Simple enough, just post the song you are currently listening to that you think everyone else should listen to. 'Tis a good way to discover new music.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, by Bill Flores, from Pickin' on Pink Floyd.
Played by an assembly of banjo, acoustic guitar and, I think, a violin, played pizzicato. It's .... oddly addictive. :-] I'm just waiting for Comfortably Numb.
This persuaded me to dig out Hangin' Tuff by "New Kids on the Bog", a grotesque Southern arrangement of a song best forgotten in the first place.
It is however the only recording in my entire collection to boast a solo on blender.
I found it on the TapeOp bbs a few years ago, alongside a fake death-metal song where the growling, raspy vocals are actually a bear sampled off some wildlife documentary.

Threshold- Elusive (Dead Reckoning)
Yes, I finally got this album! Sadly, this is the only one I could find in stores up here in Michigan... :<
Anyways, this is definitely heavier for this band, and it sounds ALOT like Dream Theater, especially since the new guitarist sounds close to John Petrucci from that band. I guess I have to scour Amazon for the rest. Probably getting Critical Mass next, for sure! :3
Edit: Okay, what would suggest I get as first album, Bill? The new one? You seem to be enjoying it enough! :giggle
No, you're getting something by Porcupine Tree next. :B DO IT.

[Goes to wikipedia] They've made... a concept album? That's new :erk

Currently The Dresden Dolls - Mrs O
Evan Olson - So Much Better
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt 2 / Scenes From A Memory
Like everything else I've heard from DT so far it has some good bits but is mostly dross. On the whole I don't really think it's a good followup to Metropolis Pt 1, and it's damn depressing to boot :(
The first half of 'Beyond This Life' is good, also 'Home', but the rest of it hasn't really grabbed me, at least, not yet...
I never figured why Met II is the most popular DT album. Can't stand that one. Home and the Overture are the only good songs on that. Six Degrees and especially Awake are MUCH superior to that album.
By-Tor and the Snow Dog- Rush (Fly By Night)
The first half of this can work in any EPIC battle scene. It just does. ;)
As for Metropolis Part II, I believe that this album is one that gets better with each listen, at least for me. The big problem is, is that only a few songs, like Beyond This Life, Dance of Eternity, and few others stand on their own as songs without the concept. This is a great ALBUM, but some songs, like Through My Words or One Last Time, really can't be separated from the concept to listen to casually, and that irks me.
IMHO, the live version is much better, as heard on Live Scenes From New York (which also includes Metropolis Part I and a sweet arse keyboard solo). Ironically, the DVD of the concert was the first time I heard this album, and the commentary sorta explained the entire concept to me, so I might be a little bias. :3
Ooh La La, by Goldfrapp.
~Keaton the Black Jackal
Dream Theater - Awake - Lifting Shadows...
Dragonforce - "Dawn Over A New World"
I've been listening to it for about an hour. I know that some people are divided over Dragonforce, but this one's very evocative for me.
Dream Theater - Fatal Tragedy
(Metropolis 2 is starting to grow on me)
Rush- The Pass (Presto)
Apparantly the only good song on this album for some people... :P
Coldplay - Clocks

That's the only one I have off Presto, I think. (On 'Chronicles') I rather liked it.
More Dream Theater for me.
I remember the first time she came to me
Poured her soul out all night and cried
I remember I was told there's a new love that's born
For each one that has diedI'm going to have to get a bandpass filter because that's a cool effect :3
Actually, the only version I have with me is from the Different Stages Live album.
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia - Trains
Trains set and match spied under the blinds,
Shiny and contoured, the railway winds...
Threshold- Innocent (Psychedelicatessen)
This is definitely a rock anthem, but it's a really good one!
Let's see, I'll list my favorites, just to spite you. :P
Show Don't Tell
Chain Lightning (Barring the "that's nice" line at the end, which was extremely cheesy)
The Pass
Scars
Red Tide
Hand Over Fist
Available Light
I admit Anagram was little fillerish, but so was most of the second side of 2112 (at least on first hearing) and Permanent Waves (tell me Entre Nous wasn't filler, I dare ya).
Not only was Entre Nous filler, it was utter crap. :U
Still one of my fave Rush albums, though.
Porcupine Tree - Stars Die (compilation) - Radioactive Toy

QuoteI admit Anagram was little fillerish, but so was most of the second side of 2112 (at least on first hearing) and Permanent Waves (tell me Entre Nous wasn't filler, I dare ya).
I'm afraid I must agree with Bill about Entre Nous - I thought it sucked. Truth be told I wasn't over-impressed with Permanent Waves. 'Jacob's Ladder' more than makes up for the bad tracks in my opinion though. It's my absolute favourite Rush song.
As for 2112, I liked most of the second side. 'Something for nothing' was my favourite on the entire album.
Gorrilaz - Hongkongaton
Talking Heads / The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads [Expanded] Disc 2 / Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)
Nightcore - Dam Dadi Doo
Dream Theater- Metropolis Part I: The Miracle And The Sleeper (Images and Words)
Everytime this song comes up on my playlists (usually random), I always let out a barely audible "YESSS!!!". Tells you how much I love this song. Best on I&W, period.

