I still insist that the end does not justify the means. I'm not going to discuss a specific scenario, let alone a fictional one which may never actually happen; but sometimes you're caught between two evils and can't find a way around it. Sometimes you end up doing something knowing that you will regret it. But that doesn't make it right. It only means you couldn't do any better with the tools and information you had. If you do not regret it, if you believe that what you did was the right thing, then, in my eyes, you are not justified.

Personally I would want to try every alternative before we resort to the few for the many scenario.

The main problem here is scalability.  Killing one person isn't much of an issue, but once you start getting into the 100 or 1000 then there is the logistics issues of getting 1000 people, then ensuring that they are all killed, and then killing them appropriately, then making sure you didn't kill 999 or 1001 people, it is just an awful mess and best not contemplated.

I don't think so. And I hope they're not putting too much money into that while so many people are starving or dying from diseases that would be easily cured if they were treated.

I believe we will likely focus on our own solar system for a fair amount of time, first probe exploration, then Lunar and Mars based missions, and belt exploration and resource exploitation.  During this time proposals and frameworks for extra-solar missions will be laid down, but I'm not sure that they will be realized in the next fifty years.

He crept people out. Vaguely.

That information is classified.

Whatever "self away" means, making something "organic" doesn't give it a soul. It may or may not make it "alive" depending on whether it has some sort of life cycle, but plants and fungi are alive and I don't believe they have souls. In any case, if by "self away" you mean "self aware", that alone would imply that it is alive, because without life there can be no awareness, there is only data and processes with no one to perceive them and interpret them.

It should be common knowledge. And it's been like that for a long time, and you don't even have to look at the rules to notice. (Though you should know the rules anyway, here and everywhere).
