I am now worried for Dan by how hilarious Abel finds it that his guide around SAIA for the month is Mink. On the plus side, we get Mink in the present so we have reason to be happy

Well, that answers people's questions about whether Mink is still alive and in the Academy. Does this mean that Jin still doesn't consider him ready to leave, or is he pursuing some kind of extended course?

It looks kind of like Abel may have fallen out with him, though.

To be fair, Dan has had to deal with people like Mab and Wildy for years, wondering how hard it'll actually be for Dan to get along with a cubi who's genuinely friendly and not a big pile'o'snark.

Interesting turn of events.

Oddly enough, he reminds me of Rocky while laughing like that or an evil master mind after gloating how doomed the hero is.

Though with how Mink is, would Mink still be Abel's friend even if Abel considered himself to be alone?

In most cases we saw Abel just simply ignore Mink. Dan should be more interesting to see how they interact. There weren't no limits on love when Abel first came to Saia, let's see how much love, joy, and endless dialog Dan can handle.

As for Abel's humor, could it be that he knows Mink is a bit AD-Ohhhhh, shiny combined with insight into others' feelings? (Reference Aary.) Dan, who runs away from his feelings combined with Mink should be entertaining to say the least.

I like the way the characters got slightly chibi-fied in the last panel. The addition of Abel's lower canine teeth (are they still canines in a feline?) is a nice touch. The lower canines are something I very seldom see in anime or manga. Usually it's just the upper ones. (Okay, and now there are cats, dogs, and people fighting on the radio. Weird.)

I wonder if Jin has set up some sort of agreement with the Taun to give escorts of a few Taun to guard a Jin clan member for when she allows any of her clan to leave the academy?

Buffs got to guard their healers.

Though with the clan being so small their really isn't a reason why they couldn't work at the academy after finish their classes or take classes more of a hobby while they work there. Though that makes me wonder how the clan plan's to expand with most of them kept locked up tight in Saia.

When Dan first meet Abel, Abel was very much dressed like Mink.

Dan could probably dig a lot of dirt on Abel if Mink was willing to talk to Dan about him.

On one hand, Mink! Yay!

On the other hand... that final panel... scary...

On the gripping hand, I think Dan might get along really well with Mink. They seem compatible. (Though you don't really know until they meet)

Dan and Mink at Saia? Hmm... Both lack the kind of forethought that keeps careful people from having adventures. Both are generally good-natured, Dan can and has lost his temper a few times but Mink hasn't hit that point yet, and possibly never will.

So, I think they'll get along nicely. They'll have a few completely unnecessary adventures getting into trouble at Saia, Dan will say or do something stupid and have to make it up to somebody... Mink will be Mink.

And then the random element, the Twisted Amber Of Chaos, will appear.
