Would you prefer to just start up in the middle of either the civil war, or durring the raiding, and empire wide skirmishes, rather than starting up in the aftermath?

Yes
No
What?

Soo, I'm starting a new RP, so far it's looking like a sci-fi/space opera, with some survival/horror a little later on... and at some point i will be playing mind games with the people who do get involved, the worst of which will happen roughly as the survival part starts up... Right now it's got a feel somewhere between dead space and mass effect

soo, i guess i'll start with a brief overview before i get some people involved...

Edit: If you want the whole back story to the game, the wall of text below explains a lot of things far more in depth than the brief synapses i'll be giving here... set 2000 years in the future, the galaxy as a whole is still recovering from a series of civil wars several centuries in the past.

You'll start in the city of New Berlin which is a large sprawling city, where your going to be picked up for the crew on the fast, armed merchantman, Hyperion.  The first job is a delivery to Atlantis, a massive man made island/city on a water world.  The city itself is going to be attacked by a group of pirates while the team is on leave... so really, the first part of the combat is getting back to the ship... getting to atlantis is going to be more for me getting a feel for peoples style of play, and just a general feel for how the team interacts before stress is added to the equation... Beyond that, the real story begins afterwards, but it'll be a fun start, i promise.  If you just want to jump in, an example character is at the bottom of this post, along with what you'll need to send me to get a character going, if you've got an idea of weapons or equipment just PM with your idea, and i'm sure we can work something out, chances are, as long as it's even semi-reasonable i'll approve it.

Also, if you don't want to create your own, i'll be including a list of names and a rough idea of what they do at the absolute bottom of this post... if your interested in playing as any of them, just PM me, or post in here, and i'll give you a much more in depth character sheet if you want it...

Overall History: Roughly 1200 years before the start of "now", humanity had colonized roughly 1/10 of the milky way galaxy, being split between 4 major factions, the Polaris Imperium, the Freedom Guard, the Asguard Syndicate, and the Hybrids, each ruled in it's own way, and all at war with one another.  Roughly 800 years ago, the entire system came crashing down in a galaxy wide civil war.

The Imperium: had control of the largest empire, exerting control over some 450 worlds, colonies and space stations... they rules their stars with fairly relaxed, though somewhat biblical laws.  If proven guilty of a crime, an equal punishment was given to the convicted.
They relied heavily on plasma technology, and had the most advanced long range energy based weapons

The Freedom Guard: neither guarded freedom, stood for freedom, nor even gave it to the citizens of their empire, basically the embodiment of fascism, people lived in fear, government issued killings were extremely common place, and dissidence was put down with extreme prejudice.  Cold and calculating, they were often the source of war throughout the rest of the galaxy.  They relied on tried and true railguns, chemical explosives and nuclear tipped missiles.

The Asguard Syndicate: A collection of corporations who ran everything in the space they controlled, the syndicate is one of the few relics that remained after the intergalactic diaspora.  Neither good nor evil, they seemed to worship money, and profits were more important than expansion, or even national pride.  Seen as somewhat pacifistic they were often picked apart by the other factions, that is, until they stumbled across huge advances in graser technology... after that point, they became overly aggressive, using lightweight ships to constantly raid the other factions.  Laser and Graser technology was the staple of their armory

The Hybrid Council: Shunned by the rest of earth society, the master's of genetic engineering took their craft on the largest, fastest and furthest traveling colony ship they could find.  When contact returned with the rest of society, Hybrids found themselves prejudiced again, but this time, and after a few failed attempts at re-integration, decided that the rest of humanity must be "forced" to accept the hybrids into their folds.  The corruption of the council continued to grow, as the leadership became less and less interested in what was best for the people they ruled.  Genetically modified to be faster, more agile and stronger, the hybrid used plasma and gauss weapons for their ground based forces, and extremely advanced missile and laser technology on their space craft.

