Well. I guess we know a little bit more about what, exactly, the consequences of the 'library incident' were, now don't we...

What... the... frig?!

Well, apparently she is still just as scary in PINK as she is in other colors. Of course, she might just change her colors to match her mood... and she was feeling a bit dark when the wallpaper was made.

Me.  I did.  :P

EDIT: I find it amusing that Mink responds with spoken words to being told through thought not to talk so much....

I seem to recall something about Oolong being a mythos, though from this clearer/brighter imagery than the wallpaper (http://www.missmab.com/DLoads/DMFA_Wallpaper28_1024.jpg), I'd say mythos-succubus.

No, no. Just mythos.

What, you didn't think Mythos could change their colours? Pfft. Shapechanging isn't exclusive to 'Cubi, just like eating souls isn't exclusive to 'Cubi. They're just the "usual suspects"...

... My opinion, of course, based on what I've seen Amber say. YMMV, and usually does...

Ohsweetjesu. This just makes the Librarian's current form even more terrifying. I wonder if her body extends throughout the entire library, or just the main part. Does anyone else wonder what her collar signifies?

Who knows.  For some reason I find the fact that she's so precisely adopted Fa'Lina's colours and dress sense to be rather interesting.  Of course, Fa'Lina is supposedly very much a trend-setter so there's probably (hopefully) nothing more to it.

I'll bet she's a theme shifter, and probably bases her current appearance on what she's reading lately, she is the librarian after all. Also I've never seen that wallpaper before, that is a most awesome looking library. For some reason, I prefer a library to be fantastical rather than science fiction, cause this computer with its connection to the internet is basically the science fiction version of a library. I guess people don't disobey shooshings from THIS librarian.

This is just a wacky thought, but maybe her colour changes depending on how much light is shining on her? The wallpaper pic has a darkened setting after all. I dunno, just a random thought.

I have a second theroy. she may have only two forms a day form and a night form. In the wallpaper the windows at the top of the library are dark, and there are lamps lit in the lybrary. In the comic everything is brightly lit even though you don't see lamps. I'm guesssing the library is mainly lit by natural light in the day and is a wonderful place to visit, but once the sun starts setting most of the students will be in a rush to check out before things get dark

Technically, I think Amber said she _was_ the building. Pillar, columns, tentacles, head, and body, it's all her.

She IS the library. I remember Amber saying that Oolong's type of mythos incorporates itself into a building, essential forming a living piece of architecture. The body we see in the pillar is more like a terminal to interact with her, rather than being any significant part of her body.

That would be an impression, and guesswork, not a statement of fact. The only person who can state facts is Amber, or anyone linking to her saying something. All else is merely opinion...

In other words, that was my impression, and I'm happy if someone can educate me as to my errors.

Times like this I think I'm reminded why I always enjoy a good book:  Sexy librarians.

I had joked previously with Amber after the strip with naked Dan and she commented that there's going to need to be some fan service for the guys to make up for that:  I consider this a good start. ;-)

There, now that the creepy is out of the way... I have to say I'm not sure that Mink is stopping because it seems to be a voice in his head (I don't know if this mythos is a telepath or not, and don't care to speculate) but more that she's the librarian and thus in charge of the library.  Most folks tend to respect that and be silent when told to.  (Yes yes, there are always jerks who don't, I know, keep your counter examples to yourself).  Toss on the unquestionable fact that she happens to essentially 'be' the library, entwined even with the foundations of the building itself it would seem wise not to irk it.

Slight amount of seriousness aside and slight amount of creepy added back in, despite being entwined with the building she also seems to have an awful lot of tentacles and that alone would encourage me to stay on her good side, lest those be used on me in less than pleasant ways.  Sure, Cubi have tentacles too and great control of them.. but I'd dare say she has more.. and much larger ones.

Scary isn't the word for this. I would say it's more along the lines of creepy and shocking. That bunny head takes the concentration off of the fact that she is reputed to be very scary as shown on these links: (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_579.php), (http://missmab.com/Comics/WW06_025.php) and (http://missmab.com/DLoads/DMFA_Wallpaper28_1600.jpg).

Interesting, it seems her body can somewhat pull away from the column. In her wallpaper the wings are coming from the pillar (As are her arms with the elbow joints merged) but here they're clearly attached to her back and she's leant forward. So it must be a wierd mergey thing where she can willfully move how much of it that part of her is in and not. Her clothes are the same though it's just the colour theme thats drastically changed. It's an ever so minor thing but insanely cool.

