delir, respectively. The Mit'Delir have a natural aptitude towards the magical arts, often building or maintaining Phristan. They are denoted by neon green markings upon their face and body, and have light skin. The Cor'Delir are known for their prowess in the ring, and as such are usually found sparring and training to become the ultimate warriors. They are identified by their electric blue markings and middling skin color. Finally, the Phin'Delir have an endless spirit for adventure, frequently leaving the confines of Phristan and exploring the Aetherian Sea for relics from before the Shattering. They can be easily spotted thanks to their dark skin and fiery red markings.
In Deliran culture, the Mit'Delir are the aristocracy, while the Cor'Delir provide might or labor, depending on the state of the kingdom, and the Phin'Delir perform much of the research. Relationships between the different classes is frowned upon, though that's not to say that they don't ever mingle.
So, maybe it's just me, but I'm having a bit of trouble deciphering the GM posts I've seen so far. Can we perceive the entire post, or if not, what can we perceive?
There we go. Azlan's got the right idea.
It's the fabled Castle Perilous folks. No one is up for a little swords and sorcery?
Perhaps my DM'ing style isn't suited here. Should I auto people's characters more, to advance the story? I generally present a set of circumstances, and wait for a reaction, and then show consequences from there, but if that's not working I'm up for suggestions.
Additionally for those who are confused as to what's going on, here is what the party is generally aware of
1: There is a Castle, the one the ball was in. It's in front of you. It's dark outside, and snowing, and you woke in graves outside of it. Red flowers are blooming in great quantities, growing ever thicker the closer one comes to the castle itself.
2: It's cloudy, the full moon can be seen through the cracks in the clouds, and firelight is reflecting off the clouds, indicating that a lot of something is on fire.
3: A gryphon dumped snow on you all.
4: There is a well-dressed wolf with a sword approaching you. I think everyone got bored with some of the exposition your party wasn't aware of and skipped this. That's fine, not your fault. But if nobody says anything I'll assume you critically failed your spot check and proceed from there.
3: *EDIT* This three was misplaced, and he misses his parents, 1 and 2, and feels out of place with his older brother, 4. It's very sad.
It took a while to get to posting as the replies to your post were a little confusing...
"Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out."
Edit: slight addition to the RP post as I just now noticed the minion surge forward bit had not made it into the post.
Apologies, but my...what is it people say, 'muse' to play Karazkt has dried up. :B So, I guess I'm withdrawing from this RP, just letting you know rather than leaving ambiguous silence behind (I know -I- hate that. :x )
Was a good run, though. I had fun. :)
My apologies. I had to edit my post following a mis-read of Cogidubnus's post. It should fit in with the narrative better now.
I think we can officially call overkill on the poor wolf. >.>

Melodie of House Icewing
Melodie finished the casting the binding spell, and as the white light settled onto his immobile form to keep him that way, she turned to finish berating Azlan for shooting first and asking questions later.
Berating who now? Azlan certainly has a lot of cameos in this RP :P
QuoteTinti's healing goldem did good work. The wolf moved from stillness, gurgled something, and grabbed at Baseel's neck, trying to pull himself up. He gurgled again, blood dripping from his mouth, pulling while he tried to speak. "Help..."
Er... Last I remember, I was fixing up Corgatha...
Quote... she ran to the fallen man after seeing the wolf under the ministrations of the shirtless demon. Mixing Life with some Land for guidance, she formed a healing golem and allowed it to do its job on the poor fellow.

Ah. The way that was worded, it seemed like you were healing the wolf, as Corgatha wasn't really injured very visibly. I will fix.
*edit - all of the errors reported so far have been fixed.
