So. A new comic.
...I like Devin. I've said it before and I'll say it again. What a colossal jerk! Also, Abel has the best expressions ever in this comic! :)
Also, I'm liking ...Xander(?) He's so... disinterested.
Yeah, just need a t-shirt image similiar to HERE (http://www.sheezyart.com/view/656570/) but with Abel in it instead now.
Heh. Devin's expression on the last panel kicks ass. He just needs a cigarette, and it's perfect.

Devin is an idiot for making an enemy he doesn't have to make.
Sooner or later dumb things like this have a way of coming back to you.
In the future Abel might not warn Devin about that giant trapdoor spider's lair.
And might just go to Devin's funeral so he can piss on his grave later.

I believe that Ted is referring to the ads in which Charles Atlas offers to turn 98-pound weaklings into he-men. They were a staple in comic books for decades. Most featured some variation on the theme of a kid being picked on at the beach and then returning to beat the crap out of his bully after ordering the program and working out for a bit. ;)

You do realise that the more we go on about how it musn't happen, the more tempted Amber will be to make it happen. :erk
Sadly/Thankfully, I don't think a Fa-Teen rating would cover sodomy in the forest, so there's little to worry about/be hopeful for anyway.
I'm honestly surprised he hasn't been raped or sexually abused yet. It seems like such the cliche thing to happen.
True, it could help to explain the cross dressing and jerkiness 280-odd years later.
Well, he's already the outcast and had rocks thrown at him and then moved to another, better society where he was accepted; sexual abuse would be over the top.
edit: lol I had like three trains of thought and they kind of mixed together really badly :p

For some reason that line amuses the hell out of me, appalling though the actual concept is.
Amber's comment about Devin looking like "a furry gay Nightcrawler" (http://nice.purrsia.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=79;t=003500;p=3#000065) is starting to worry me again, although I'm fairly sure Fa-Teen will protect Abel's virtue.

But those things haven't happened yet within the DMFA timeline - Abel's Story is currently some 275 years or so before the main storyline, considering Abel's age.

Amber said on the other forum, that he was 24 when his mother first noticed his clan marking, about a week ago from his PoV.
The link is here:
http://nice.purrsia.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=79;t=003240;p=1#000022
..and for posterity here is the text of the post.
(*EDIT* Yeah, that's real flattering, quoting Amber in a thread simply titled 'Sodomy'. I'm lucky no-one saw me reading it at work.)
And it came to pass on the eighth of April 2006 at 4:52 GMT, Amber spake thus:
Fun facts:1: Abel is 24.
2: A clan marking appears at random times and usually is just a link of sorts to the clan. It's magically activated yes, but not dependant. Some Cubi get them when they're 12, others might get them when they're 50(long after their wings have come in) It varies.
3: Clan markings and headwings have no relation to eachother. The headwings appear when a Cubi has finished "growing" or becomming an adult. Because lets face it...I dont want to think of a 2,000 year old creature that looks like an 8 year old. Noooo thank yoooou...
4: Emotional reactions wouldn't have any real impact on Abel just yet...other than that if people get sad around him he might feel a bit more empathetic of it. Or if there was an emotion he had an affinity for, he might feel oddly energetic. But likely Abel wouldn't think much of it.
5: Abel's marking is on his back which makes it hard for him to see. And he has long hair, which normally makes it hard to see for others.
6: I like wasabi peas. :3
Now let's think about this... considering the cuteness levels of most cubi males, it would be prudent for SAIA to have some sort of, I don't know, date rape prevention class. Although a bunch of guys with elemental powers going around yelling 'My body my choice!' is a bit disturbing.
Are we talking elemental spell powers or elemental body powers?

Well I'm sorry, but the more I think about it the more I realise that 'Sodomy in the forest' would be a fantastic title for a death-metal album. Just as long as the title track is instrumental.
For the want of an asprin, Devin is obviously a sadist. I doubt Devon was being serious. No offence, but the meep at the end there was more akin to Abel concidering it a possibility as opposed to it actually being one.

I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this yet (outside of somewhat disturbing slashfic ideas) but I have an evil mind, so I need to suggest it anyway.
Does anyone else actually see the possibility of Abel actually falling for Devin and Devin being Abel's first unrequited love? It would explain the early interactions between Jyrras and Abel. Of course, it's more likely that I'm completely off the mark.
However, if Devin and Abel did somehow become involved, that'd certainly add fuel to the fire for the fiction writers.

Unclear. The rules don't seem to have any scope or leeway for parody, but I for one do not wish to risk getting kicked off the board just because I changed Abel's expression or posted the
Trick of the Tail cover made entirely from DMFA characters.
I may take this up directly with the mods tomorrow to try and establish whether parody is allowed, but it's late, I'm tired and I'm starting to make dangerous mistakes like not asking a question in the APF thread.

