She may also have a few screws loose, between this and her intention to end the world.  I'm assuming that they did meet again just prior to Fall - but the healing magic wasn't enough to heal the dying.

What puzzles me a little is that this does mean he can't return the bell when he's finished with it...

EDIT: Also this means he hasn't technically stolen Gaea's magic.
