More money than sense (ebay)

Here we have a splendid example of a Technics RS1800:

...which appears to have been sold for £3,989.00, or in other words just shy of eight thousand dollars.  Why?  I have no idea.  :erk

I'd have felt guilty bidding more than about $500 myself.

Sadly the Technics machines are somewhat rare, and this one does seem to be in very good condition.  All the same, I think $2000 is extravagant for this kind of machine, and the seller didn't seem to expect it to exceed that either given his statement "its a superlative machine and would cost thousands to buy new and if you can find one"...

I don't think a beat-up Tascam 32 would fetch very much money.