In terms of editing DMFA comics/images and posting them on the forum, I have no issue with it, so its likely not an issue. I mean...I think everyone here would know where you got the art from. It also is the same case if you have an image for your avatar/signature that is borrowed from a different source. What they likely are referring to is people who will make an art thread, fill it with art that was obviously traced or edited up, and claim that it is their original piece with no credit given to the original artist.
Its highly unlikely it applies to DMFA edits and things...not to mention this is the DMFA section and not the art section, so my rules apply primarily to this place. And I find your comic edits funny.

Yes, I know what they're trying to prevent - I just think the way it's done is rather over-broad. What about art I use in signatures? Should I be responsible for crediting the original artist or is that he job of the one who uses the signature? :help
I really wouldnt worry ITOS. I doubt you are trying to take credit for the character in the game. Considering some forumnites have screenshots of games in their sigs, I dont think its an issue.
Its basically like this. If you draw a picture and post it in the gallery for critique or display, you basically give credit if credit is due. I doubt anyone who has edited a DMFA image is going to go about saying they are the original creators...cause everyone here will know where its from.
Keep in mind, those rules are for the art forum and primarily they are in terms of people posting up their own artwork for critique or display. If you are making a thread showing something you drew or wrote, it should be your original work. You wouldn't copy/paste and edit a few chapters of Harry Potter then post it as if it was your story...so you shouldn't take an existing image and edit it up saying its yours.
DMFA-forumwise though, as I said...I personally have no beef. And so there isnt an issue because in this forum section I AM GOD! BWA HA HA HA HA!
Basically if I haven't complained about it in the old forum, I likely wont complain about it now. And I doubt Dmoon or Damaris will crack whip either.
What Amber said. I mean, it's just a siggy. It's not the entire art piece and it's not very big at that, so it's not that much of a deal I'd think. It's like fanart in a way :3
Just make sure your signature isn't fanart from Mabland.

*walks back in from the tower*
I dared.
And the dueling banjos rage on as half of the DMFA fandom cheers in joy.
And the other half recoils in horror :)
It's best to just turn your head and look at something shiny. :laugh
Oh, look! A kitty cat! :januscat Here little kitty cat! Do you want to sneak into the time vortex as the world is saved? Good lil kitty.
MEOW!
*steals the kitty cat and takes it off to the shadows to do do naughty things*
EEEEEEEEP!! LEMME GO LEMME GO LEMME GO LEMME GO!

Quiet you...
*theres a buzzing noise from the shadows as the bunny pulls sometihng small and battery operated out of a pocket*
Don't make me use this on you.
*goes back to doing naughty things*
I realy don't want to use it but if you don't keep your voice down I'll just have to use them, and you'd look realy silly... a cat with a poodle haircut
*Charline grins at the blue kitty* I could 'save' you... *great, wide grin of gleaming lion fangs*
* steals cat from TGH *
* Tosses TGH towards Charline *
Have fun you two.
* let's je.saist go *
:batman
But But but... I'm not done I still need to rinse the shampoo out of his fur before it can be styled...
*looks up at charline*
Oh well now theres a cat who needs a poodle hair cut
*breaks out the extra large eletric clippers and the hairspray*
This thread is going kinda off-topic now. I mean, I'm not sure if we're conveying the right sort of message by coming to a new forum and sparking off all of this.
Not that I personally mind or anything. :mowwink
When was the last time we had a thread that *didn't* go off-topic? :-)
Yeah, but there's off-topic, then there's just plain "out there".
Also, there are few occasions where we're still talking in a comic's thread four days after publication, so I worry why so many people are excited by the idea (a la that art thread I've heard bad things about :mowsad).

When has any thread
ever gone off-topic? :rolleyes
So I asks, asks I. :pirate
How come Abel doesn't know how to fight? I can understand his father being to busy to teach him, but why didn't Cid hire the services of a weapons master to teach his son?
With regards,
Ted
Maybe he did. But people learn karate and can still be too afraid to use it.
Or..as always...Abel doenst fight for fear of blood showing up...
Hmm, I think this fear has yet to come to be, Xze-Xze. ;)

Well if Abel just zaps them with a reat big fireball, or a lightning bolt there will be no blood, just a few newly formed chunks of charcoal.
or..he could use head 'splodey...
Or... maybe he hasn't developed his fear for blood yet? (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h18/ItosAtio/Smilies/Errr.gif)
I'd say the last of those possibilities is the most likely one.