After 400 years of constant war, the system broke down.  The collapse started when the entire leadership of the Syndicate worlds were assassinated, what should have been a suicide mission for a Hybrid agent.  The mission ended up being a slaughter as the entire leadership was destroyed when the underground fortress' antimatter reactor exploded. no one on the syndicate world expected the attack, and as such, the relatively few guards were no match for the agent.  In the confusion, the agent not only escaped, but managed to get the Imperium blamed for the incident.  A syndicate assault force performed a deep strike into Imperium territory, though the force ended up being stopped short of it's target, the raid did destabilize the region to the point that a Freedom Guard force launched it's own assault on Imperium space.
While the raids were being carried out, the agent plotted his revenge on his own leadership for trying to send him to his death and breaking their oath of giving him whatever support he needed.
In a desperate bid for survival, the Imperium launched it's home fleet on a massive assault on the Freedom Guard home world, where the guard ruling class lived, and ruled their empire.  The planet was left totally lifeless when the remains of the Imperium home fleet jumped out of system. The spearhead of the destruction were the dreadnoughts, more like mobile cities than space craft, the largest spanned 10 km in length, 5km at their widest and 4km at their tallest.  They carried total crew compliments in excess of 100,000 and weighed in between 40 and 100 million tons.  While the Imperium home fleet wasnt guarding Polaris Prime, the Imperium capitol, a second Freedom Guard raiding force arrived, and returned the favor, bombarding the planet until it's surface was nothing but ash and glass.
While far less violent or spectacular, the assassination performed on the Hybrid leadership was a spectacle to behold, The rouge agent singlehandedly slaughtered a large portion of the five hundred man guard unit of the Hybrid council, then took out the entire council in an antimatter holocaust similar to the way he took out the Syndicate leadership.  The explosion destroyed the enormous domed tower the council held it's meetings in but little else.(as a side note, the hybrid council was a totally corrupt group at this point, and began caring more about their bank accounts than the people they were supposed to lead, The agent later became a symbol and hero of the people on many of the hybrid worlds). Without a central leadership to control them the fleets broke away from the whole of their respective empires in bids for power, the chaos that ensued left dozens of worlds burning and glassed.

the fighting lasted for another hundred years, and as it slowly died out, most planets became independent governments of their own, developing in system colonies on near by moons, or orbital stations.  Space travel itself wasn't lost, but many of the grand technologies of the empires were.

Now: technology wise, nanites are common place, personal AIs are used like secretaries and navigation systems. FTL communication has been established in the form of tachyon relays.  Trade to other systems is just starting again.  One of the most profitable, yet dangerous types of work is the recovery, and salvage of derelicts of the "great war"

The economy is based on galactic standard credit, which is equal to 1 kilogram of steel alloy, of a grade consistent in use with the construction of a ship's hull.

Weapons are primarily chemical burning weapons, though some plasma, laser and other more exotic and dangerous weapons still exist.  The ones that are useful for infantry include

Standard Firearms: The current evolution of what started in the mid 15th century on earth, a chemical explosive propelles a small projectile down a barrel.  The projectile is usually steel, copper, or some other cheap metal, the entire system hasn't changed much since the early 21st century, though sights are more advanced, and cold-bore accuracy has been massively increased.  The largest change is actually in the ammunition, in that case-less ammunition is far more common as it leads to less jamming, and is usually cheaper to produce for rifles.  Pistols tend to use cased ammo as it's easier to reload an empty magazine, and it's been cheaper for companies to not retool factories after years of production.

Railguns:  either long poles, or coils of electro magnets, which propel a projectile downrange, the projectile is usually iron, or copper, because of their conductive, and magnetic properties.  The longer the rail, the faster the projectile is fired.

Gauss weapon: combines a railgun, and standard firearm technology to get a massive muzzle velocity out of relatively small weapons.  They tend to be a little bulkier and heavier when compared to other solid projectile weapons.

