Like the title says this is a topic about music facts many didn't know, as well introducing people to the best eras of music 60's, 70's, and 80's. Other eras always welcomed, love getting new music knowledge

First off let's start with some covers you may never knew were covers

1. The song "RESPECT" by the queen of soul herself Aretha Franklin from 1967 is actually a cover song. The original was done by the great Otis Redding done in 1965

2. Who could forget Jimi Hendrix, a God of guitar. The song "All along the Watchtower" in 1968 was a cover. The song originally was done by none other than Bob Dylan in 1967

3. Ah Whitney Houston a voice that gave us such hits as "I wanna dance with somebody" released 1987 and "I will always love you" however "I will always love you" released in 1992 is a cover, the original is performed by Dolly Parton in 1974

4. Ah Soft Cell what could be said about that group. Well their hit "Tainted Love" from 1981 was a cover. Originally done by Gloria Jones in 1964

I only did 4 for now, I have lots of other music knowledge even little known facts, why a song was written etc etc. I like to blab about music so I may just make a huge post to this topic or even answer burning questions people have. I mostly know 60's, 70's, and 80's music rock some country and some blues.

Yes they were and fantastic covers. Heck stairway to heaven was a cover, Bob Dylan did it. I have so much knowledge.

Like "Girls just wanna have fun" 1983  Cyndi Lauper was a cover. Robert Hazard did original in 1979

Quot Riots "Cum on feel the noise" from 1983 was originally by Slade in 1973.

Also know that Ozzy Osbournes first music video on MTV was bark at the moon

Billy Squier's Rock me tonight was a music video disaster that Billy hated. Wasn't what he envisioned. Also was voted one of the worst music videos ever.

I have more just ask away or I can just post random facts and what are covers

Merlin

whaaat i didn't know girls just wanna have fun was a cover

i have so many fond memories of making my dad listen to that on our roadtrips

Yep but Robert's version was based on male perspective. Cyndi didn't wanna do it originally but worked with producer Rick Chertoff to rework it to be a female perspective. The song "All through the night" was also a cover. 1983 Jules Shears did it for his album
Watch dogs which didn't even chart. He was honestly surprised when Lauper wanted to cover it and it ended up as a chart topper. Same year too she did hers in 1983 as well

I didn't wanna post another for fear of spamming. It has been a few days so figure it is fine.

The other day I found a music fact that blew my mind.

If anyone remembers who Garth Brooks a country singer. Can explain if people need but, pretty well known singer.

In 1999 Garth decided he was gonna go and do a rock album. So instead of Garth Brooks does rock he had the idea to create an alter ego named Chris Gaines.

He claimed to be from Brisbane, Australia. He wore a black wig and wore make up and did some very melodramatic "rock" releasing a single album with 14 songs. The album was considered a commercial failure. Initially, Brooks planned to feature the Gaines persona in The Lamb, a motion picture which never materialized. In 1999, Brooks released one album as Gaines; the album produced two charting Billboard singles, including the Top 5 pop hit "Lost in You."

Look up a pic of Chris Gaines most times is a side by side with Garth and you will really wonder why he did this

What would the 'male perspective' of a song like Girls just wanna have fun even be like?

A central philosophical issue with worlds, possible or impossible, is how they represent what they represent. This is obviously connected to the problem of what kind of things they are. Perhaps impossible worlds are metaphysically different from possible worlds, and represent in a different way. Or perhaps they are metaphysically on par with possible worlds. Or, they may be taken as nonexistent objects. Or as abstract entities which represent by encoding...

Mostly about ahem you know three letter word starts with S. Cyndi and her producer rewrote some of the song so it wasn't the same song fully

Oh that makes sense. That...wildly changes the meaning of the courus lol.

Yep

I know more than cover stuff as well

Late great Ozzy Osbourne's first music video on MTV was bark at the moon

Tragic stuff like the plane that crashed with Jiles Perry Richardson Jr AKA The Big bopper, Frankie Valens and Buddy Holly, that the pair Tommy Allsup and Waylon Jennings  was to be on there instead of Valens and the big bopper

Valens won his seat from Allsup with a coin toss. big bopper got his from Jennings on account Bopper had the Flu. Jennings and Allsup both were guitarist for Buddy Holly.

Holly joked with Jennings after hearing he gave up his seat saying "I hope the bus you're on freezes up."

Jennings joked back saying "Well I hope your plane crashes." Those words haunted Jennings every day of his life after the plane did crash
