And shortly we will be swapped back to see how Dan is doing.

He might just get chased out the front door with a blue flame after him!  >:3
Either that or the inn with a customer talking to Pip at the bar.

Or she might be understanding.  Depends on how well he phrases the explanation, since he didn't actually end up using her to spy on Alexi.

Also, I'm afraid I have to burn your signature now, Gamma.  (gets out a flamethrower)

I don't really know how big a deal a bust-up between Dan and Matilda would be.   Ultimately, she is the one who has been pushing for this and to be honest, Dan doesn't seem quite mature enough to handle it properly.  In other words, I think she has more of an emotional stake in this than Dan does.  He'd lose her as a friend, she'd lose what she might see as a potential mate.

There again, it might not happen.  For one, she's over 200 and very patient - patient enough to say that she'd wait until Dan was ready.  Hence, she might accept that this is simply a case of 'teething trouble' for Dan (or some misguided attempt to act more like he thinks a 'Cubi should).
Or even more bizarrely, she might have seen enough plays where someone has done what Dan did to think it was funny (see her cast page).

Hmm... "head over heals for you"... isn't that where your head should be anyway, over your heels, not under?

The distance between the head and the heels may be important.   :erk

Indeed, Fa'Lina is quite keen on some children.  :)

Well, she has a whole acedemy full of them, you'd think she had enough adopted kids already. :D

I like her expression on the last panel.

I guess the main course can come! :)

He means Destania.

She's step-mom, not real mom. Not that that changes how she feels about Alexsi, mind, but even so...

For all intents and purposes, Destania is Alexsi's mom.  That is how all the involved parties feel about it, including Dan.  I imagine Edward is relived, that no one else in his family regards Alexsi as anything less that a full-blooded relation.

I wonder how Cyra feels about it, though?

Yes, yes she has.  :D

And I would not be surprised if some of those had some grandchildren as well. :)
On a sidenote, Oolong is so different, that I'm starting to wonder if she can have children at all ?

Cubi being shapeshifters and all, it's kind of hard to judge how "different" one of them is from the others based purely on looks. So, about the only thing we may be able to conclude from Oolong's "creepy librarian" form is that she's be pretty big (I don't remember right now whether it's ever been mentioned how well cubi can change mass, if at all)...but then, if her appearance in her grandson's dreams is any indicator, so is Cyra.

Oolong, bless her cotton socks, is not a Cubi. She's a member of a race with extreme sexual dimorphism, part of the Mythos, and the males are the ones that move. She gets to stand still, and her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. So to speak.

Which is probably why she enjoys stealing Abel's shirt - she's flirting with him, by her species' standards. That's a guess, mind, but...

The flirting, or all of it? ;)

Because to me at least Oolong does in fact look rather like a cubi (yes, I know, I'm the one who just argued about looks, but still :P) -- the extra 'heads' even look quite a bit like what we've seen others sprout from their wings. So if there is anything in canon or some Word of Amber stating she's not, I'd appreciate a reference.

The rest has been explained before, but I can't be arsed to go find it.  The search function is your friend, btw.

Oolong looking Cubi-like isn't a coincidence. The decoy part up top generally adapts to look as similar to the races it is surrounded by.  Had Oolong planted herself in a phoenix temple, odds are the top-part would look avian.

As I mentioned before, Oolong herself is massive. The part everyone sees is more akin to the glowy light on a angler fish. It's more a decoy to help interraction...or at least it tries.

Okay, that helps. :grin

As to the search function...I'll be honest, I didn't even think about that. I'm still pretty new to this forum, and the search functions on quite a few others I've encountered were...somewhat below par, so I never actually got into the habit of using them. I'll try to remember to give it a shot next time, though.

My congratulations to Pyroduck for ordering the catnip salad.  I think Alexi moved closer only because it's on his breath!    :mowwink

Oh, I like this one.

It makes me feel like I'd like to know more about the hatred between 'cubi and dragons, but this is good.  Bonus points for the caption.

The reason why I'm wondering if she can have children, is because of the "no having children in the academy" rule that Fa'Lina has imposed.

I mean, Oolong would probably have known of that rule before she became the library, so why settle there if she can't have children, it seems overly hard. Unless offcourse she has a way around it ? Heck, for all we know, it's the males that carry the offspring, in order to spread them around, otherwise all of oolongs children would be where she is ... right ?

Or have I missed something about Oolong ?
And what's her obsession with Abel's shirts ?
