Let's say I wanted to find someone...

Someone I used to be friends with, long in the past, and I just thought I'd give a go at tracking them down to say hi... What's the best way to do this?

If they visit the Internet often, you can probably find tidbits of info on them, such as a LiveJournal account, etc.

Phone Number is always the best, in my opinion.  Try to find out what town they live in and use the Yellow Pages, unless they're unlisted.

Email is pretty good, though, like you said.  You sometimes can't get a phone number anyway.