Good song there. I just got this album too! :boogie
Favorites are:
Sunseeker (That little organ thing at end reminded me of your work for some reason...)
Tension of Souls ("The right to live, the right to...etc." Awesome.)
Into the Light (This is the one with the studio tricks right? Pretty decent.)
Will To Give (Very energetic. Awesome.)
Under The Sun (Great piano work here.)
Innocent (Like said, great rock anthem. Glyn does a great job here on vocals)
Devoted (The screaming in the background was kinda creepy, but the song was an
excellent closer.)
7 out of 9 ain't bad. The other two have to grow on me though.

Like I said, first listen to the second side of 2112 sounded fillerish to me, but A Passage to Bangkok, Lessons, Tears and Something for Nothing are some of my favorite tracks from Rush now.
As for Permanent Waves, the first side was excellent, Entre Nous is boring, Different Strings is too short, but Natural Science is excellent (of course, I heard it first on Rush In Rio, so I'm a little bias. That version was awesome!).
Geez, there I go, ranting about music again... :B
Trust Company - Stronger

~Keaton the Black Jackal
Good song, innit?
Red Hot Chilli Peppers / Greatest Hits / Scar Tissue
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos!!1!11! - In the Presence of Enemies Pt. 1
Done with Systematic Chaos.
This is a very good effort overall, and there are no real weak points on this. However, unlike the past 3 releases, there's no real amazing track, either. Ministry of Lost Souls (awesome track name) comes close, but everything else just seems above-average. And ITPOE ends on a hell of an anti-climax.
Listening to... Um, same thing actually!
Come on, The Dark Eternal Night kicked ass, right? Best song besides ITPOE IMHO. Well at least I thought so. :3
The Strokes / First Impressions of Earth / Ask Me Anything
Reminds me of They Might be Giants.

'Touch And Go' is the signature track from this one, but 'The Score' is also good, and their rendition of Holst's Mars, Bringer of War is absolutely awesome and gives Tomita's version a good run for its money.
"Symphony no. 9," by Ludwig van Beethoven
~Keaton the Black Jackal
Well let's see my list consists of Papa Roach's newest CD's, Judas Priest, Flogging Molly, NickelBack, Three Days Grace and various other bands.
Lots and lots of Talking Heads. :cool Warning Sign, at the moment.

My copy is taken from my father's LP which he bought shortly before it was banned. I think it's available again now though.
Yes- Mind Drive (Keystudio)
This song is the closest to an old-school style Yes epic. Actually, the whole album reeks of it, since the most of the old group came back during the mid-90's. I haven't listened to this group in a while, I admit. Still a great a prog group though, and I was glad to catch them on their 35th anniversary tour. Don't know if they'll come back or not, though... :<
I Shot the Sheriff - The Cream of Clapton - Eric Clapton

Aww, I didn't know you had to pay for the CD. But it comes with all that other sweet stuff, so it's probably worth it. I suppose I could download it, but even from the site, it's only at 160 kbps. :/

I would also like to know what the new thing is like, but I'm caught between not wanting to download it for nothing, and not wanting to pay them if it's as bad as 'Kid A' (at which point I stopped listening to them). I may ask my brother if he's still into them.
Basically, from my narrow perspective, they released 'Pablo Honey' which had a couple of good tracks on it (e.g. "You"). Then they released 'The Bends' which had even more good tracks on it ("Street Spirit", "Planet Telex" etc). Then they released 'OK Computer' which was fantastic - especially for people who are/were into prog-rock ("Lucky" is probably my favourite track).
After that they released 'Kid A' which was totally different and a massive step backwards in my opinion. After that I gave up on them :B

If anything, you could download the album for free and use it as a 'test drive'. Knowing you, you probably wouldn't care for the bitrate, anyway. If you do like it, you could shell out for the discbox, or wait until it's released in stores (if it will be).

This ivory leg is what propels me,
Harpoons thrust in the sky!
Aim directly at his crooked brow
And look him straight in the eye!
White whale - Holy Grail!
White whale - Holy Grail!