Plasma weapons: firing a charged bolt of superheated gas, plasma bolts will melt most known materials on contact, the bolt explodes or diffuses when impacting a solid surface.  Modern built versions are cartridge fed, a cartridge contains a small copper cap, a plastic case, a pre-charged capacitor, and a small shot of pressurized liquid nitrogen to cool the barrel.  The copper cap is flash vaporised by an ARC torch, powered by the capacitor.  Immediately after the copper is melted, the capacitor releases the rest of it's energy down the electro-magnet barrel, this collects and fires the gaseous copper particles in a rough bolt.  Before leaving the barrel, the nitrogen goes to a gaseous state from residual heat from the forming of the bolt.  The nitrogen has a tendency to cling to the edges of the barrel, providing an insulator against overheating and prevents the barrel from melting as the bolt leaves (if kept under 200 BPM [Bolts Per Minute] the weapon will have no fear of overheating, any higher, and a molten barrel or destroyed gun is common on any plasma weapon) the telltale signs of most plasma weapons are the goldish tint of the inner barrel, and often an over sized barrels as well.
Ancient imperium plasma weapons are much sought after for their ability to use a power cell, rather than cartridges, and are still used by many soldiers, mercenaries, and pirates across the galaxy.

Laser Weapons: pretty straight forward, a coherent beam of light, concentrated enough to cause massive heating in a small area, about as powerful as ancient counterparts, not much has changed in the past 800 years to improve laser technology, they are fairly uncommon because of the their high price.  Ammunition isn't a problem since all lasers run on standard power cells.  Syndicate Graser rifles are uncommon, but pack a much more massive punch per shot, and only slightly heavier and larger than modern laser rifles.

Flechette guns: These weapons are the bastard lovechild of a gauss rifle and a shotgun, which then grew horns, fangs and wings.  Firing a cluster of finned tungsten-carbide needles at extreme velocities, they tear apart anyone caught in their path apart.  The only disadvantage of using a flechette gun is that they only have an effective lethal range of about 300 yards against an armored target... though anyone unarmored that gets caught in the path of a flechette blast has a chance of getting killed at extreme ranges (beyond 2 miles)  Flechette guns are extremely common in mercenary units, and pirates, as they tend to not puncture hull plates, but will shred people apart in close quarters.

One exotic weapon i feel that needs to be listed is an older designed Freedom Guard Anti-Armor weapon... it's known as the IPDNWS (Infantry Portable Directed Nuclear Weapons System)  Basic idea on how it works... Feed a cartridge for the weapon into the rear breach, the cartridge is a sphere roughly 4.5 inches in diameter... In reality, it's just a cased plutonium sphere... Once in the breach the weapon detonates a small nuclear explosion, then, using a series of containment fields, directs the nuclear blast down the barrel as a coherent beam, roughly 3 meters in diameter and has a killing range in the hundreds of Kilometers (if setup properly, it can hit a ship in low orbit from the ground) though it is a line of sight weapon... The largest downside of this weapon of absolute destruction is that roughly 1 in 100 times the containment field fails, and the user is at the epicenter of a "clean" tactical nuclear blast... by clean, i mean the radiation has an extremely short half-life, and as such, it's safe to enter the area 24 hours after the explosion.
side note: other, more exotic weapons do exists, these are just the more common, or epic ones found throughout the galaxy, and most likely the only ones someone can expect to encounter (besides the IPDNWS which will probably never be seen... but who knows)

Magic or at least what appears to be magic does exist, but those that can use it are far from common.  The majority of magic users are descendants of the Hybrids, though there is no proof why, many suspect it has to do with their altered genetic code.

In terms of appearance, the vast majority of the population is human, though thanks to hybrids, and their gene engineering, humanoids are not uncommon, sharing both animal and human characteristics

For the start of the game, posters advertising "new and exciting adventures and weath await those who seek them, sign up for the Hyperion, new crew and security needed"  The Hyperion is a newer vessle, a fast, armed transport, weighing in at 50,000 tons,  300m in length, 240m at it's widest, and 160m at it's tallest, the ship's main portion is a flattened cylinder wider and shorter, with a hammerhead like bow for the bridge.  The rear section has a large C shape attached which ends a little forward of midsection of the cylinder, so the ship takes on the appearance somewhat like a teardrop with a rounded tip from above. the edges of the C shape are the crew quarters, the rear of the cylinder, inside the C shape holds the cargo and shuttle bay, the main cylinder has 10 missile tubes to a side, as well as a pair of heavy laser mounts mounted just behind the bridge, and just in front of the connection to the C shape, another pair of lasers are mounted in the rear.

