It's one of the budget range they made for broadcast, though 'budget' in that sense is kind of like a budget Rolls Royce.  Nice machine to work on, though.  I think it's ex-BBC.

Anyway, I have a preliminary mix which I'll listen through a few times and then decide if any of it needs to be changed before it's edited down.
There are a few fluffs here and there but I don't think they're really too much to worry about.  I'm more worried about getting it into the computer without the soundcard clicking at the moment  :<

EDIT:

TODO list for release:

1. Alex and Glev.  This is too quiet.  If background FX is managed carefully, can probably do a straight re-dub in place to patch this in
as the cross-fade with the music is too quiet to really be heard.
Care will be needed to avoid overrunning, though.

2. Alexsi and Jyrras.  This is again, too quiet relative to the other
  segments

3. Jyrras and Abel.  Again, too quiet relative to the rest of the episode.  Add reverb for when Jy says 'No, brain...'

4. Splice Dan's narration into master tape, edit gaps

**EDIT**

Slowly getting there.  I now have a nice new Asus soundcard, and by performing a certain amount of brain surgery on the old UA-5, I was able to modify it to act as a standalone converter and link it to the new card via a fibreoptic cable, thus removing the USB interference.

See also:  http://album.he.fi/hessu/ua5-switch-modified/

...the only problem is that the fibreoptic cable I got with it is about a meter too short to reach.  But that can easily be replaced.

Okay, I think we're reaching a point of diminishing returns, so I'm just going to release it now.

Full announcement is at the Tower, here:
http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,6559.msg298671.html#msg298671

There are a few things that could be improved, but they'll cost money to get done or to get the tools to do them myself.

For those too lazy to click on the link, we have the intro here as a teaser:
Intro (1.6MB)

...and the full 35MB download here:

Full MP3 version.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed.

You're welcome!  :)

One question, though--the link is from dmfa.it-he.org, but I'm not seeing a link to it on that site itself, not even when I refreshed the page.  Have you just not gotten around to that, or is there a specific reason for it?

Not trying to be a pain, just curious....

Heh, I was just about to edit my last post and say "never mind," because I just saw it.

Thanks!

In case anyone is wondering, I'm waiting on a set of recordings from James.  After that I'll be able to look into the next part.  Without Dan, not much is going to happen  :B

Ya, I was wondering why nothing's been happening! You can't do much without the main character! I bet he feels he's being funny, making people wait like this! Somebody better tell that punk to hurry up already and... uhh... record stuff.  'A'

...I'll try to do some lines Sunday evening.

If you can, that would be great.

Is this a new project you'll be working on, or just adding his lines back into the Dark Pegasus project?

It'll be part 2 of Dark Pegasus.  I'd like to get that down on tape as well.

Ah, cool.  I'm guessing that all major story arcs will be worked on eventually?

In principle, yes - in practice it's slow going.

Well, its pretty cool that someone has decided to do something like this.

Question about the individual files that contain a handful of comics, is it possible to splice these together, or is it not a good idea to do that?

It could be done, and I have done that at a pinch sometimes to work out roughly how long something is going to take.  However, the short files are more akin to practice runs than something I'd consider finished.

Ah, yeah.  I haven't listened to any of the short files and only downloaded the three finished projects.

Aside from the lack of Dan voices, which James is hoping to fix over Christmas (and I will be prodding him about it :P), we now have another problem.  The server hosting the audio files was upgraded a couple of days ago and the upgrade has not gone well.
As in, not only is it not working, but someone accidentally managed to erase it all.

In the case of the Radio Project this isn't a complete disaster since I had a snapshot of it beforehand anyway.  However it is rather inconvenient.
If anyone is wondering why they can't get to the audio files, that is why.

I'd still give him a swift kick in the arse over that... if I were you, but I'm not you, so I won't, heh.

Believe me, I know. I really screwed up; I was using a new control panel, hit "delete account" figuring it would just delete a record, or at least give a warning... I then found that a number of files were missing(after no warning what-so-ever). (I literally went  :erk ...  :cry)

However, I'm going to see if I can't get this fixed up - This was all hosted on a professional VPS, and as I just learned(less than an hour ago), backups are taken every week. I asked TechSupport to restore the proper directory to a temporary spot, at which point I can move it to the proper location easily enough.

I still can't get the domain name working though, which is why http://tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com doesn't appear to resolve - In the mean-time though I setup a direct IP link to the same directory at http://92.48.69.8/~tapewolf/
If you see anything -other- than a 404 error for http://92.48.69.8/~tapewolf/audio then all the files should be up, and in the same places; just replace "http://tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com/" with "http://92.48.69.8/~tapewolf/" and you will be able to access the files.
And, once I can figure why the domain name isn't working and fix it, the old links will work, too!

So yea, I made a major mistake. But I'm trying to fix it, which ought to count for something.

edit:
WOOT! Got it restored.
http://92.48.69.8/~tapewolf/audio/SuperFunkTime.mp3 <-works. Everything else should be there, but I don't know exactly what was there so I can't check.

No good--I did get a 404 error.  :(

I am glad you're trying to fix it, though--and that it was just an accident and not some crazy person who did it deliberately for whatever reason....  You never know in this day and age....

You will get a 404 from the main site because it's still looking for 'tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com'.  I haven't updated it yet.

Still getting "Welcome to your website" page.  Don't think there's any html files where there would be normally.

There never was a root page in the wildernessguardians one as it's just used as a file dump.  Thing is, dmfa.it-he.org uses it to store all the recordings.  Those should now work.

For the curious, there are things at:

http://tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com/dmfarp/
http://tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com/audio/
http://tapewolf.wildernessguardians.com/video/
...and a couple of Project Future things as well.

Originally they were all at dmfa.it-he.org, but basically it became too big so I moved all the media files away from it.

Tezkat

Out of curiosity, what are we supposed to be working on now? Any Tezkat voices needed?

I just picked up an external audio interface for my laptop, so I might start dragging a mic around with me... :3

I want to complete 'Return of Dark Pegasus', so that is the priority right now.
AFAIK Jyrras features in 951-957 and 994-998.  I have a feeling you did the 951 set before, but I'd have to check.  It might have been Jay instead (he voiced both for one of his Abel recordings I think).

Aside from that, if you get bored I need someone to rerecord the Demon's voice part from my song "...And Daryil Answered" :P
