They should totally do a "3 ghosts of Xmas" stunt on him. But then again, there's the "no need for sleep" thing.
Would drugging him be an option?

I mean, Richard is close to a mental breakdown so, heavy meds wouldn't be far off.

You know, when someone normally uses the word "sentient," the word they should be using is "sapient." This is the first time I've read a story where it's used correctly.

Arguably, yes. Although, in this case, I think the next line is "they're as sentient as you were - are you that much smarter than you were?" or something, but that might open another can of worms; after all, he's so cocksure at this age, his answer is likely to be "yes" :-/
