When my nose is all runny and I have work to do, I just ball up tissue or toilet paper and ram it right on up into the sinuses!

Course, it only holds out for about 15 minutes or so, but I can still get some lab work done between stuffings!   :3

*Charles is a madman who will work no matter what, because he has OCD.  The End.  The End....  The End... did I write 'The End'?  Better do it again... THE END.  I think I did it... maybe I didn't... I'd better be sure...  THE END... END.... The... The End...*

Yeah, I just got over a really bad summer cold. Urgh, didn't get any sleep for three days. I hope you feel better soon, Amber!

I'm sure all the wonderful people from across the country brought you at least one new bad bug just for you. >:3
Hope you aren't out of commission too much longer. It must suck to get sick.

My luck there would finally be something there that could give me something worse then a sniffle.
That is if I ever went anywhere.

"I don't take illegal drugs anymore, I just take the legal ones. Nyquil, nyquil, nyquil - big N, little y, giant f'ing Q! 'Are you ok?' 'No, I have a cold. Same cold I've had for three years, just can't seem to shake it. I'm high as a kite and my teeth are bright green, but I feel FIIIIINE!'"

I hope that you don't have what I had all last week (my vacation week no less) Amber.  Started on monday and didn't quit until yesterday. :(  It even got so bad that the pressure caused me to lose hearing in my right ear.   :mowdizzy

On another note: Bweehehe.  Dennis Leary rocks.

Hot milk and honey.

Orange juice and/or some other source of vitamin C.

Trust me, if someone is sick around here, it is considered silly to not follow those steps.

Hot milk and honey.

Really? How exactly do you take the hot milk and honey? Together, or separately?

Heat up the milk in a microwave.
Stir a spoonful of preferably thick high quality crystallised honey around in the cup of hot milk until it dissolves.
Delicious.

Hm. Next time I'm down with a cold, I'll try that out. And I know I already said it yesterday, but I hope you feel better Amber!

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Echinacea.  If that doesn't work, then try tea made from the leaves of dried stinging nettle plants, that does help open up the sinuses.

I just stick kleenix up my nose and breathe through my mouth. Doesn't do anything to fight the disease, but it deals with the symptoms that I can't muscle past, and I've found acting as though I'm not sick enables a speedy recovery more than anything.

Hot showers might work. Those help me feel better for most things, and I think I've read that steam helps to clear up the sinuses.

There's nothing you can do that will make a cold go away any faster.  The best anyone can do is reduce the symptoms and avoid things that make for slow recovery; just get plenty of rest, eat lots of hot food, avoid stress, and let your body kick some common cold buttock.

While I tend to agree with the above, easing the symptoms is not such a bad thing...

Amber seems to catch every bug that passes by. A guy in San Diego thinks about sneezing, Amber gets the blargh.

As mentioned in the AC threads, send her to apprentice in a hospital for a couple months. she'll come out either dead or invincible.  :mwaha

In the horribly unlikely event that it's the former, let's not chance it, okay?

It would only be mostly dead. Mostly dead is still slightly alive.
Title: Re: STOOPID NOBE
Post by: Jairus on July 08, 2008, 12:07:24 PM
Yeah, but could Amber still do DMFA if she was mostly dead?
Title: Re: STOOPID NOBE
Post by: llearch n'n'daCorna on July 08, 2008, 01:21:44 PM
If she was all dead, there would be only one thing we could do - go through her pockets and look for loose change. But mostly dead, means still partly alive. So all we got to do is ask her why she's still alive.

*Listens to Amber's delirious half-dead mumblings* True love? To blave? Curse Amber's inability to properly enunciate when she's lying mostly dead at her drawing table!

*surreptitiously checks Amber's pockets* Ooh, a loonie!

Incidentally, if you're reading this Amber, how are you doing?

When I feel I'm coming down with a cold or whatever, I start with several vitamin A to kick-start the immune system into fighting, as well as taking zinc and garlic tablets daily. Or when cooking, go crazy with the garlic. I've seen an article about eating garlic soup when sick. The ancient Romans believed that onions and garlic made them strong and healthy.

I don't know about strong or healthy but they help make you stink that's for sure.
Incidentally I like garlic, a lot :dotdotdot

Getting a cold is bad. I know, but try getting sick, getting someone else sick unintentionally, feeling better, then getting sick because the sickness you spread to the other person worked it's way back to you. Eventually your body harmonizes with the sickness like some weird sybiotic relationship, so you live through it, with the only side effects being occasionally fits of coughing and a gradually weakened immune system whereas the sickness rises above its dependency and will eventually tear you down when you become old...

Works... Honest it do...

Of course, they thought it was effective because it was pungent... effectiveness aside, I just think it's tasty. :3
