Uh, no. That's like saying everyone dies of heart attacks. My dad's had AT LEAST 3 in his life and look, he's still there.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad's had heart trouble.  Here, have a  :hug .

Actually, it looks more like a visualisation of pain. Notice the panel before it has the same color theme but there is a straight line. If this was meant to be an ECG in any way, then he would've logically been dead on the previous panel.

The EKG (*) wave is very clearly supposed to indicate pain.  The reason why we associate EKG waves with pain is that we associate EKG waves with heart attack or cardiac arrest.  As you correctly point out, it doesn't mean that it is a heart attack, just that we will strongly associate it with that, and that perhaps the artist did as well.

Happier than 383?  Look!  It has a little bow!  Actually, the content of a lot of the _83 strips seems to be rather unhappy.

Prediction: 783 will be unhappy.  Unless Amber sees this and decides to change it to spite me (an idea I'd endorse).  Probably with a question from the readers if 783 was supposed to be a downer.

Also, I think it would be bad taste to have Cid die in comic 86.

(*)I've had a few, and that's what they call them in the States (from the German Elektrokardiogramm)--just so you don't think I can't spell.  And don't get me started on spelling it Light Amplification by Ztimulated Emission of Radiation.

Well, I was sort of referring to the fact it looked more like just plain jaggies. You know, the kind of jaggies you see when your girlfriend sees you out with a girlfriend in the movie theater jaggies. The ones that mean trouble.

Just noticed something.  Cid is trying to figure out *why* it happened, not *what* happened.  Unless he was too ill to say the right word.

How many of those three times did modern medicine intervene quickly and efficiently to sustain his life?  Without competent medical care (read: proper equipemnt or medicine, or those trained in medical techniques) the chances of surviving a heart attack IRL are much much lower, though it's still possible.

I imagine that, if they can bring someone who can heal Cid fast enough, he'll be OK, but if they take too long (and we still don't have any real indication as to what sort of emergency response they have in furrae at that time period)

*Charline blinks and hmms*  Well... at least someone's dying now.  Still, I wanted Abel to do the deed.   Sons killing their fathers to ascend to new levels of ebil, or just as they discover their new horrible power which they can't really control is always so satisfying to watch.  >:}

And the jaggies are only over him. not to the sides, where he isn't. Plus, it won't explain the jaggies in the first panel, which also show something unpleasant.

The jaggies in the first panel split at angles, whereas the jaggies in the fifth don't. However, it doesn't look like a heartbeat to me (p-wave, RTS interval, etc). Though of course Cid wouldn't have a regular one if it was a heart attack.

So my vote goes to it being purposefully a heartbeat, though I wouldn't be surprised if Amber did plan it on being only a panic attack or heartburn.

And yes, Cid did say "why." Him and I both would like to know at this point the "why."

I had a friend whose dad (or was it grandfather) had a heart attack.  When they finally convinced him to go to the hospital, he drove himself.  I think he may still be alive.  Some people are much more resilient than others.  Plus, Zinvth probably had good magical healers.

I don't know if it's been said before but what if Cid is a cubi with a split personality?  The non-cubi side of his is stronger and more dominate than the cubi side.

That could explain why May says she didn't cheat and why Abel is a cubi and why Abel hates those that change their identity. :mowcookie

Yes, I do post just to see my own words on the screen.

No, ``Abel has a severe dislike of Cubi who use their abilities to assume complete alternate identies (sic).''

It's hard to see that springing from a dad with a split personality.

Unless, as I suggested before, Cid was Kria's teacher, and he changes form to teach.

My theory is that Cid DOES die on the operating table/in the process of Abel trying to save him. Abel is watching somehow, and after seeing all that blood on himself/doctor/May, his phobia goes nuts, and he somehow ends up in SAIA.

Dang man, no wonder Abel has issues.
And this is all in one day too!!! O.O *spazzes just a little*

I know this has been said a thousand times but l'll say it anyway...

We'll never know. This seriously will bother me until I die. What if he said something important, like, "Don't take the highway on the 26th," or "Don't cook next Friday,"?

You don't keep prior modifications of the messages here on the forum?  I would think that that would be a pretty standard way of dealing with disputes, such as when someone goes way over the line and gets reported for it, but then that person changes the message before the mods can get there.

Anyways, I'm just glad that you can't see the abusive, obscenity-laden version that I just modified this to replace.

There isn't one. Well.. unless you're a mod. Mods can do -anything-. :-]

*cough* something about a philosophical aversion to deleting posts on the part of the owners, or something. I don't pretend to understand, I just follow the rules. ;-]

I was never a mod, but I remember correctly there used to be a delete button... is there any way you can set up the delete button to appear within 5 minutes of a post?

Some boards have delete available up until another poster responds.

I'm a mod on David Hopkins' Jack forum, and an administrator, and it's always a pisser when you're on other forums and you realize you don't have your super-powers.   (It's really tempting to want to edit other people's posts and make them say what you want.)  My only consolation is that at least whenever Amber talks to me I share my evil plans.

I like the Delete button on posts.  It's almost as good as the Back button on my browser when I go to make a post.

Similarly, I like the edit button, and do not think that previous versions should be recorded.  Often if I've edited my post, you didn't want to see it before the change, anyway.

I don't know if i got mental problems or what, but every I have a very hard time making things I try to say come out right. I also have a hard time with my own spelling/grammar... but when I read someone else's writing or posts I could tell whats wrong with every last little detail. It's hard to explain. I edit alot. Almost 8/10 posts of mine will be edited. But uasally its just sentence structure and stuff...

WoW forums have a delete button which at times does come in handy.

Fuyudenki

perfectly natural, that's why essay writers and authors usually get other people to proofread their work for them.  After writing the thing and reading over it a dozen times, you're just not going to notice that you misspelled "and" 23 times, and forgot 16 each "a" and "the" articles.

Damaris

I nixed the delete button as I have seen people abuse it terribly, and have a hearty dislike for the button itself.  I feel it gives people the permission to be immature, type without thinking, and have a general disregard for concequences.  That's why we don't have it.

However, everyone tries to get by, and everyone seems to be blind to their own faults (especially the exception of i before e, etc, and their etc ....  )   However, I thought this page was to discuss what is to come to everyone in Abel's house, while Cid looks as if he is going to have his last gasp . This probably won't happen now that  secrets are out from the past, and everyone now knows . Will this just be a short term attack, or will Cid be left lingering to recover?      Or will Cid die straight off and cleanly, and have the rest of the group there to clean up the mess ? ( So much for Hennya's happy wedding . ) We will probably find out in Abel's Story {84} , unless Amber plans another cliffhanger ...