Soo, with that being said I'll need some new players with new characters...
if you wish to join, you can PM me, I'll need a few basic things, and if you want more information, feel free to ask, I'm still fleshing a few things out, but have a pretty good idea where i want to take this for now

name
Callsign(if applicable)
Age
Race(human/hybrid/Creature) and a physical description
skills and abilities
equipment loadout

(side note, if want/need me to make a character for you, i've got a couple  i was gonna use as additionals that i'd auto for, but if people want, they can play as them instead, if thats the case, just let me know what you want your overall style to be, and i'll work something out)

Name: Rafe Cardones
(callsign) Darkshine

Age : 141 (though appears to be about 24)

Tech: Reactive armor, it bares a resemblance to a thick wetsuit, with cables running across the entire surface, when impacted, the armor itself hardens, spreading the force of the blow out across the entire surface of the suit. On top of the reactive portions, there are plates inlaid in the material, which provide extra protection, as well as house the major systems of the suit they are located in the chest, back, shoulders, thighs, as well as a solid plate boots, that runs from the knee joint down.  For head protection, a ski mask made of the same reactive material as most of the armor.  The mask is reinforced around the jaw, eyes, nose and crown of his head to prevent broken bones from the impact.

A rudimentary AI exists in shoulder and neck guard, and provides basic data as well as assists in hacking into systems. Instead of carrying a laptop, a small keyboard pad is built onto the left forearm plate, and a monocle, attached to the basic comm headset acts as a screen as well as a HUD with useful data that the AI can provide.

The palms of the suit contain a small cache of nanites, which allows access to any external port of a computer.  the other major features include strength enhancement, concealed weapons in lower leg plates, and a pair of laser sharpened, spring loaded blades, in the forearm plates.
The entire suit is powered by a fusion cell, located just between darkshine's shoulder blades, and is far better protected, than any other piece of the armor. (if the cell does explode, a ball of superheated plasma, roughly 10m in diameter will appear, and cool in about  1/10 of a second, killing the wearer of the suit, and anyone else caught in the blast)
As for darkshine himself, he has the ancestry of the genetically modified hybrids, he has enhanced reaction time, better low light vision, as well as a faster alteration between low, and high light vision

Appearance: humanoid, with feline characteristics, is almost always seeing wearing his armor.  his head is extremely similar to that of leopard, his entire body is covered with a light orange fur and black spots.  Standing at 2 meters tall, and weighing in at 80 kilograms, he's slim, but muscular.

Weapons: favoring speed, and stealth over a direct approach, his primary weapon is a lightweight gauss SMG, firing 5mm steel core, copper jacketed slugs at roughly 12,000fps, the weapon combines a lightweight railgun, with standard chemical explosive based firearms, and is equipped with a custom built suppressor that makes the weapon whisper quiet.   The calf plates in his armor house a pair of silenced .45 cal pistols, and as said in the description of the armor, a pair of blades are located in the forearm plates, acting similar to katars. with the added advantage of being able to slash, as well as stab. he carries additional clips for the SMG in the plates around his hips and the calf plates house both the pistols, as well as additional clips.

History: Trained since being kidnapped off the streets at age 12 in the art of combat, darkshine has spent countless years in the shadows, yet despite his dark and shadowy past, he's overall good natured, and easy to get along with, although having no offensive psychic powers himself, he is extremely adept at shielding himself from both mind reading, as well as physical psychic attacks.  He has some basic magical abilities which he often uses to pull jokes on people.

Kira Desjani - Medical Specialist aboard hyperion she is trained in a wide area of both technological, and magical healing techniques, chances are, if you make it to her hands alive, you'll stay that way and recover... Short, but cute, she's a hybrid, and her catlike appearance falls through to her personality as well.  She has a tendency to be a little scatterbrained, and is easily distracted when outside of the medical bay... both brilliant and skilled, for entertainment and exercise, she practices several martial arts... one of the few who can best darkshine in a spar, she goes out of her way to tease him about it...

