Well I've been lurking a bit on the forums, and I finally found this one. My usual habit with new forums is to just jump right in and start posting, so Introduction post typically get left in the dust; much like this one. Anywho on with the show...

*cue drumroll*

I am SquirrelWizard, and I just recently found these forums. I'm a major fan of webcomics, and I happened to amble my way through the links till I found this place. For those who wonder, I am a guy, though I have played both male and female characters before. I like role playing, writing, and I want to start up a web comic of my own, but alas my artistic ability is lacking (I'm working on it, I'm at the monkey-flung-poo-on-wall stage of drawing).

I also enjoy making jokes, and I would like to apologize before hand for any grievous bodily harm resulting from my weapons grade bad jokes.

Edit: Oh yeah, I do have a deviant art account but..... I dont have a scanner so I haven't put anything up on it. So I wont bother posting the link. In case anybody was wondering. Also, I am a pretty good critic, and will typically point out problems or try to offer suggestions (yes I cant draw worth a damn, but I can critique. Don't ask me how it works, it just does.) I try to be positive about my critiques.

Edit2: Oh yeah, I'm a Cheap Bastard, and I've been trying to find some basic drawing tutorials on the web. So far what I've found is "learn how to draw a dog!" or "learn how to draw an airplane!" or "Learn how to draw some random clip art junk that you will never... ever... draw the same way we present it." Those tutorials have their place, I guess, but I'm kind of looking for some basics: shapes, shading techniques, and if possible basic anatomy (IE arm goes here, it looks like this, if your arm doesn't look like this consult your doctor immediately)

The guides I do have require a bit more artistic ability than I already have, but I have managed to hack my way through some bits and pieces. I'd feel a little better if I was in more familiar territory.

If you could point me in the direction of a guide/s like this I'd much appreciate it.

Welcome aboard.  Don't forget to read the rules and stuff.  Following them helps too.

I can't really help with the drawing thing - as a rule I can only draw inanimate objects with any degree of confidence.  I can offer advice on colouring things digitally if you need it, though :P

Hi.

Welcome to the forums. Stay away from the mods. They bite.

I vote that we greet the next guy in Nadsat slang.
Someday, when we look back on this, we'll both laugh nervously and change the subject. More is good. All is better.

Hmm, it only says 'backward text'.

I can see I'm going to have to take that apart with a hex editor to see how it works.

I thought it was just a clever use of existing letters in the English alphabet. Except the upside down question mark, which I have seen on keyboards supporting Spanish.

Of course, chances are I'm really overlooking something all together...

n = u
d = p
s = ... well, s
i is right-side up, as an exclamation point wouldn't have worked in this case
p = d
a = e

o = ...uhhh... o
m = w
u = n

Looks like it.  That would explain why it works in the terminal as well.

That would count as 'encoding' I think.

From ... erm... Something on a 286.

"This tagline is umop apisdn."

And yes, that is from the days of PacNET, when people used modems - the lucky ones had 2400 baud - to connect to BBS's, to proxy data from the Internet over UUCP...

Old style geekery.
