What's the brown rat holding? It looks like a pencil with a rain drop.
Jeez I need to update this thing.

I can see his confusion... I've never seen one flop over like that.

What's the contest?

Start more fires,  I've seen matches do that.

Would you like a googolplex (gzipped 57 times)?

Only if the match has been burning for a long time. A quick swipe and light wont make the matchstick bend like that.

What program do you use to color, Gabriel? Your linework is very faded and it would probably benefit you to learn how to use layers.

Ah yes, layers are a God-send.  Would definitely be good to learn to use them.  Anyway, we still don't know what the contest is for...

for software I use  MSpaint, Photosoap, and Elements in that order.

I'm hoping to get into the second round of the contest, and the ultimate prize of the contest is a donation  code, which I can use to advertise my site (among other things)

Well, yeah.  But we don't see that he's only had a quick swipe.

Yeah, I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't know how to fix it, but it's true.

Other issues:

- Who is Twigy (sic)?  Is it a character who indeed only has one `g,' or are you referring to Twiggy?
- I keep reading the red speech bubble first and the blue one second.  If that's not your intention, you might want to move the red balloon beneath the blue one.

Is that Kai's Photosoap or Adobe Photoshop?  If it's Photoshop, get rid of MS Paint.  I'm not aware of anything that Paint can do that Photoshop can't do better.  If that's not Photoshop, get a copy of The GIMP.  The GIMP is also capable of doing everything that Paint can do, but The Gimp does it better, and The GIMP is free.

Without knowing what the contest is about and what the rules are, it's difficult to give more advice.

I'm not sure was Photosoap is, but I would advise downloading GIMP or getting a hold of Photoshop. Your lines are very faded and washed out, and you're losing the picture because of it. Your pictures end up looking really half-assed, to be quite honest.

It'd be nice if you told us what exactly the contest is about.

attempt at layering with elements to me it doesn't look that different.

line are of Birthday

ok, so smackjeeves.com is hosting a contest for donator codes, first you sign up, and then you are randomly paired for competition from a hat pull. each team of competitors is given a topic and  the winner moves on to the next round where you will be teamed up with another competitor until there are three left. the remaining three will then compete for the donator code.

I am in team #9  of 16 and my opponent for this round is someone named Lokijki.  our topic is "birthday cake", the winner is based on what the mod's decide as the one with the better quality art/writing/story. we are given three days to create a single page comic...that's to the best of my understanding, as the instructions confuse me.

Well, at the risk of sounding like I am just plain promoting my stuff, I created This simple tutorial, as I have noticed quite a few people have trouble with lines.
This *may* help, and it uses Gimp(So no worries about having to lay down money for Photoshop).

I do agree with Zina, and while your art is always funny, it does have line problems.

Another option is to mess around with the levels or the brightness/contrast until you get the results you want. I'm not really familiar with any of the programs listed, so I don't know if they work like Photoshop.

Also, just a small critique, but I think since the theme is "birthday cake", it be best to have the cake being the focus of the picture, rather than off to the side.

well shoebag was the name of a story where a  cockroach turned into a human , The reverse of Metamorphosis. and I thought that would be the perfect name for a mouse/hamster, and I named the other  twigy because  'ratty' would be as lame as a fox named foxy, and a bear named berry.

You might want to rename it Twiggy with two `g's; otherwise, people will think it's a mistake.