Carlos Medoza - Squad leader for hyperion's Echo team "security force" he's very unlike darkshine, he's a little rough around the edges, and has a tendency to take jokes a little to personal, only leading to darkshine marking him as a favorite target.  Skilled with several weapons, he carries a plasma carbine, and wears Guardian MK IV armor (Imperium built special forces and raiding armor, designed for a balance between carrying capacity, armored protection, and mobility) He leads his team from the front, and has a loyalty to the captain the borders on fanatical
(as i side note, i've killed off carlos like 7 times in hypothetical situations, each of them increasingly vicious and painful)

Knight - Much like Darkshine, Knight is black pather hybrid who's ancestors were enhanced for combat, many joke he's the "good" twin of darkshine, he's every bit as easy to get along with as Darkshine, but with a taste for more dry humor, than practical jokes.  Slightly older than Darkshine, Knights ancestors were obviously shadowhand from the enormous, feathered, wings he sprouted on his 150th birthday...  He has a quick wit, and is often found telling hilarious stories of the hyjinx and shenanigans he pulled as a kid and young adult, some are almost too absurd not to be true.

Gevahrgi Zhkov (aka Gary) - A master engineer, and an ex-smuggler, Gary has a thick, old earth Russian, accent and his ancestry is traced back to Syndicate space.  He has a knack for tinkering, building, and hacking.  It's become pretty common knowledge that despite his status as a mere corporal, he has access to every record stored throughout the ships several drives and servers... Usually found in cargo bay 4 (a section of the ship that he's taken over for a personal lab) he's built or improvised several pieces of useful equipment in several past crunches, and if needed, he could probably build a brand new bridge from the assorted equipment he has in his "lab"

Rolan Dequlin - Fox Hybrid, he's the master of computerised systems, he has an interface system that he carries with him at all times that fits easily into a pocket, and instead of using a computer or holo screen, he uses a pair of contact lenses he personally built with gary... They allowing him to seem like he's doing nothing to the outside world, and it also allows him to keep his peripheral vision... The interface device allows him to generate code using thought, and the system took years to develope and debug... now that he has it, very few systems can hope to stop him... He's a computer geek, but he also trains in firearms, he carries a plasma pistol that holds 12 cartridges in a magazine, and he's decently skilled with it too... When he's going into a combat situation, he prefers to wear what looks like a pair of sunglasses, that serve the same roll as the contacts, but are far easier to remove or adjust in a hurry... He carries a small backback with him everywhere that has some of the most expensive equipment per pound, on the ship... he also carries a small cache of nanites that act in the same roll as darkshine's, to interface with any external computer port... though Rolan uses them far more effectively

it's pretty much done now, though i'm gonna go through it a few more times, and might edit a few things depending on critiques

well, to get an idea of the mood, and get an idea of whats going to happen, i guess i'll put an idea i scrapped, see if it'll pique anyones interest

It was the third day aboard the derelict space station , and absolutely no sign of Sam Jenkins body, judging from the amount of blood at his last known position, he's probably long dead.  The 120 or so crewmen on board Hephestous Station were divided up into watch details to give the men some rest.  Darkshine and ____ we're assigned as roommates in B Corridor, room 332.  Darkshine checked his SMG, loaded a fresh magazine, and made sure the chamber was empty.  He slung the weapon up in a locker built into the wall, took off his comm set, and helmet, set them down on a small table, then layed down in his bunk.
Looking over at ____ he asks "soo why'd you go and join Grebach's team?" as if to punctuate the question, a dull thud reverberats through the heavy door.  Darkshine grabs one of his pistols, and opens the door, his face totally void of emotion.  He stares out into the hall for a few seconds, releases a heavy sigh, and calmly walks back to his locker.  He cocks the SMG, then turns towards _____ and says "it's gonna be a long night, i'd get suited up if i were you... that knock on the door was Mendoza, or at least whats left of him." Then, with a wolfish grin, turns back to his desk, grabs his comm unit, and helmet, puts them both on, then walked out the door.  He leaves with a wry smile, and shouts over his shoulder "what are you waiting for?! A whole lotta hell just went and literally knocked on your door, time to answer the call in kind"  (The ____ represents someone else's character)

