Well, some of us never played or even saw a lot of these games the rest of you apparently play or at least know.

Don't worry about it.  I've played the game and I didn't get it until the picture.

Jay Naylor was popular before Better Days, because he was and still is a porn artist.  It's kind of like if John Malkovich suddenly decides out of the blue that he's going to become a puppeteer, then by God he'll be the most popular puppeteer in the world, despite the fact that there were puppeteers before him who actually do a better job of puppeteering.

"Better Days" may as well be entitled, "How Awesome is Fisk?"

Fisk is actually the weakest character in Better Days, in my opinion. He has no personality at all.

And the puppeteer simile made me think about Joaquin Phoenix's current "rap career"...

This. BDK is extremely funny. :3

I think they're redrawing some of the strips to exclude the incestuous elements. Which is to Mat Sherer's credit if he's planning on publishing BDK.

Zig Zag isn't in the remakes, either, which is a shame since Sherer's take on her was pretty damn funny.

Have you ever noticed that? How often the main character in any piece of media just has no personality?

Sounds like a dead-ringer for most of the the video games media where the idea is to start with a personality-less character thus allowing the player to fill in the massive gaps in thought.

Master Chief stands out as an example in my mind, not only because he's the embodiment of this, but because he's the best attention *grabber*.  I have yet to ascertain the reasoning behind his popularity outside of the aforementioned "filling in" appeal and even then, he's managed to overshadow other characters/games that do this much better.

MC is also popular because of how well the game does the whole "kill all the aliens with all these shiny weapons that do all sorts of cool things" concept.

Yet again, other games have done this better with a better plot, yet only his games have gotten the massive following.

Heck, there are older games that still rank higher than his in my favorites.

Here is your problem, though; other games don't have the giant shoulder-mounted lasers of doom that Halo 3 has :P

Of course, there's the Hammer in Gears which is a little pistol that calls down a freakin' satellite's laser, to name one of the more recent ones, but I believe the shoulder-mounted part is what people like about it. Oh, and the passable vehicles, such as the tanks and whatnot.

Sofox

I wasn't thinking so much video games, where a blank protagonist is common and almost expected, I was thinking of books moreso.
I mean, I even felt this way about Harry Potter. He seems to go through the motions, make pretty bog standard reactions to any given situation, and rarely do anything that indicates a true sense of individuality rather then a walking hero-in-training stereotype.

Doom's BFG did the "green laser of doom" looooooong ago.  The thing even hit through walls, hence why it was the Big Freaking Gun.

The only "Shoulder mounted green thing"  I remember playing from 1&2 was the alien's answer to the rocket launcher.  Only it couldn't lock and hit near-instantly.

I don't know about you, but driving the warthog was as clunky as trying to do acrobatics with 100 pound cement blocks attached to you kidneys.  Almost everytime you hit a tiny bump in the landscape, it would leap several feet in the air and bounce around like a rubber ball in M.I.B. labs, usually capsizing in the process and killing your troops and once out of troops, the warthog loses most of it's "no ammo wasted" appeal.

I never said green, did I? No, I was referring to the Spartan Laser. Oh, and the Fuel Rod Gun is in 3 as well. It doesn't suck quite as much as it used to, either... Anyway, perhaps when they make Halo 4 (and you know damn well that they will some day) they will have a plot as original (that is, not really but still kinda) as the first one with the shiny toys of the third.

Lego3400

How th4e frig did this turn into a Halo conversation. Honestly.

Have I mentioned I dislike the game on the grounds hat is highly overrated. :3

Arcblade

Yes, but nothing beats whacking down someone unexpectedly with a sword.

Actually, maybe blasting them 20 yards with a point blank missile launch, but I'm reaching there.  I only managed that once in Quake 2.  (I actually suck at FPS's.)

In other news, Jack can go suck on a thistle. I tried to read it, god help me, I did, but christ, it was such scrotal awful that I ended up drinking.

Oh dear.

I am calling shenanigans on your statement. For you to end up drinking, that would imply that you ever stopped. :U

That's also a truefact. But my point stands. Suck a thistle, Jack, with your fetuses and whatnot.
