And he said "lo, for there may be many emotes, but there shall be more to come."

Sweet, Darkmoon! I love this one!: :bigsword

Of course, with my lousy dialup it takes roughly four minutes to get to it...

:noobrape Somehow I don't think I'd want to know the inspiration behind this one...

Er... when would it be acceptable to use this?

Especially in light of Rule 1, section C?

As an extension of Section B, there is to be no "newbie bashing".

Would you like a googolplex (gzipped 57 times)?

Hilary

Pshh, they can take a little rape. Bashing, on the other hand, is inexcusable.

I love the emotes, particularly :baghead :bar and :explosion

But I have a request for one I might like to see, if that's possible.  Upon looking through the massive collection of emotes, I was astonished that there wasn't an eye-twitch one.  Did I simply miss it?  I have trouble believing that such a useful expression could have been overlooked.

Nevermind, I did just miss it.

*Is suddenly very glad Hilary didn't catch me when I was new*

I seem to remember posting on your intro thread... I guess rape just wasn't in the air at that particular time. Yeah, that's the only explanation. :doommuffin

Here are two that I'd like to see:

(popcorn)

(haveadrink) or possibly (onthehouse)

Whaddya think, sirs?

If you hadn't told me what they were, I would be totally clueless.

:popcorn :cheers

I do realize that there's the rather fugly looking popcorn box, but it doesn't convey the ``I'm having fun watching the thread'' concept.  Looks more like a ``movie night'' emotion.

I also realize that there's a cheers emoticon, but--once again-- it doesn't convey the ``I'm buying'' concept.

Maybe I'm just slow, but I wouldn't infer that from this. I just see a weird thing that might be a drink popping up in front of a smiley face.

Darkmoon

I don't do animated emotes if they don't loop well. That drink one doesn't.

The popcorn one isn't bad.

Wow.  I actually felt a bit dirty not looping it, but I didn't think that it would work, artistically.  Looks like I was wrong.

As for the cookie, I'm not giving you one until they fix the karma for the Inverted Dungeon theme.  Or until I find you over at Lost Lake.

In the interim, have this.  I just posted it not 30 seconds ago in the funny pictures thread, so the forum software hates me now.

Likely in the same way as exploding muffins. Jokingly enough so anyone can see that you don't wish it upon them. (At least I don't think we really want newbies eating explosive food. Right...?)
Jeez I need to update this thing.

Ah, I think I may be able to shed a little light on this issue.  I think the reasoning behind that emote relies on the difference between a 'noob' and a 'newbie.'  Newbies are just people who are new to the forum; they may or may not be stupid or annoying in any way.  Noobs, on the other hand, are by definition stupid and/or annoying, and they may or may not be new to the forum.

Am I right?  Is that the reason the noob-rape emote doesn't break any rules?

bill

The reason is that the emote is highly unlikely to be used seriously, and anyone who does use it seriously has major problems.

ardaron

I realize it wasn't meant to be taken seriously.  But making fun of people is still making fun of people, even if it's done in jest.

Quote from: Darkmoon on March 04, 2007, 10:29:04 PMWe don't?

No.  We do not want anyone to eat explosive food, unless we stole the tarp from a Gallagher show.

Unless it's annoying people who are doing the eating. (It's the most efficient disposal method.)

:doommuffin

**Edit** Huh. That's the first time I've seen the little written bit. (Where did it go? Heaven? Methinks not.)