Soo, this is an attempt to resurrect my RP.. i know it's frowned upon to double post, but i'm trying to see if i can't get some people interested again, with the holidays coming to a close there should be a little more regular traffic on the forums

Edit: so, if i'm not getting much interest after the first situation, i'll try something that i've been debating on, i can always rework it to have it to fit in, but here's something i was planning on saving for a little later in the story
(i'm trying to not give away too much, since people may play overly cautious in certain areas if they know too much)

Edit part 2: i decided to redo the weapons available, see if anyone likes the idea's i've come up with

while standing on the bridge, downloading data, darkshine brings up a security display, it showed Bravo and Echo teams meeting at the entrance to the entrance to a huge room.  It was massive, and the failing lighting only made it seem more enormous, as spots failures caused the lights to flickered here and there, never revealing the whole room.  To make matters worse, the majority of the center was in total darkness.  Janakowski, Bravo teams point man started to move into the room, as he cleared the doorway, he slapped a small tab at his ankle, activating the magnetics on his  boots.  He turned back to the team "looks like the artificial gravity is out in here, watch your step, the fact that lights are still on in this relic makes me a little nervous..." he switched the light mounted on his flechette gun, and walked a little further into the room, signaling the team to enter as well.
The display switched to a camera, mounted in Echo leader's helmet as he entered the room, his rifle blocked a large portion of the lower camera, and appeared to be a larger variant of the weapon darkshine carries.
Barely making out the outlines of Janakowski from his position, he started entering the darkness with the rest of the team, "Echo team, give me a sitrep" he whispered as moved forward at an excruciatingly slow pace.  A Metallic CLANG* reverberated from in front of the team, and the microphone picked up a muffled, raw scream.  A red mist began filling the compartment, and the chatter of automatic weapons started causing feedback.  Darkshine cut the audio to almost nothing as he watched as a vaguely human silhouette appeared in frame.  It carried a massive metal blade, and as the light centered on it, it was obviously a machine, it looked to be about 4 meters tall, skeletal, and full of jagged edges.  The head looked similar to that of a wolf's skull, though shiny and hydraulic pistons in the place of muscles.  The last thing the camera caught was a severed human arm drifting between the machine and the team leader, dribbling globs of blood into the air as it passed.  The machine started moving, then the feed went dead.

Darkshine was already moving for the life off the bridge, but froze when a metal dragged across metal SCREECH* echoed across the room.  2 more of the things were shambling towards the team assembled around the command and control center.  Captain Grebach moved in a slow, deliberate way, un-holstering his sidearm, aiming at the center mass of the creature, and gently squeezing the trigger.  As he did, a bright blueish flash lit up the compartment as the superheated bold slammed into the chest of the mechanical monstrosity.  Molten metal dripped around the edges of the hole, and a smoky mist stared filling the compartment.  Before anyone could really react, a second bolt not so surgically removed the head of the second machine.  The first machine was lying on the ground, in it's death throws.  The second machine stood still, and in what seemed slow motion, teetered to one side, then collapsed.

Edit Part 3: well, i've got nothing to better to do at the moment, so i figure i might as well go and add a few more characters to the list for people to look for

Captain Harold Grebach
Human, age 47
Captain of the armed merchantman Hyperion, Grebach has assembled a great deal of wealth over his relatively short life, he leads by example, and would gladly die to save any of his permanent crew (he doesn't hold anything against those who go for short tours, but feels he owes them nothing while on board either) He rewards competence, and is well respected by fellow captains.  An uncanny pistol marksmen, he wears his enormous sidearm with pride, his Plasma Pistol is a cartridge fed, revolver style. The massive 25mm bore marks it as a particularly powerful weapon, even for it's short barrel length.
Grebach stands at 185cm and weighs in at 74 kg.  He has silver hair, and ice blue eyes, the start of wrinkles are forming on his gaunt face.  He tends to wear an Imperium Navy style black tunic with gold trim, and a crimson cape that ends just above the ankles.
His personal armor is that of an imperium Guardian Ascendant, not built for agility whatsoever, it's massive plates can stop even the most powerful of weapons and although fairly elegant  in appearance (looking somewhat like a medieval knight with blue tinted glass instead of an open visor), it's massive strength enhancing features allows the wearer to lift weapons commonly found mounted on vehicles.  He carries a belt fed flechette gun when wearing the armor.