She didn't have lippy back then though, guess she had a moment of feminine conscious that needed sorting! :D

Maybe it's the "oversize" shelf.  A lot of libraries have shelves for books that are too big to fit on the regular shelves.  For example, many atlases and art books are very large.  In fact, I have heard some of these referred to as "cocktail table" books because they take up the entire table.

Many libraries also have bsrs going over the top so that they are harder to topple.  The bars are then anchored to each of the bookcases.  In fact, I believe that it's required by law in California because the earthquakes would otherwise topple the bookcases and cause severe injury.  (Another approach is to fasten them to the ceiling or wall with chains.)

If you've ever rubbed a rod with fur, you'll know that it could be shocking.

I suspect that this is a part of the answer to the question of just what Oolong eats, that and her overdue fees cost an arm and a leg (literally), and you really don't want to know what happens to people who loose or damage books.

Oolong has been there, like, forever?
In a library. Where everything has to be quiet. Of course she takes her task seriously, but shouldn't she loosen up sometimes?

I wouldn't surprised if the library was occasionally used as a party location.
Or at least a meeting place for a local debating society!

If you'll pardon me charging into this line of thought, I just can't sit static while such discussion occurs. I just have no resistance. It polarizes me. Not to sound negative but but it is a conduit for me to speak out, a lightning rod topic if you will! Maybe the 'No Abel' sign is because Abel got really bored a few centuries from now and painted the entire library black. :B

I didn't know she was a genius locii. I always thought she was sorta a succubus that for whatever reason had stretched herself to fill the myriad tunnels and passages beneath the walls. :B

I was going to use the phrase Genuis Locii, but I didn't think anyone would know what it meant. Huzzah!
You mean there are people who DON'T spend hours reading TVTropes in their spare time?

I was on an IRC channel, wondering what happened to make her mood go bad and black later on, someone commented "Mink didn't shut up" as possibility. I guess that sure would drive me evil.

For that type of information, I go to Wikipedia.

I was waiting for Oolong to show up anywhere outside the wallpaper! :boogie
Interesting color change - I wonder why or how frequently she changes them.
Maybe it's like a mood ring! It changes with emotions.

Could also be the library is huge and her appearance varies according to the books housed in a particular wing.

Alternate possibility is her appearance changes based on the viewer. Maybe the wallpaper version is the Librarian viewed through Dan's eyes.

I just noticed that in the wallpaper (http://www.missmab.com/DLoads/DMFA_Wallpaper28_1024.jpg), the feather on her desk looks like Abel's.

Wallpaper librarian looks scary and frightening.  DMFA librarian looks kind.  Why the huge difference?

My speculation: The wallpaper is the library as decorated for a Halloween (or Furrae equivalent) party!

It does! I never noticed that. Nice catch. Wonder if she obtained it during the event that banned Abel from the library.

If you've ever rubbed a rod with fur, you'll know that it could be shocking.

If you'll pardon me charging into this line of thought, I just can't sit static while such discussion occurs. I just have no resistance. It polarizes me. Not to sound negative but but it is a conduit for me to speak out, a lightning rod topic if you will! Now sure, we can cycle through current discussions till it hurts but I'd rather conduct fresh statements in some capacity. I think we can all get on that bus, yes?

And that's all I've got folks.

Why is everyone saying she's scary? She looks like a mature caretaker when talking to Mink.  And she's particularly cute. The only 'scary' thing I can make out is the raptor claws, and those could just be for style.

Why does everyone dodge the obivious and go for the farfetched? It's most likely that the color change isn't mood, style impulse, or the such, but simply... trauma. Something happened that seriously messed her up, and she became a creepy, bitter/evil person. Maybe a magic fail by Abel that almost killed her? Definitely would add a lot more on Abel's list of reasons to be emo, along with a reason for her to suddenly adopt Destiana (sp, I forgot..)'s way of thinking, but without the maternal instincts Destiana seemed to have...

Unbearably logical Aspie to ruin the day again~  >:3

My favorite thing about this page is that Oolong is using telepathy to avoid talking in the library. Heehee. Abel probably got a kick out of that when he found out. Though it does make me fear what could have happened to ban Abel (a LIBRARIAN, guys) from the SAIA library...

In a school full of 'Cubi, would a loudly "stated" thought be any less disruptive than speaking?

If it can be restricted to a single person, rather than broadcast, yes.

Y'know, I'd forgotten that Abel worked as a librarian. Most librarians have an insane love of books, so I'm guessing he probably didn't do any damage to them.... I'm guessing his ban has something to do with Miss Oolong's color change. >.> But then, that's just me. :D

Rather than the librarian being a mood ring has anyone suggested she could have she just got bored with her old colour?

Either that or  Fa'lina came in and said "Well, one of us is going to have to change"
