OT: making/editing videos?

okay... um. Kinda odd question to ask from me, but here goes. I have several ATi all-in-wonder systems that I already know how to capture video from.

However, what I'd like to do is string captured video's together to make a larger movie... and while I know roughly how to do this on Apple platforms, I haven't a clue about software needed to edit movies on either Windows or Linux platforms.

What software package would give me fairly easy-to-use (e.g, Apple level) video editing capabilities?

I'd also prefer software that can output or transcode the final movie in Ogg Theora format.

For Windows, I like VirtualDub for basic tasks (cutting a scene from a vid, applying a few filters/transformations and encoding it). There is also VirtualDubMod, which apparently has added features. Another free solution would be Avid Free DV, even though I haven't tested it yet myself (never needed to go beyond the basics so far).

If you don't mind doing some digging, Doom9 would be a good place to start, I think. They've got a fairly long list of audio-/video-related tools out there from what I can see.

I dunno about Ogg Theora. Depending on the amount of cash you have, and/or your standpoint on program downloading, I've found that Premiere is pretty easy to get the hang of. I did it with pretty much no knowledge of video editting programs.
For free stuff, though, I'll second the Virtualdub suggestion. It's not quite as good if you're gonna make say, a music video, but for simple tasks like stringing videos together, it should be good 'nough.