Executive Officer Jill Kanashka
Human, age 27
Second in command of the Hyperion, Jill has a double job of both managing the crew, and acting as the tactics officer when the ship is engaged in any form of a mission... She does both with exceptional skill.  Although never trained for combat, she has a natural affinity for command, and information.  Her natural skill with tactics makes her the target of several small empires looking for a fleet captain to begin forming small empires.  Her loyalty to Grebach is unquestioning and it's quite obvious she suffers from a severe case of hero worship to all but her.  Standing at 190cm, and weighing in at a slight 58kg, she's extremely slender.  She has long blond hair, hazel eyes, and a thin, yet round face, her family survived through the Freedom Guard, and therefore she has a cold and calculating feel to the way she executes and gives orders.  Instead of fighting herself, she has a small 3 man bodyguard unit that keeps her safe when she isn't aboard the ship...

A common rumor among the ship's crew is that she and the captain maintain something beyond a professional relationship, though no proof has ever been found.

Soo, i guess i'll run through some more of the points that will be touched on in the early stages of the RP

Atlantis: a massive man made island on the water world Oceana (pronounced O see ah nah)  in hybrid space, the entire island is a huge city, the current population is almost exclusively hybrid, except for traders who come in and out... it's one of Hyperion's common docking points as well as an excellent source of information and rumors.  One of the safest cities in the known galaxy, it's anti-orbital defensive plasma guns are still active, and have been maintained by the populace, a shield generator with enough power to stop several contact range nuclear blasts can be activated at a moment's notice, the on site security is tight, and mobile, officers can be at a crime scene within 5 minutes... Orbital security is run with warships built out of system centered around the battlecruisers Ares and Neptune.  The sister ships weigh in at just under 1,000,000 tons, and have the most advanced weapons, shields, and sensors available.

New Berlin: one of a very few areas to survive completely untouched in the great war, and especially given it's status as a border world between Hybrid and Imperium space.  It is the capital of the planet Eiswolf.   a great deal of wrecked, or abandon warships are in the surrounding space, making it a favorite pace for scrappers, prospectors, and the occasional would be pirate or warlord looking to start a fleet with a semi-working relic of the past (a working relic warship is roughly 5 times as powerful as a comparable modern counterpart) In scrap alone, a dreadnought is worth several hundred million, if someone were to find a working ship, they would be unstoppable against all but the most militaristic of small surviving empires.

Security on Eiswolf is either military, or military police, the idea is that a coordinated force can repel invaders far more easily than if bureaucratic red tape gets in the way.  The space forces consist of orbital stations, mounting fighter and bomber hangers, as well as 3 specialized carriers using the Eiswolf built Manta bombers, and Cyclone fighter/bombers

The Manta looks like a standard delta wing atmospheric fighter, and is known for it's 32 hardpoints, 8 of which carry nuclear tipped "torpedoes" which are designed to take out large ships, the warheads are directional, and fire the 5 megaton nuclear blast in the form of bomb pumped lasers. The other hardpoints have standard missiles which are useful against a wide range of targets.

The Cyclone is known for it's  thin crescent shaped design, centered around a plasma gatling, each of the 8 barrel fires at 200 BPM so the actual rate of fire 1600 bolts per minute, the ship has 3 minutes of ammunition, though enough atmosphere for 72 hours of flight time.

Agamemnon: one of the largest ships built in modern history, she falls into the classifaction of war cruiser, she's larger, and more heavily armored than a battlecruiser, but still less than half the size of a drednaught... operating out of the Tao Seti system, she disappeared while on pirate patrol near Oceana

Giavanne's World: this planet was once research world of the Syndicate government, the planet's population had risen to 250,000,000, recently lost contact with the outside world no warning beacons, or messages for help have been sent...
