That would only make things worse: imagine TWO states who vote the exact same way, and pretend that they're still one big state and basically ignore anyone who addresses us as Northern Californians and Southern Californians.

Welcome back.  I've never known you, but it seems we share a slightly common interest.  I know that I'm fairly curious to see what happens with the US election.  I don't have a preference either way but it's always interesting to know what my southern neighbors are up to.

Well, aside from living in Lake Pahoe, I don't know where you live, so I can't exactly speak against you. And if everyone took Hollywood a little less seriously than they do, I'd be a little happier.

Honestly, Silicon Valley isn't much different from the IP Mafia as you put it.  As far as I'm concerned they're in cahoots.

They may be similar, but Silicon Valley cares a whole lot more about things like interoperability than Hollywood.  For example, I'm sure that DIVX, cap codes, and the Sony rootkit CDs are all Hollywood's ideas, not Silicon Valley.

Firms like Google would have a lot more clout than they currently do, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Larry Lessig could make it to senator some day.

Lent was OK, and the time after was more or less good, as well.  Got a bunch of books, but now I guess I have to read them.
